Also because much of the lackluster lineup had truly been leaked in one way or another..
who leaked other than the flaming lips and steve martin? I feel like a lot of people were expected/rumored but this year had the least amount of leaks i've ever seen.
They delayed the lineup for a week for that. Why hold out hope for Super Duper additions?
This is my fear. we have been waiting for so long. why wait any more only to be disappointed again. I trusted you bonnaroo. c'mon. dont do me like that. haha
but for real....why weezer? I love old school weezer. but why not get some awesome acts that are fresh, in their prime, and already touring? ex: Girls ? or them crooked vultures? reapeat of yeasayer was what i was hoping.
the flaming lips are on the bonnaroo artist page. to all the people (CoS included) who had neil as 'confirmed' or 'expected'... WHERE DID YOU GET THAT???? now that the lineup is officially out, REVEAL WHERE YOU HEARD THIS!!!! i'd just like to know if there was any reason this moved from a rumor to expected.
i think it's a great lineup. some heavy undercards in there. if you don't think about any previous Bonnaroo lineups, the lineup sounds like a fun time. but IMO, if you compare this to other Roo lineups it's pretty lame. that being said, i'll probably be down on the farm. it'll be the first year that one or two bands are bringing me there and i will be experiencing all of this music that is new to me. but i guess that's what it's all about. should be an interesting and fun party
"Disobedience, in the eyes of anyone who has read history, is man's original virtue. It is through disobedience and rebellion that progress has been made." Oscar Wilde (1854 - 1900), The Soul of Man Under Socialism
"You're either on the bus or off the bus." Ken Kesey
"When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro." Hunter S. Thompson
Not even close to the quality of lineup's in the past. Not even close. Not worth it to me. I guess I'll go to another My Morning Jacket show instead and go to smaller show close to home. I was thinking that MMJ would play before Neil on Sunday to close.

I suppose I misworded there. a number of larger acts (DMB,KOL,Stevie, etc.) have been heavily discussed, to mixed review. and I do agree, there were the fewest concrete leaks this year. People however have been heralding our headliners for awhile. I think many refused to believe the current situation as a viable headliner set for roo based on last year.
I'm pretty happy for the most part. I really wanted and expected Neil, but we could still get him. I had a feeling we wouldn't see MMJ. I definitely didn't think we'd see Arcade Fire. I really thought we'd see Spoon, so I'm quite surprised by their absence. There will be some good stuff added. Relax, people.
Looking at the length of the lineup from last year and the length of what has been announced so far, I'm not holding my breath for a big addition, but it wouldn't surprise me if that undercard got alot better.
im solidly happy with the undercard this year, lots of shows i want to see. i am very shocked, however, at the 'headliners'. i truly believe that there are still some surprises

Actually yea, you're right. We did kinda know DMB and KOL would be there. I forgot about that. I guess we just expected a bigger name.

Bonna-rumors are flying about who will headline the annual rock festival in Manchester, Tennessee this year.
Organizers teased the appearance of the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Grateful Dead offshoot Furthur, and Jay-Z in a series of recent tweets, by alluding to their respective album and song titles. See if you can guess which tweet alludes to which artist.
1 out of 4.....maybe they have someone else in mind for an addition?

Im sure we will get another " In a few days we will unvail the 2nd half of the lineup the same way, starting from 10pm > 10am " and COS will confirm Led Zeppelin and Phish as headliners..lol..............Im sure the 2nd wave though will be the simon and garfunkle and maybe neil young, Waters would have been dropped already..MMJ was suprised to see them not added

god i hope so...headliner wise. I am pleased with the undercard but how far up some of those on the top line are is just killing me. I can't believe it.

this lineup is kind of like warped tour getting lilith fair pregnant, and then that child later becomes impregnated by scion rock fest, and then that child becomes pregnant with an old coachella lineup, which leads to the present bonnaroo initial lineup.
I might have taken that a little far. But seriously....there's like 6 bands that I would really love to see, and a bunch of bands I would like to see if nothing else was going on. I'm definitely holding off on buying my ticket until some good additions.
I'm all about diversity, but to quote mr. vonnegut:
"Write to please just one person. If you open a window and make love to the world, so to speak, your story will get pneumonia."
well im still very excited. i think its gonna be a great time & maybe we'll get some additions... spoon please? and a few more electronica & i am set. see you all there =]
this line up blows. and i was not someone that was expecting Daft Punk or the Stones or someone crazy. i had even talked myself out of Roger Waters once i saw the FLips were playing Dark Side.
if this had been simply posted at midnight, i would still be disappointed with it, but i wouldn't be angry. i had a really busy day at work yet i kept wasting time checking on the line up for updates. and when it was ultimately underwhelming, not only was i disappointed, but pissed off that i got so distracted by it. the trickle thing was cool for a while and would have been great if it had paid off with a line up like 2007, 2008 or 2009 (or at the least, a line up that wasn't missing a bunch of acts). all this time, all this speculation...it was all a waste. i skipped 'Roo in 2007 and 2009 and regretted it deeply both times. there are only a handful of things I will regret about not seeing this line up.
sorry to be so negative, i just feel like i pissed away a lot of time and energy for nothing. i know acts will be added, but it's going to take a lot for me to get over this initial anger/disappointment. i feel betrayed.
If MMJ are confirmed in an artist addition, then all will be forgiven and you can count on me being back on the farm. If not, well then, I guess I won't be making it five years in a row like I had always dreamed. It's not that I'm disappointed with the line up, it just left me feeling underwhelmed. There were no bands like previous years that had me thinking, "I HAVE TO BE THERE FOR THAT!!!!!!" (Flaming Lips doing DSOTM certainly does come close though), and it pains me to say this, but Coachella really did a number on Bonnaroo this year. I thought Bonnaroo was the leader in North American Festivals, not the follower. I mean, are we really going to be sharing a headliner? (No knock to Jiggaman, I know he's gonna bring it). I'm not gonna diss Roo though, cuz it literally is the greatest weekend money can buy, but when money's as tight as it is these days, I don't think I can get on board this year. I'm going to reserve judgement until I see the additions, but at this point in time, all I can really say is......... meh.

I never understand people comparing lineups as if it is a fact that one is better than the others. it all depends on the person you're asking and what they music they like.
It's a good start...but I think we will see some of the more amazing adds in the weeks to come. I just can't believe that this is the "Big Bang" for Roo after the previous years and knowing what a kick ass lineup Jazz Fest has....and likely what a stellar lineup Lolly is gonna have. I have faith that there are at least a half dozen to a dozen more REALLY GREAT adds to come in the next month or less.....I think they are just building up the excitement! At least that's the hope I am holding on to...I haven't reached my WoW factor just yet. Lots of bands I'd like to see (or see again!) but nothing to make me jump up and say "WoW! I just HAVE to see them this year!! Which is sad for me

very true. while some might disagree, i think it is fair to say that Inforoosters have a somewhat similar music tastes or that they at least have many constant overlapping favorite artists. so i guess it might be expected to see a lot of negativity on the board right now. however, if you do a live twitter search for bonnaroo you will find many people ecstatic about this year's line up. one man's trash is another mans treasure.
