I can't remember if I have posted about this already, but...
A local music website has been running a series of secret shows this fall. The idea is that you buy the ticket for the show knowing the artist (they've all been local or small touring acts) but you don't find out the location of the show until the day before. They have tried to make all the shows in venues that aren't the standard live venues for Knoxville. For example, they rented out a local beer store/garden for one show, another was in a local shopping center where they had rehabbed an old car dealership and another was in a salvage place where they try to save detail work from historic houses that have been torn down in Knoxville. I haven't been able to make any so far, but the finale for this series is Friday, and tickets have been purchased. As it's the finale, this is the biggest one with it being three shows being played at three different venues with transportation being provided in between shows by Knox Brew Tours. I have my fingers crossed that the venues are three different local breweries, but I'm pretty excited for it regardless. The three acts for this show are Humming House (who I saw part of at Rhythm N Blooms), Elenowen and firekid (who just signed a major label contract).
I caught Sunflower Bean at the Levitation SXSW showcase. Definitely check them out, they were a great show. Think they're opening up for DIIV this tour too?
Edit: ha, 2nd rec by Billy too. Def see them!
Yeah I thought Sunflower Bean was really solid too. Was glad I came early enough to see them cause that name was crap.

F*cking hippies, maaaaan.
I actually thought they were solid. I'd see them again. Fucking Wolf Eyes though. OMFG. They have descended into a rock band and it is glorious.

I'm thinking that Wolf Eyes may be coming to Knoxville with the Third Man truck after Black Friday. Also, Ratatat just got announced here. Finally gonna get to see Cream on Chrome live.

Perfect Pussy - Winter 2015 12/05 Chicago, IL - Thalia Hall (In the Round)
I recently learned that (In the Round) means they don't use the stage. They set up in the middle of the GA floor and let everyone form a circle around them. So...... I will be going to this.
Oh wow. Floor shows are the best. They played an art gallery here in the floor and it was sublime. Did I see them with you at P4K? I forget.
Totally worth the money, imo. One of my favorite bands currently making a racket.

I remember the first time I saw Daughters (13 or 14 years ago) they did this and I had no idea what was going on.

So while watching Tribulation, a few thoughts came to mind.
1. Do they ever get whiplash? 2. What do they do with their hair during the day? Ponytail? Headband? Scrunchie? 3. Where do they buy all that black clothing? I am sure it's not in the mall at Hot Topic. 4. Do they have a throat lozenge they prefer? All that screaming can't be easy on the vocal cords. 5. What do they think of the juggalos that wandered in by accident.

Damnit all these midweek shows. Come on Shaky Knees!
03-09 Minneapolis, MN - First Avenue and 7th Street Entry
GAH! I just saw this five minutes ago. Gonna buy my tickets when they go on sale Friday. I bet so many fucking people on this board will be at these shows, goddamn. And this venue's capacity is 250 and you just KNOW that shit is gonna sell out quick. Ugh. It's gonna be good. Spring tour announcements. Life is grand.
edit. Usually when it includes the Entry in the venue description, that means it's there, but technically that's the whole venue name. I don't care which one it's in, but the Entry would be fucking sweet.
2017: 2/24 Twenty One Pilots 4/1 Radiohead 6/7 Glass Animals 9/10 Modest Mouse 9/21 Arcade Fire 9/29 Kings of Leon 10/3 Foster the People 10/17 The xx 10/22 LCD Soundsystem 11/8 Bon Iver

Calm down. It's Minnesota for goodness sake. How many of there are you in this board? Three? Four? You will get tickets.

I was saying that people on this board will be at a lot of these shows around the country, not that there will be a lot of us at the Minneapolis show. And I'm gonna buy my tickets as soon as I can after they go on sale, the last time he was here the show sold out pretty quickly and I have a history of waiting too long to buy tickets.

How big is your venue? And why is he still playing places this small? Mercy Lounge is a teacup.

I'm not sure what that "y" is in reference to, so I'll address the latter questions. The 7th Street Entry holds 250; the adjacent First Ave holds around 1500 the last I checked. He is scheduled to play the Entry as far as the listing goes and based on historic tour displays for past bands coming through. If it says "First Avenue & 7th Street Entry," they're playing the entry. Otherwise it would just say First Ave.
Why he is still playing places this small is also beyond me. Sometimes, as I assume is custom for cities around the country, if it does sell out really quickly they might move him to the Triple Rock or the Fine Line. How small is the Mercy Lounge?
