Jesus Christ, y'all, I just looked back on this thread and realized I have been playing Baldur's Gate 3 for FOUR MONTHS. I'm well into Act 3, but I still have what I assume are a number of really big side/companion quests to finish, and haven't even moved either of the main plotline quests forward since entering the Lower City. I think it's a combination of my need to do and find EVERYTHING and the fact that I'm playing on dad time - 30 minutes here, 30 minutes there when I can squeeze it in.
But I can't remember the last time a game took me this long to finish and I stuck with it. Maybe never. Like, I've spent a third of a year on this fucker. Since I'm at the level cap, already, a part of me just wants to ditch all the side stuff and beeline for the finish, but then the other, neurotic part of me won't let that happen.
I never finished the main quest. Lol. I’m right there at it and have done everything else. At least that I know of.
The companion quests are worth finishing for sure. At least the ones you can wrap up earlier. Some of those fights are hard as hell. Speaking of which, you gotta go to hell if you haven’t.

OK, well, over four months later, I am FINALLY finished with Baldur's Gate 3. I'm pretty sure I did just about everything with only a couple of minor exceptions. I feel both very satisfied and very glad to finally be finished with it so I can do something else with my free time.

BG3 2nd play-through update: I'm in Act 3, and Tavern Brawler Open Hand Monk with 3 levels of Thief Rogue fueled by a constant diet of Elixir of Hill Giant Strength has been a real trip, so far. Fights and encounters that were really challenging the first time around, like
the mind-flayers you fight in the colony under Moonrise Towers near the end of Act 2 when you choose to open the pods and free Zevlor
have been absolutely trivialized. Many fights, the upper-tier enemies aren't even getting to act because I stun them in the first round and then take them out in the second. I have to imagine it's only going to get easier as I stock up on the Act 3 gear and start using Elixir of Cloud Giant Strength, which is going to make my unarmed damage even heavier.
I've been going Dark Urge, but the resisting-my-evil-impulses kind because I feel too guilty being bad in video games.
After this, I think I'm done with the game, as the only other changes I'd make a third time around would be changing race/class and romancing someone else (went Shadowheart the first time and Bae'zel this time).

there’s a fallout series and a fallout movie? why now? did the rights become available or something
I don't think there's actually a movie? This has been in the rumor mill for years and Todd Howard claims they've turned down a lot of offers waiting for the right pitch. We will see. I had no hope for the show but the cast and trailer looks like it's at least not going to be total garbage.

I may make a separate, spin-off thread for Fallout if I actually stick with it or if others want to chat about it but after the show coming out I am loading up into various Fallout worlds again lol. I am downloading Fallout New Vegas on my PC and have reinstalled Fallout 76 and fallout 4 on my PS5. Going to start a new save in 4 after the new updates come out but will start dicking around in Fallout 76 on PS5 just to see how that is now. I only played about 10 hours during a free trial run a while ago so not sure what to expect now.

yeah I'm getting the itch to finally try 76. I tried to play the original a few nights ago but gave up after an hour of being frustrated by the oldasfuckness of it all
