i firmly believe that only a person with a subpar taste in music would not find anything to like in radiohead. not saying it because i'm a radiohead fan, but because it's true.
I do not love them. None of it has really hooked me. Could take it or leave it. Oh and I in fact do not have sub par musical tastes. (Two opposing truths!!!! What happens now?) Guess we will just never learn.

Regarding the pit talk, getting into the actual pit will probably be somewhat manageable, but being up close within the pit (ie first few rows)? You're gonna have to give up your whole day. People showed up around sunrise for Radiohead at Lolla in 08.
*With Centeroo being 24/7, I honestly expect a least a small handful of people to stick it out Thursday evening and just sleep in line.

I could be wrong but I don't think they open the What stage field on Thursday. I remember only being allowed into the tents/which stage area and them blocking off What.

I don't know if that'll be easy, Juggs. One or two people in an empty pit would be extremely noticable and would evoke some outrage from the people in the Radiohead line. I don't think a security guard would chance that.

i wasn't really being completely serious. was not meant as an insult to anyone

I'll have a row of quarters in my pocket in case somebody wants to get loud.
Is that actually a roll of quarters or do you just really like Radiohead?
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

Right, but there's no reason you can't lineup at the barrier to get into the What field, assuming they let you stay there. People were talking about people getting in line before Noon for acts in the past, and I assumed they were doing this, because I was thinking the What didn't open back up until noon...
Not really sure though, I'm still usually at camp.
So for real question here. I am a big Radiohead fan and consider seeing them live one of the things I gotta do before I die. But, they would really be the biggest reason I went to Roo this year. Are they really that good live? From all the videos I've ever watched it kinda looks like they just play their songs like they do on the album and that's it. Which is cool cause it's Radiohead....right? Right...?

That's what happened in 2006 when they played. I mean it was fun and I liked the songs but don't expect any jams.

Hmmm. I really can't see myself missing this chance to see them, I'm just worried I'm going to spend a day camped at the stage and miss out on some good shows only to be a little let down by them.

I've seen Radiohead three times, and I've never walked away feeling let down. Yes, they don't really jam, in an improvisational, jambandy kind of way, but in a live setting they add new textures to their songs. Jonny Greenwood, in particular, is someone to keep an eye on. He switches between instruments throughout the show, sometimes during the same song.
I hope so, I own a Radiohead "Best of" cd.....kind of spoiled from listening to it. I am looking forward to their show even if they decide to play new music only. Very talented group.

This. Jonny Greenwood is one of the greatest musicians of our generation and contributes more to the bands sound, especially live, than most give him credit for. Thom Yorke may be the focus of everyone's attention but Jonny Greenwood is the star of the show IMO.
-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver
I figured they'd have a set that was at least 2 hours long (plus encores? didn't they play 3 hours their last time at Roo?) which will give them plenty of time to play most their new stuff as well as touch on everything in their catalog.

when has colin rocked a ponytail?! thom wore a tiny one at the roseland shows but i didnt think it looked bad at all
re: their live show... if you love the music and are a fan, you will NOT be disappointed. it's amazing to watch these guys play. if you're looking for extended jams and such, you're looking in the wrong place. check out a vid of street spirit live to see Jonny play a synth and a guitar at the same time..
How can Rolling Stone rank Kid A the 428th best album of all time and the best album from 2000-2010? Was music that sh*t from 2000-2010? I don't think so.

So I ditched my studio version of "King of Limbs" and replaced it with the live recordings from The Basement. After several listens, much much much better! Now I finally see why you guys like this album. Now I don't even care if their set is heavy on King of Limbs material. Fine with me! To me, the studio version is just so dreary and dull and lifeless. These songs really come to life in a live setting, though. Anyone who is having trouble liking "King of Limbs," ditch it and do what I did.

I think the all time ranking was done several years prior to the decade ranking. I bet if that same list was redone today, Kid A would jump significantly higher.
