Coldplay would be free, but I don't think it's likely because it seems like they are about to be in the South American tour to wrap up the era of touring thing that it seems like a lot of bands do. I bet they release an album after this years Bonnaroo but before 2011 making them more likely for 11.

That was the only thing, I don't know if they're going to tour after March.
Really the only reason why I put them there was because they're flying under the radar. It always seem like we get one headliner who nobody discusses before the festival.
Yes, sometimes a digital medium isn't quite the best for sarcasm.
And Crunchy to matt14 for reminding me about Celine. I would totally love to see "Because You Loved Me" at 3am. Or that Titantic song. I'd have skipped out on Girl Talk or Oakenfold if she was scheduled last Friday @ 2am.
I would have thought coldplay would have been more likely last summer if anything it would catch me really off guard. Why RHCP? that would thrill me.
Because it's the only big NA fest they havent headlined. They fit in with a certain funk/rock hybrid. And with all the awesome guitarists there last year we are gonna need Frushiante this year.

My issue with RHCP is the songs they choose to play. They have pretty much forgotten what a great Punk/Funk/Rock/Rap band they were and mainly now play there newer stuff and one or two old "hits".
Here is the most recent setlist

If they start playing stuff off of Freaky Styley, Mothers Milkj, and more than Give It Away off of BSSM then I would be delighted to see them. They were one of my favorite bands growing up, and when I hear this new stuff it just makes me shake my head and go "What happened to you guys, you used to be cool"

I just can't stand Keidis. I like a lot of the material of their last 3 records (they do seem to be impeccable at choosing singles) but I agree their is a big aspect of their sound they have abandoned since Californication. Seems to have a much more Frushiante influence lately, which admittedly is my main pro for liking the peppers.
I bet if they do play it will be a Metallica sort of show where they just play the old's mixed with the hits. I wouldn't expect Charlie or any crap like that. It would be probably their first big show back with an album in the fall (like Metallica 08)

For some reason, completely unsubstantiated, in reading this, my gut says that the following counts out Waters completely and all but guarantees us another latenight Lips show, with guest stars maybe? ... (unless some other fest with a latenight books them instead...)
"The Flaming Lips will kick off the new year by giving an audience one of the more psychedelic and eccentric ideas the band has yet to offer for a live concert: a performance of the legendary '70s album Dark Side of the Moon, reports Rolling Stone.
When the clock strikes midnight on on 2010 at the Cox Center in Oklahoma, The Flaming Lips will begin the Pink Floyd album with assistance from the band Stardeath and White Dwarfs."

They just do not play the old's much at all I don't even really count the BSSM stuff as old, just much better than what they do now. I want to hear stuff like Catholic School Girls Rule, Fight Like a Brave, Taste the Pain etc... Looking over their stuff it seems like Me and My Friends is the only thing older than BSSM they have played in a long time.

That would be amazing to see. I wouldn't mind at all if the The Flaming Lips had a late night dark side of the moon set, along with a set of their songs a different night.

The only time I saw them, I thought RHCP were great at WS'94 (but that weekend, EVERYONE was "GREAT" )
But, even then, they only did a few songs older than BSSM

I've seen RHCP once and was not impressed with Kiedis at all. He doesn't seem to be able to recreate his vocals live. The band is always amazing but Kiedis ruins it imo.
A Thieve's Parade 2/24 Conspirator 2/26 Kevin Smith 3/11 Keller 3/17 Papadosio 3/18 JJ Grey 3/25 Bela Fleck/Edgar Meyer 3/26 Toubab Krewe 3/27 O'Death 4/11 Budos Band 4/22 EOTO 4/28 Summer Camp 5/6-29 All Good
THe general consensus is that RHCP are not a great live band no matter what you think about their music. In my opinion that is an instant disqualification from Roo let alone a headline spot.

Umm. Do you think they're trying to promote their album by playing the newer songs? That could be it. If they played Bonnaroo, I'd expect them to play old hits to newer ones, similar to just about every headliner has done in the previous three years.
I have said this before and I'll say it again, RHCP are brutal live. I have seen them three times (One Hot Minute, Californication, By The Way) and they were weak. To make matters worse for them completely blown away by their openers. This would be a waste of a headliner for me just like Beasties last year. I would hope that if RHCP were there they would spilt with someone of quality on Which
I was expecting total crap when I caught part of their set at Coachella 07, but I was surprised that it sounded pretty good. Keidis seemed to be on that night. I could have just been expecting complete crap since I have always heard they sucked live, but I enjoyed it.

Okay, officially I don't think RHCP will be there this year, but more likely in 2011 when they try to pull out the stops. This year, I'm getting a feeling it's going to be like the 2004-2005 years.
