idk about hershey. i was in harrisburg last march so if something has changed since then i wouldn't know. all i know is they are nice people who have damn good beer and delicious pretzels - best fucking combination ever.
All the movement inside is caused by the yeast. It has now been fermenting since Saturday when i made it. Also, posted most of the steps step by step on instagram as rideincircles.
This beer is a mistake from three years ago when a batch of the high gravity porter (SUE) got a sour taste from a unknown yeast contamination. It was remixed half and half with non sour and aged for 2 years in whiskey barrels. There were only around 600 of these and most were raffled off this afternoon. I am looking forward to drinking one soon and putting the others back.
Here is a neat in depth article on the accident, and how they developed it into this amazing beer.
I was there last April, heard they were making a new brewery out in Hershey
youuuuu were right, of course down in the DC area for the weekend so we stopped on our way down through hershey. a delightful pit stop:
that's their mango triple IPA. pretty amazing. the new brewery is ridiculous but beautiful - just a lot bigger and less "local" feeling than the old location.
Though they're pretty generic, I'd just like to boast that I stocked up with a 12 pack of Smithwicks and a 12 pack of Harp for $20 today. Pretty rad, right?

Hey RIC! I used to brew. made a few pretty stellar porters over the years, I couldnt really get the ales down as well as the darker stuff. I just gave my kit to my brother and he his first batch will be a german kolsch. I told him he needs to make us something fantastic for Roo!
My german blood tells me that your altbier will be fantabulous.

Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

hello inforooers, so i've decided i need a lesson in beer. My friend is very knowledgable in crafts and different brews and he took the time to read about it. Which is sort of what i plan on doing. But i also want to start buying some good beers for weekends. My question to anyone, first beer i should try??
I am not a total beer noob i do drink beer, blue moon, stella, tsintao, red stripe. I recently graduated and can't stand any keystone, miller, frat beer anymore, so i'm trying to broaden what i would normally get at a liquor store. Your suggestions are greatly appreciated.
