Chance the Rapper last night. He keeps getting better and better. He has a weird puppet show incorporated into it now. I felt like I was at church and also on Sesame Street. The venue was packed, sold out day tickets went on sale. He could have played the arena down the street with all the kids trying to find scalped tickets

Saw Dweezil Zappa play whatever the fuck he wanted at the Brooklyn Bowl this weekend. This was my fourth time seeing him, and as always, it was a great show. They have a couple of new band members who were both fantastic. Dweezil talked a lot more than he usually does, including a little bit about what Ahmet and Diva are trying to do, which is pretty sad business.

James Blake was incredible last night. His light show is second to none. I'm really glad I caught him in a club, because I don't think his show would be too great at a festival due to the extreme quiet and loud parts of his show. During his encore he asked the crowd to be quiet while he was looping because his mic picks up so much. I have never ever heard a place like the house of blues get that quiet. Literally not a sound.
What a fantastic show last night! A smaller crowd, which is always nice for a short person like me. Charlotte Day Wilson opened for Local Natives. She has a great voice, but the two guys backing her on drums and keyboards were quite dull. She picked it up about five songs in with a song she said she cowrote with BadBadNotGood. And on her next song, she played the saxophone, which got the crowd's attention for the rest of her set.
As much as I love Local Natives, I wasn't sure how I would enjoy them live, since their music is low key and I generally enjoy a more energetic live show. But they certainly did not disappoint with tons of energy and great stage presence. The lighting was phenomenal. Very simple, but a great use of back lighting on a large sheer white background to create interesting silhouettes. They opened with Past Lives, which was a perfect opening, in my opinion. The harmonies were beautiful, the set list was great. They played nine songs from Sunlit Youth, which was perfect because I can't get enough of the album. But they didn't play World News, which was slightly disappointing. Coins is probably one of the sexiest songs I've ever heard live.
I broke out the 2013 Tour shirt at Bear Creek last week. I only break that out once or twice a year, and always one or two people will come up and tell me how much they love them. Looks like that show was spectacular.

It really was. Glad I went even though I didn't have the best of seats (third row second balcony). Only other chance I got to see them was at Lolla and they played at like 4 in the afternoon there. This show was a make up to myself.

Went and saw Sigur Ros last night at the Academy of Music. Row H on the floor directly center. I brought my older brother who isn't too familiar with them, but goes to shows often like I do. I. however, fucking love Sigur Ros. We were so blown away oh man. Their light show is one of a kind, and mixing that with the incredible sound quality of the Academy and the beauty of their music created quite the spectacle.
The added bonus of being able to leave at intermission to toke was definitely nice too.

I saw Thee Oh Sees last night. I thought it was going to be impossible for the crazy high expectations I had for the show due to Boner and monster's homering on here to be met, but God dammit that was one of the best shows I have ever seen

I went to Adult Swim's New York Comic Con after party on Saturday and Flying Lotus showed up and did a surprise set. Pretty sick. He did a Captain Murphy medley too.

Made me proud of an audience for once.
I was there too and loved the show. Did get into a small spat with some obnoxious folks. But that's par for the course nowadays.
adele was somehow even more incredible than i imagined. she sounded amazing, and was so funny in her banter and storytelling between songs. i'm not convinced she's a real life person.

welcome to the other side friend. The current line up is better than their recent 3 piece, but it's good to hear it was a great show. It still won't be the same without Bridgid. I'm hoping to see them next month in Vancouver.
Sigur Ros two nights ago, just oh my god. It was so wonderful to take moments throughout the show to spin around and look at all the diverse expressions/reactions around me: lots of smiles, lots of tears, some mouths agape - but everyone feeling something.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

Yeah I was just blown away. They did such a good job of choreographing the light show and using it to enhance the music. Was really impressed with the drummer he was just on point all night. Also I didn't realize how much of his music was done with a bow on a guitar. Hoping I can find a ticket I can afford for one of their orchestra show in California next year. I can't even begin to imagine what those are going to be like.
Sia was absolutely wild tonight. The best moment was probably when Maddie Ziegler did the worm on stage while a male dancer wearing an oversized suit with giant foam hands attached to the shoulders slapped himself during "Breathe Me".

Sigur Ros was exceptional last night. A feast for the senses. Visually stunning. Sound waves that vibrate your whole body. Beautiful sounds. It was one of the best crowds I've been in, in a gorgeous little 1k person theater. Best show this year so far.

I'm happy you got to see them. They're the best night of rock n roll on the circuit.
Last night in Atlanta was the official kick off show for Nicolas Jaar Live tour (he played a secret show in Athens earlier in the week) and he really put something special together. Being familiar with his DJ Sets, Darkside, and his discography did not prepare me for how wildly experiemental the set would be and he shattered my expectations for what was my most anticipated show of the year. He is going to take over the music world with this tour. Go see him.

I've been really curious how his shows will be. Can you explain? Like was there live instrumentation?

Due to the lighting, it was really hard to see what all is was doing on stage. He has a few tables with a laptop and a couple other pieces of equipment. And there was a sax for a moment. But live instruments were not really the point. I think the live aspect has to do with the sound experiments and jams he does within his original compositions. It was far removed from a DJ set and a really unique experience for me. I have not seen an electronic set like it before.

Interesting. Excited to see it for myself next weekend.
