I love that place. It seems like they had a period recently of not booking any touring acts. I'm glad to see that might be changing. Sometimes you go see a show there and a lot of the regulars are having a song swap in the downstairs bar area. It can be a good warm up before the show upstairs starts.

I went to a Sons of Hermann summer camp for probably 3-4 years in my youth. It was actually really cool. You could pick which "classes/activities" you wanted to sign up for. I remember always signing up for the model rocket building class, along with archery.
Summer camp was the tits, do kids still do that these days? I know parents love it too, no kids for a week or two!

Been happy for everyone who has gotten to see Caribou this tour but was bummed out that he/they weren't coming near me.
From Caribou's twitter 30 minutes ago: "And before you all ask - yes, we are coming to Chicago, Minneapolis and the Canadian prairies in spring 2015. : )"

So after looking this over, and noticing that Nola isn't on it, it was brought to my attention that they have the perfect openings for jazz fest May 2 or May 3. Fingers crossed. I didn't see them at the Civic.

It will be May 2nd if it happens because Clearwater, FL is a long ass drive. I'll be surprised if a Jazzfest 2nd saturday late night NMH show doesn't happen too. I'd also recommend hitting up late night Gov't Mule show the night before if you want to experience an epic throwdown with numerous guest musicians. That has been the best late night show 2 years in a row IMO.

I've gone to many a LN Gov't Mule shows. Will definitely look into going again this year depending on lineup. Last year was the first year I've only gone to one day at Jazz fest. Usually got at least four days min. Made up for it with many Jazz fest after hour shows, though
The Life and Songs of Emmylou Harris: An All-Star Concert Celebration
The event will be held and taped at at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. on Jan. 10.
Featuring:
Kris Kristofferson Joan Baez Alison Krauss Sheryl Crow Mary Chapin Carpenter Mavis Staples Martina McBride John Hiatt Lucinda Williams Conor Oberst Trampled By Turtles Steve Earle Patty Griffin Rodney Crowell Iron & Wine Shawn Colvin Shovels & Rope Sara Watkins The Milk Carton Kids
A new slew of artists have been added to next year’s massive concert honoring Emmylou Harris. Vince Gill, Chris Hillman, Herb Pedersen and Daniel Lanois are the latest musicians announced.
I did the Gregg Allman in ATL and the Dr. John during Yazzfest in NOLA. They are pretty pricey but if you can swing it it's about as good as it gets, musically.

Update: Caribou will be in Chicago during Coachella W1 so he better be at Bonnaroo. Sad times.
wat. when did he announce that?? I'm impatiently waiting to hear the minneapolis announcement.

The Chicago venue (Metro) announced it via twitter. Really worried about how realistic he is for Coachella at this point. I assume the other dates will be announced soon.

That's funny, I've never heard of The Hideout either. I think they're just making shit up.

Judging from the acts that are playing there according to their calendar, I'm not surprised that they are unknown to you.
Thanks to Google I discovered it's just a small place that changes hands/names/themes just about annually. Hard to keep track of. I've actually been there a few times, each time under a different name.

And I've never been/heard of Hotel Vegas in Austin. Just looked it up, it's a small place on the East side. These are some intimate shows apparently.
Hotel Vegas is a killer small room to see shows at. They also sometimes do things in the back area outside. East of I 35 has some of your better venues in ATX now. That and the Rainey Street bungalows.

Good to know, would like to check it out if I'm off work. I think the only show I've ever seen on the eastside is Sleepytime Gorilla Museum at Scoot Inn. I always hear great things about Rainey street, definitely on my list next time I'm out and about in Austin.
