I need some help, if someone has a few moments. I am getting a pair of Martin Logan SL-3 speakers and need to get a good receiver/amp to drive them.
damn, that looks like a pretty serious speaker. i don't know much about martin logans, nor have i heard them. whats your intended usage, room size, how far will you be sitting from the speakers? looks like they are 89db sensitivity so not super hard to drive but no super easy either. just ballparking i'd say 50 watts minimum but more doesn't hurt. how much money do you want to spend on amplification?

Thanks for the response!
They will go in the living room in a 2 channel setup for music only, not for the home theater. The room is approximately 25' by 14' and they will go in the center of the 25' wall with the seating position about 12' away on the opposite wall. I'd like to get at least 150w per channel and try not to spend more that 2-3k on the pre-amp & amp or combo. I would like something with a decent DAC and ability to add a turntable. They are my Dad's speakers and he is giving them to me. They were manufactured in '99 and sounded great back then. Hopefully they still do but if not it looks like the company will sell replacement panels for around $500. I'm pretty excited to get them set up, just need to make the drive and go get them now.

Awesome, wish I could hear those after you get it all setup. I used to own Quad ESL-63s, so I know how awesome electrostatic speakers can be.
I have only recently found out about the Parasound Halo Integrated, and it could be perfect for your needs:
Comes in black, but I think that silver looks so sharp.
-ESS Sabre DAC (ES9018K2M). -Asynch USB if you want to connect a PC -Analog bass management if you ever want to add a sub -Dedicated high current headphone amp, if you ever want to listen to difficult to power headphones this will work -Phono input for turntable, MM or MC cartridge -2x160 watts into 8 ohms, 2x240 into 4 ohms
About the only thing it doesn't do is wireless, but Chromecast Audio does that just fine.
$2,500 at Audio Advisor. So certainly not cheap, but it's an awesome looking piece from a trusted audiophile company.
Now you could definitely get by with something cheaper I think, but since I've been researching the Halo myself it was the first thing I thought of when I saw your budget.
Emotiva is another great company to consider, especially if you want to go separates. I use their XMC-1 pre/pro and XPA-2 stereo power amp in my home theater, but you do their XSP-1 pre and add a power amp and come in under $2,000. I don't think separates are truly ever necessary, but they are cool for some reason. Emotiva sells direct through their website.
Further down the price scale I like the Yamaha and Marantz integrates, they generally look dope and offer great value.
Just a few options above, in your price range there are a ridiculous amount of choices.

Thank you so much for the suggestion. I work in Mobile and live in Ocean Springs, so when it's all set up you're more than welcome to stop by. I'm about five min. off of I-10 at exit 50.

Dude that's awesome, I didn't know you were so close. We'll have to make that happen, keep me updated on your system's progress.
I paired it with the Audioengine 5+ speakers. Now, my goal is to get a good audiotable/bookcase to situate it on... they currently are sitting beneath it... too low.

It's a really beautiful and over the top set, for sure. 5 years ago me would have been unable to stop myself from buying it, but I think I'm over boxed sets in general. They are large, heavy, and filled with tiny doodads that I do nothing with. Furthermore I just don't have the room to store boxed sets, maybe if I had a big ole' house with a big 2-channel stereo room I'd be more interested. As it stands, I just want the record.
The only exception to this is the Third Man Vault subscription. Those do often have useless lil' doodads but the boxes aren't enormous, and the pressings are consistently high quality.
Prince - 1999 (original pressing) Led Zeppelin - Houses of The Holy (original US pressing) Black Star - Mos Def and Talib Kweli are Black Star (original pressing, for $2!) The James Gang - Rides Again
On the way to me in the mail is an original promo copy of Gene Clark's "No Other"... really excited about that one.
Any update on the Gambino "virtual reality" vinyl? I got it for Christmas and haven't heard anything about it and it wasn't purchased with my email so I won't get any updates. I just know it gave the very specific release date of 2017

I bought it. No updates. I'll post here if I ever get any.
finally picked up a pair of the much-hyped JBL LSR305. They cost less than $300/pair at amazon and are powered so you don't need an amplifier, just something to control the volume with. I'm using my trusty Oppo HA-1 as a pre, and as you can see my old M-Audio AV40s as speaker stands. this puts the tweeters just a bit too high so i'll need to find a better solution.
based on my ten minutes of listening at lunch today these things slay. just crazy good speakers. makes sense since they measure extremely well. I threw on a few of my test tracks and was delighted. surprisingly visceral bass impact, clear highs without being harsh, present and clear midrange as well.
anywho if you are in the market for a budget speaker i'd put these on your audition list.
