This is the most cafe acts i've known ahead of time.
I think I can safely say the same.
Some excellent stuff here. GSBS are awesome. If you dig Yonder, you'll be a happy camper. Like others have said, if you're not conflicted - check them out. I know I'm going to try. That said, CO is practically home to them, so I'm not going to beat myself up too much if it doesn't happen...
I can honestly say I have not heard of any of the cafe acts but have researched a few and they are really good!! I am pretty excited about the cafe acts
The David Mayfield Parade is a fun, fun band to see live! David Mayfield will also be playing with Mumford and Sons during their set. He's an insane guitar player

Bands I might see at the festival:
Aunt Martha, The Band Of Heathens, The Black Box Revelation, Chancellor Warhol, Civil Twilight, Cory Chisel & The Wandering Sons, Deas Vail, Gary Clark Jr., Greensky Bluegrass, Infantree, Jamie McLean Band, Kevin Hammond,..
Roo vet and long-time lurker here! Figured I would finally sign up to share what I know about the Cafe acts since this is an area of the festival that I've enjoyed immensely in the past. I've caught Russian Circles, Bakerton Group, Warpaint, Devil Makes Three, and many others on the cafe stages, but mostly at the Troo Lounge. Every show was simply amazing. The lounge makes for a small club atmosphere and gives you that up close & personal energy that you typically only find at such venues.
This year I am familiar with only one band: Lionize I will not miss these guys. They have a stoner rock/reggae kind of vibe. Another cool thing about them is that Tim Sult (guitarist for Clutch) is a member of the band, although not full-time. Not sure if he'll play with them at Roo this year, but it would be nice to have someone from Clutch representing on the farm once again!
David Mayfield is Jessica Lea Mayfield's brother. They were both raised in a family of traveling musicians and have been performing live since they were kids (she's coming to town soon and I read this in a local write-up) I'm familiar with Jessica, and if David shares any of her talent then this should be a good set. Maybe a short duo is in order?
In closing, as someone else previously stated...DO NOT ignore the cafe stages. You will only be doing yourself a disservice!
Can't wait to be back on the Farm! See you all there ;)Bonnarooooooooooooo!

lionize were on the farm last year. they were on tour with clutch at the time and i saw them hanging around before and during the bakerton group show. i said to my wife, it sucks that they are here, but don't get to play. and a year later, here they are.
I strongly recommend Gary Clarke Jr. Best of the Cafe acts by far. That guy has some awesome energy and is a damn fine guitarist. He was at the Crossroads Festival in Chicago last year and tore it up. Real excited about this
For sure my favorite cafe artist. In my 7 years at the festival I have never botherered checking out any cafe acts, but I will definately be there when he plays. He might be the best pure blues artist on the lineup this year.
Can anyone tell me how the lounge is set up (how many people it holds, how long the average set is)? Do you have to get there in advance ala comedy tent, or can you just walk in anytime?

it's really small. some chairs and tables set up. very small area in front of the stage. i'm going to guess only 200 people? set times are 50 min. to an hr.

Their keyboard player played during the Bakerton Group set. I talked to him for a bit after the set, and I asked if they were sticking around for Clutch's set. He said they couldn't because they had a one off show in Kansas City the next night.

forgot about him playing with them. it was the guitarist/singer i kept seeing hanging around.
I am extremely excited for many of the cafe acts! Gary Clark Jr. is a MUST see for me! I agree with the person above who said that he is probably the best blues act on the bill. Hanni ElKhatib is going to turn the cafe upside down! The beautiful girls acoustic set I am excited for too. I have been a fan of the BG for some time and this will be a nice chill set for me to take in! Its great to see how many people in this forum are looking forward to many of the cafe acts this year. Its a nice breath of fresh air to hear people talk about music that SHOULD be heard!
Cant wait for Roo!!! It will be here before we know it!

VERY stoked about Lionize. VERY. Think Reggae Clutch. Their singer has some serious pipes too, LOVE that guys voice (Warren Haynes meets Bradley Nowell-ish). Check out their new album "Destruction Manual" or "Space Pope and the Glass Machine".
Also, all you Bobby Long fans: He's pretty awful live. I was stoked to see him a few months back here in LA. I ended up leaving early. He's the kind of artist that only needs himself and guitar, and he's been touring with a pretty crappy backing band. They just drown him out and you lose his gorgeous voice all together. Hopefully the folks at ATO took notice...
Adds I'm also stoked about: Band of Heathens Cory Chisel & the Wandering Sons The David Mayfield Parade J. Roddy Walston & The Business (and also excited to check out all these I don't know, although that always turns out bad and causes the uber-conflicts)
The cafe stages are a great cool addition to roo. Some of the stages are outside while others are in small tents(some even with A/C). It is a perfect drive by or change of pace area to enjoy the day. Last year we discovered some amazing new artists just randomly walking around to the stages during the day.
This year i suggest everyone check out Civil Twilight. Saw them last week here in the ATL and they are amazing live.
A few others that stood out are Givers, Jamie Mclean Band, and The pimps of joy time.
Now all we need is a DJ tent and Roo would be complete!!! =)
I just looked into The Apache Relay and wow I must admit they are one I will definitely be trying to check out. They are in the Avett Brothers mold and out of Nashville but a bit more melodic. Their new album in American Nomad.
If nothing else I'm keeping myself busy at work scouring Grooveshark for all of these bands!
The Kopecky Family Band is a must see. I've seen them twice in the past 7 months and they are great songwriters and have amazing stage presence. Other cafe acts I am excited about are Cory Chisel, Civil Twilight, Infantree, J Roddy Walston and Givers.
Definitely digging Gary Clark Jr. and Lionize on grooveshark right now. Never made it to a cafe act before but I think this year that's all going to change.
This will only be my third Roo but, after the cafe announcements, I have to say that this is the most solid overall lineup I've seen. There's at least a half-dozen cafe acts that have piqued my interest and I already came to the conclusion that leaving Centeroo for a break was going to be tough to do before they were announced. Are there any veterans out there that can recall a deeper lineup?
I've never made it to/inside the Cafe Where, but I'd say the Troo Music Lounge has capacity for a few hundred (but if you want to see, get there early enough), you'll be able to hear the band from distance though.
On that note, I love the cafe additions, but the one I highly recommend (being from Cincinnati) is Walk the Moon. Definitely for the indie kids, I saw this band last night at our zoo (they have concerts there every week in April) and these guys killed it. Known them for awhile now, they played a local festival my brother put on (as has J. Roddy, also recommend him) but I'm expecting big things from Walk the Moon's roo debut. I just know they'll do well there. They like to wear warpaint, last night they covered Toto's "Africa" and they probably most resemble Local Natives. Very similar harmonies and some experimenting, multiple drummers at times, etc...
Last year's lower third was strong. Warpaint was the last act on the poster and they were much better than that might indicate.
I tried Cafe Where last year. It was painfully loud. I don't typically complain about loud venues, but that was absolutely ridiculous. Maybe it was just the one act.
