What's this, another great concert? Yes it goddamn was; Steak Number Eight!
Did you get it medium-well or rare?
Lmaoo, defs rare. It was the bands final show before the name change that got announced a few months ago and they even played some new material from recordings under that new name in the encore to reveal their name etc (they're gonna be called Stake now). After that kind of special encore, they did another encore which wasn't the plan but because it was their final show as Steak, it made sense to go full force one last time before the new chapter.
Making the drive to Chicago to see them in March. I’m super excited.
Man, they're such a solid band live. The RAM-comparisons from the record completely fade live tbh, I think there were only two songs (one being the track that DP produced themselves) that kinda made me think about that album but for the rest they have their own sound and style. Hetherington and Crommelin are really something live, they're so dynamic.

Ghost last night in Mobile was fn badass, def the best of the three times I've seen them. They played almost three hours, which I was not expecting at all.
Def worth hitting up this tour if you have a chance! I'm only a casual fan but will def be listening to them more after this show.
They even covered Roky Erickson's "If You Have Ghosts" which was unexpected and awesome.
Got a date with Thom tonight in DC. Will report back.
Anybody seen him yet this tour? Really hoping we get Unmade.
We got unmade! I was a lot closer for the Day for Night set but enjoyed this show more. The acoustics in the JFK center were perfect and I had a clear view of the visuals the entire time. Really love the playfulness of the set and many of the songs just flowed right into the next one. Seemed like Thom and Nigel are just having a shit load of fun up there. Still one of most visually stimulating shows I’ve ever seen.
Also, don’t miss the opener, Oliver Coates, this cat was playing the cello and upright bass like an electric guitar mixed with sneaky good electro beats. Really beautiful off the wall stuff.

What time did the opener start and end, and what time did Thom start and end?

Opener started right at 730, went till 815 I think. Thom started around 845 and was done a little before 1030.

Saw Fleetwood Mac last night, and they blew away all my expectations. Even without Lindsey Buckingham, they were by par the best legacy act I’ve seen. 2 hours of nonstop hits and a great tribute to Tom Petty. My only negative was Stevie dedicating Landslide to Bush Sr.

Goddamn baby boomer prices. I'm hoping to win free tickets, or that Stubhub prices come crashing down.

I lucked out and my partner’s baby boomer mother bought our tickets. I don’t even want to know how much she paid.
Just saw Steven Wilson fer the first time since I last caught Porcupine Tree back in...maybe 2008? That show was so fuckin’ awesome! And I got to share it with one of my oldest friends and best concert buddy! Total bro night. Two beers a piece.
Anyway, he offered a pretty good mix of his solo material and his other bands. I would’ve preferred other Porcupine Tree songs personally, but I was still really happy to hear those tunes live again!

how full was the crowd? hoping to get through all my christmas shopping before i get these tickets, i don't feel like it'll sell out but he hasn't been here in a decade.

Don’t sleep on tickets! My show sold out maybe two weeks before the show! I didn’t expect it to!
So the cover band show was actually pretty good. Cypress Ill opened and didn't totally suck, which I would expect a Cypress Hill cover band to suck.
Third Eye was better than I expected them to be. I imagine that shit is not easy to play and they pulled it off pretty well. I found one advantage to cover bands is that they play stuff Tool probably isn't going to play. They ended the set with Hooker, Sober and Bottom.
The RATM cover band surprised me as well. They nailed pretty much everything musically. It was a different singer than the one I'd seen on youtube and he was a lot better than the Fred Durst looking dude. Still weird to see crazy white guy playing Zach, but he did it pretty well.
