boy did i recently acquire some good vinyl! My cousin's wife's parents gave me about twenty classic records. Ill post pictures soon. Some of them were Journey, Deep Purple, Foghat, Woodstock 1-2, Cheech and chong, Hotel California(I hate the eagles tho) And several more. Some are in decent shape but most are heavily aged of course.
Jack White - Love Interruption 7" ICP - LECK MICH IM ARSCH 7" (it's terrible, but I had to) Coeur de Pirate - Blonde F@#$ed Up - Year of the Tiger Islands - Arms Way Islands - A Sleep & A Forgetting
I'm fighting the daily urge to start a vinyl collection. I do not want to be broke.

Everyone go to bestbuy.com, they have vinyl records on an absolute firesale right now in an attempt to save their failing company.
They have the Attack and Release Vinyl+CD Promo that can't be found for less than $35 on Discogs for $7.99 with free shipping.
I got that, Green Day's 1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours and Dookie for $21 with free shipping. Score. Theres a ton of poop to wade through but a couple other I remember for under $10 were Oh, Inverted World, De Stijl and The White Stripes, Iron & Wine's Woman King, Black Joe Lewis EP, and some hip-hop (Blueprint, Marshall Mathers LP, The Chronic)

I finally broke down and ordered some vinyl thanks to the Best Buy sale. I wish I had done it earlier in the week when I first started to contemplate it. Some of those deals doubled in price over night. I'm going to end up spending way too much this month.
My Dad was kind enough to give me his old Rotel RP-2500, and this baby is in mint condition.
My dilemma is my current turntable has a built in pre-amp, and I'm planning on running both of these turntables through my Sony 1000 Watt receiver. My current table sounds amazing on the 2-Channel setting.
I'm gonna need to buy an external pre-amp for the Rotel. Does anybody have any suggestions on a relatively inexpensive pre-amp that works well with older (1978) tables???

This is very true.
Hit up some flea markets or whatever. For example, I got 2nd press Abbey Road for a quarter at a flea market. Some people have no idea about the value of vinyl. Like ITM said, lots of junk but you will strike it rich if you take the time to dig.

We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

Your table will sound a lot better without a built in pre amp Duddits. Does the receiver have a phono setting? If it does, you might not need a preamp.
My Sony receiver unfortunately does not have a phono setting, just designated line-in's. I've also been looking at your Marantz 1030 model and thinking about getting something like that soley for the Rotel and just have two complete setups. I've found a couple Marantz 1030's and 1060's used for around $100, which is what I'm willing to spend on a pre-amp.

I will say, I love my marantz. The improvement on everything from my turntable (which I don't need a preamp for with it's phono settings) and my itunes airport thing where I stream music through has been big.
