So, I read an article yesterday about the final season of Breaking Bad. It got me thinking of how it's all going to end. Anybody got their predictions for the end ready yet? I was thinking we could throw some out there before the season begins and see how they turn out.

Walt is going to have to kill Jesse before it is all over with.
my prediction is basically what everyone else has been saying.
Walt is now a monster, and cannot be stopped. Gus' past comes back to seek vengeance on Walt and his family-after a lot of dramatic tension Walt goes crazy and kills everyone, leaving the meth empire to himself and Jesse. Everything comes out at the end. Jesse finds out he let Jane die, that he poisoned the kid. He is discovered by Hank at the end of the 2nd to last episode and must face the consequences of his actions once again, but only he dies of cancer in the last episode- Jesse comes out on top
Gus' past comes back to seek vengeance on Walt and his family
I'm not so sure on that anymore. I think that Walt may end up being the bad guy for this season. He poisoned a 10 year old and then cried on cue to lie about it. I think the season may be more about everyone discovering who Walt really is.
BTW, I am pretty much giddy thinking about this season. It has potential to be one of the best seasons on television ever.

I agree with you mostly that Walt will be a bad guy, or more of an antihero. But I don't think they'll make that the plot over 13-14 episodes. If its going to be split up into two mini seasons, I think the first half will be more of Gus' cronies coming in seeking revenge and payback. And how Walt handles it will be what makes him a real villain. In the 2nd part of the season I think he's just going to tip over the edge and pop and fucking kill all of them, and somehow Hank will trace the killings back to him and discover him as the meth cook.
but thats just my prediction. too predictable so i really doubt that's what will happen.

I can see that especially with them publically mentioning the idea of splitting it into two mini-seasons. It would be natural for there to be a climax to the story at episode 8.
Also, I don't know if Walt will necessarily die from cancer. As you were saying, predictability lowers the chance of it happening and a cancer death seems to predictable to me.
About Hank, there has to be some kind of resolution with him finding out about Walt. He came back from what could have been an easy way to kill him off on the show. They have kept that plot thread going for quite a while now. There has to be some kind of payoff. I wonder if it will pay off in the way people may expect though. Hank post-shooting is not the same Hank as the beginning of the series. He may figure out it is Walt, but who says that he turns him in?

I don't think Hank will turn him in necessarily, but I think Hank will give him an ultimatum of some sorts. Like maybe the rest of the Albuquerque pd will be right behind Hank in finding out this mess, or maybe (going along with my theory) after Walt kills all of the Chilean cronies, the Feds get involved and come cracking down on Walt's case. Hank will either find out before-hand or (surprise twist) will have already known for quite some time-and work with Walt in having him try and go AWOL? IDK the possibilities seem endless.

Yeah, the more I think about it, the more possibilities I come up with. You also have Skyler to think about as well. They have to do something with her, and she has shown questionable ethics already. Also, she's not a popular enough character for her to get a guaranteed happy ending.
-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver
See, the more I think about it, the more I think Walt, Skyler, and Walt Jr walk free with a "happy" ending. I can see Walt killing Jesse, whether directly or indirectly (which is more Walt's style, ala poison and such) as Jesse will find out what Walt did to the kid as well as watch Jane OD and die in bed.
I think Hank's story arc will end without him ever knowing Walt's involvement in the meth business. I think if Walt kills Jesse, Walt also twists and corrupts the facts in Hank's eye to lead right to Jesse being the culprit this whole time. You gotta remember Hank already has it out for Jesse, so provided Walt feeds him enough BS about Jesse I think he could become the prime and only suspect. If Walt doesn't kill Jesse though this point would be moot as Jesse would surely spill to the Alb PD/DEA about Walt if Walt gives him up.
I really wanna see what lies ahead for Saul, I hope he makes a return for the final season.
I think Hank's story arc will end without him ever knowing Walt's involvement in the meth business.
As much as I want this to happen, i don't think it would make for a good story arc. Hank HAS to find out. He just does. Its been his character's mission for far too long. He's gotten too close too many times.
Ultimately, Walt is a ticking time bomb. He has to die. We've known from the first season that he is going to die. I honestly don't know how the final episode will happen or if the show ends with Walt defying all of the danger around him and just dies from the cancer, but as I see it, Hank finds out and Walt dies. I'm still trying to figure out the order in which those will happen, however.
And I may or may not think that Aaron Paul is kinda sorta super adorable....
walt jr, his baby sis and hank's wife are the only characters left when the show ends.
everybody else dies or gets wacked.
I'm with you. I think Skyler and Hank are both goin' down. First Skyler goes because of Gus' past coming back to get revenge on Walt, and the Hank eventually dies from something else. I'm thinking maybe he finds them out (or at least finds Jesse out) and Jesse kills Hank in a moment of spontaneity. That would be a hell of an ending.

I think Jesse kills Walt in the finale. I don't know how it gets there, but I imagine Jesse's discovery of the reality behind Jane's death will have no small part in it. We already know that Walt is completely and totally corrupted, but Jesse has still shown flashes of guilt and compassion; I think the series will end with the total erosion of Jesse's morality (mostly due to Walt's manipulation of his emotions).
Either that, or Walt will kill his family and Jesse. I don't know. I just wanna see more episodes.

I heard about the breaking up of the season a week or so ago. Sooo lame. So disapointing and so very very lame.
Longtime and Frequent Poster - I'm thinking they're taking a cue from The Walking Dead, I thought they broke up the last season into two seasons and it was lame to do so. The first part just kind of dragged with no real advancement of the story and came to a semie predictable climax. I'm predicting BB will do the same. It will plod along at first and around about episode 5 or 6 it will get interesting, then a midseasons finally that will leave feeling cheated with absolutly nothing being close to resolved.

Breaking Bad has no wasted scenes. The Walking Dead had some pacing, dialogue, and storyline issues in the first season as well. Breaking Bad IMO has been stellar every minute of every episode.
I'm thinking they are splitting it in two because they will have two separate focuses.
part 1- will probably focus on Gus' wrath from Chile coming after Walt and his family.
part 2- will focus more on one of Walt's missteps from part 1, leaving him exposed to Albuquerque PD or even worse the feds- and then contemplating having Jesse take the fall for him; exposing the villain that he really is.
Either way, With how dark this show has gotten, I don't see it having a happy ending.

Is it not possible to have two separate focuses without a 4+ month break? This is going to be torture.

Oh it's definitely possible. I just imagine that Vince wants to get it right. Take his time. I can't even begin to imagine how difficult it is to end a pitch-perfect series like Breaking Bad. I mean how many quality TV series in the past have actually had great final seasons?
