Me and and the friend who's accompanying me this year to the fest (/brunch) are discussing what the best Midwestern canned beer to bring is to this fest is. strong beers preferred. Anyone got any recommendations?
That is good. Anything Bell's (Two Hearted Ale is fantastic). Favorite brewery is Revolution. Their Anti-Hero IPA, Rosa, Fist City IPA, Mosaic Hero IPA, and Bottoms Up Wit are amazing (really all their beers are). Right now drinking Pipeworks Ninja vs Unicorn Double IPA and it is fantastic!
+1 for anything bell's. two hearted ale is my favorite. very, very good.
They tell us "Rock'n'roll is the devil's music." Well, let's say we know that rock is the devil's music, and we know that it is, for sure … At least he fuckin' jams! If it's a choice between eternal Hell and good tunes, and eternal Heaven and New Kids on the fuckin' Block … I'm gonna be surfin' on the lake of fire, rockin' out.

Had a weekend trip in Atlanta/Asheville and got to meet up with 10goldbees for a drink. Thanks for hanging out for a quick beer! Beers I got to try for the first time:
Sweetwater: Hash session ipa Red Brick: hoplanta, laughing skull Terrapin: hi-five, mosaic red rye Duck Rabbit- brown ale, Amber ale Georgia peach beer Wicked weed: triple double freak, sweet talker Green Man: La Mas negra, ESB, Rambler pale, wayfarer, ipa Clown shoes: aurora orangealis Creature comforts: tropicalia Against the grain: new day dawning
The Aurora Orangealis was my favorite brew by far. Also enjoyed the green man tour and checking out wicked weed. My 2nd overall would have to be the triple double freak. Time to give the liver a rest for a bit but I am happy to have been able to try so many craft brews while i was down there. I was planning to do a few Atlanta area tours but I unfortunately had too much fun drinking at the porter.
Wicked Weed just got approved for distro in TX, oh yaaaaaa.
WW and Jester King also just released a collaboration beer. To help celebrate, the owner of WW is going to be at JK tomorrow pouring free 4oz samples of 5 of their beers. And all 5 of the samples are from the Funkatorium, and all sound amazing
Medora Cherry Go Lightly La Bonte Plum Oaxacan And their new JK collab
Tonight, I had some Oude Lambik from Hanssens, an unblended mature straight lambic. That is by far the funkiest brew I've had to date. The first sip took me by surprise, I couldn't place the flavor. Took another, and it hit me.
BLEU CHEESE!
Unmistakable taste and even smell of bleu cheese. The most surprising part? It was actually pretty good! Not something I'd want massive amounts of, but my small pour was a nice change of pace.
Oh man. That is different. The liquor store I sometimes go to for high gravs has an oyster beer. I just can't quite bring myself to do it even though oysters are a good taste.
I got abitas bad mother shucker bomber because I was making my sister's BF some drinking glasses out of beer bottles (also and arrogant bastard...going for a theme). It was an oyster Porter (maybe stout?) Either way it was delicious, but if I didn't know it as an oyster beer ID never have connected it.

Try not to fanboy too hard.
No guarantees.
I'm constantly surprised how young it seems the owners of these next generation breweries are. Most seem to be in their 30's.

So Deschuetes announced awhile back that they were doing an east-coast expansion and opening up in either Asheville, Roanoke, or Charleston. The governor came down today and held a press conference to announce they were officially coming to Roanoke. Deschuetes sent over around 150 brews for people at the event, people attending were acting like an NFL team was coming to Roanoke (have a buddy working the event).
Even though I will probably be out of the area in two months, I am happy for Roanoke. Going to employee over 100 people and bring in 80+ million facility to the area.

I got catcalled at The Porter so hard. I was paying for my parking meter and some woman started hollering about my "bubble butt" and then when I hesitated (it was dark, I had no idea where she was) she said "Yeah you, white boy. Mmmm!"

Bell's is coming. I don't know the other smaller new guys. Looks like no Sierra Nevada, Harpoon, or Yazoo in 2016.
Huh, I don't Terrapin being there before. Good for them. Regardless, y'all go get something from them. They make great stuff.
Humboldt and Schlafly are also worth your time. Heard good things about Good People as well. I've only had their flagship IPA so I can't vouch for them. It was good though.

Yee-Haw is from East Tennessee. They went from non-existent to everywhere here in the course of a year. Not a huge surprise they are coming to Bonnaroo. I'm a fan of their Dunkel.
The owner of The Scottsdale Beer Museum will be at Bonnaroo again this year. It will be his 13th year at Bonnaroo. He is very excited about Bell's but New Holland is his fav at the fest.

I can get a solid 65-75% of all that beer without drivin' more than 15 minutes.
That's a bad thing? I know, it's always great to try new stuff you don't see much, but I love the fact that there is soooo much good beer available here all the time. The availability of craft/micro has changed so much here in the past 10-15 years, and I love it. When I first really started getting into beer we had macros, Sam Adams, and not a whole lot else. We had Great Lakes and Crooked River, then Stone and Rogue before everything else started appearing en masse. Now, wow, even the grocery stores have some decent stuff and change it up once in a while.
I get it though - it's fun to try brewers and brews you don't normally have around, especially at a big ol' party of an event.
This is a question for anyone in VT. I'm going up to Derby, VT to pickup my friends snow mobiles this weekend. How far out of my way do u think I will have to go to try and snag some heady topper? Any info or help will be greatly appreciated.
