I think Matisyahu was '06? I was at 07 - '10 and I don't remember him on that lineup but what I did hear it wasn't as great as expected. Then again I saw him play in nyc during the week he plays a Season of Lights concert series in Brooklyn for Hanukkah, which was ridiculously tight. I think it makes sense that its all about the vibe of the venue when it comes to him.. opinions from others whose seen him?
good point. When I saw him I had lawn seats at an amphitheater where he was in the second opening slot. Maybe just not a good venue to see him...
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.
Well considering the hip hop artist they have brought in at the tent level in recent years have consisted of mostly underground and old schoolers, with a little Kid Cudi or Lupe Fiasco in there. I don't see them jumping out on a limb and booking another major hip artist for What Stage this year. Even if Drake were to play he would be in a tent or at the most which stage. Unfortunately, I believe Big Boi or Outkast would end up in Public Enemy type spot. (Even though, I think they would be great on the what stage as Outkast.) So having Big Boi would diminish the chances of Em,Wayne, Or Drake.
I mean did you hear the webcast last night? He would definitely kill at Roo.
and why wont they 'jump out on a limb" and put a hip hop act on main stage? they have done it each of the past 3 years(including 2 this year), id say with the current trend its more likely they do then dont.

And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round
^Drake kills is on that song, and so does wayne as usual.^
I know people on this board have a problem with kanye but if you like hip hop you have to admit these 2 new songs from him are great and Kanyes new cd is gona be nasty. Best Ye verses in a loong time.

No Kanye. No Wayne. I would accept Drake, but i would be more interested in skipping a year of big-name rap acts, and instead getting several high-quality lower tier acts instead, and then getting Outkast whenever they reunite.
I would love to see Drake and I have been wanting him to play 'Roo since before his album released. I could see him as the only What Stage hip hop artist and I'm okay with that. If he does come, I wouldn't mind Lil Wayne stopping by during his set.
Also, I want Waka Flaka and Big Sean sometime during the weekend.
Drake would give me a lovely stretch of time to take a nap before a LN...
He wouldn't even come close to headlining. But he could play the What as a pre-pre headliner.
Any rest at bonnaroo is great rest my friend. All I know is I will be in a different world if he were to perform, preferably one filled with unicorns and gumdrops
Mos Def - Big Boi - Drake - The-Dream - The Roots - Q-Tip - Madlib (How do his live shows go?) - Dj Shadow
Not as far as I know and Q-Tips shows are just amazing, and unforgettable. Madlib is like never on the east coast, it sucks man = every year I hope like hell but chances seem low. DJ Shadow is def. touring and I can see that happening. no opinion on The Dream
Slick Rick and Rakim are completely possible classic choices if Roo goes that direction. (i.e. in Public Enemy's slot in 2009)
If they felt the need for some Wu -> Ghostface or Raekwon.. Meth & Red is possible, and is the most ridiculous show of all, but the last album didn't sell so well...

I bet that the hip hop headlining spot goes to Daft Punk this year and we get a bunch of non-headlining rappers. Ludacris, Big Boi, The Roots & John Legend, Common, Mos Def, Lupe Fiasco, NERD, K'Naan,

Too many big names, not enough spots.
and Daft Punk is def. electro/house; though their crippling beats may confuse you
