RHCP start their world tour on 9/11 and play many dates in Europe running through the end of the year. What makes you think they would headline a traveling metal festival?
The festival organisor told it in an interview that RHCP would be available to book.
Sonisphere Festival organiser Stuart Galbraith has said that he is hoping that both Foo Fighters and Red Hot Chili Peppers will headline the event next year.
During the festival's official press conference this weekend, Galbraith revealed that they were already in talks with the bands about making an appearance.
'They're both two that we're talking to, amongst a whole list of others," he revealed. "I also think we could have Green Day and Blink-182 here, but none of those are confirmed."
Yeah call it blasphemy, but his Coachella set turned out to be an outright success. The sell out of this year really changed the crowd and brought a lot of new people. I didn't see a lot of "Fuck Kanye" this year, either. He'd sell a poop ton of tickets and I'd be there to cheer him on.
When i got to bonnaroo this year, at 8ish pm wednesday night there was already a huge quack kanye graffiti on the porta potties.
They always use the same porta potties, they actually stay on the farm year round. However I saw an article recently that said Knayesucks is the WiFi password at the AC headquarters so I would not hold my breath for a return either.

AWESOME! Four bands I have no interest seeing at Bonnaroo.
But this also makes Coldplay all the more likely, and honestly I'd rather have RHCP or Foo (or Blink or Green Day really) than Coldplay. Not that I wouldn't gladly watch but.

id rather have foo fighters than either RHCP or Coldplay.
Between Coldplay and RHCP, its a little harder for me to decide. I think i would prob enjoy RHCP more(as long as they play older music) however they would almost have to be the number 1 act, where if we had Coldplay Id imagine we get one more larger name act listed above them.
Just seems like we have 3 obvious headline choices on the tour circuit: Coldplay, Chili Peppers, and Foo Fighters (with Muse still in the realm of possibility but far less likely), we'll probably get one of them, just have to wait and see which one. If Chili peppers and Foo Fighters are overseas then that leaves one more likely candidate...
I'm far from a Coldplay fan, but I saw their Glastonbury set on Palladia a couple weeks ago. It was very impressive, granted not something I NEED to see, but was enough to justify me seeing them at a festival. I still wish Roo would consider having acts performing during the headliners. WSP unopposed this year was SO dumb.
As much as I'd love to see the Red Hot Chilli Peppers it wouldn't kill me if they didn't play this year. They claim they are back for a while (hopefully another 2 albums/8 yrs min.) I'd much rather see them play their own show.
I know Rooers hate Kanye but I saw him at Milwaukee Summerfest in June and it was by far the best hip hop show I've ever seen. If people gave him another chance I think they'd be pleasantly surprised. Kanye puts on a truly great show. Can't wait for the Watch the Throne tour.
I'm a casual Kanye fan - I think he's an alright (albeit horrendously overhyped) rapper, and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy was pretty good, but it probably only cracked into the low teens of my favorite albums of last year. That said - once bitten, twice shy. I might possibly even go see him the next time he tours near me if the tickets are reasonable enough, but I'd never want to see him on a Roo lineup again unless it was as part of Watch the Throne. It'd just be a waste of a headliner for me - maybe not to quite the same extent as Kings of Leon were, but not all that far off either.
Now, I think he's a absolutely phenomenal producer and has made some of the most amazing beats in hip-hop today ever - but in terms of actual lyrical content and flow? He's decent to pretty good at best - but like so many overblown pop stars, the image he cultivates seems to have taken center stage over the actual message and skill behind the image. I still listen to his music a decent amount, but I just don't think he's worthy of the acclaim he receives. And while I enjoyed MBDTF to a certain extent, I actually thought his verses were among the weakest parts on the album - most of his guest artists showed him up, IMO. I'm not denying that a return visit could feasibly happen again in a few years' time, but I just think it'd be almost as much of a waste of a top-tier spot as Kings of Leon were. Just my $.02 anyway, I know it's not the most popular opinion around here these days.
