UPDATE: I spent all morning trying to get in touch with financial aid about my parent plus loans, since we still have to come up with monies for tuition and books. I was on hold two separate times for over an hour each (I had to hangup the first time because I am at work). I started calling at 8:40am and finally got on the phone with a real person at 11:30am. The conversation lasted less than 5 minutes. They don't have my parent plus loan on file, the person that handles those is in meetings until at least 4:30pm, they will call me back after 8:30am tomorrow morning hopefully with some news. Fingers crossed it is all good once they call me back.
Also, I don't want to ever sit on hold with them again due to the fact that they play zydeco music while you are on hold.
Rent textbooks from amazon. I'm sure you know this already. Especially for the classes that he'll never touch the book again.
They offer it through the school as well. Rented and used are the way to go. I had never heard of renting books before the school said that they offered the program. Kyle and I discussing buying books for those in his field but we were advised to think twice on that since he is going into a field that is constantly evolving and those textbooks will be outdated before he even graduates.
I kept the ones in my field and they were outdated a year later, so we are definitely going the renting route the whole way.

textbooks are a BIG FAT WASTE OF MONEY.
honestly it's a borderline scam.
Borderline hell!. It IS a scam. I never got to sell any of my expensive as shit books back. I remember paying more for my books than my tuition one year. Of course that was back in the day when the books were on tablets of stone.

I'm pretty constantly shocked at all your stories. What the fuck is wrong with this school. I complained about not getting my money on time at Arizona but that's nothing compared to the troubles your having. I don't understand why they don't get their shit together. I would imagine they lose a lot of students over stuff like this.

I am not sure if it is the school or because of TOPS. Although them telling me that they don't have my parent plus loan information, when I have all the corresponding paperwork that says I did everything I was supposed to do is starting to make me wonder. The future of TOPS was in question until just a few weeks ago, so those waiting for that money all just found out what they were/weren't getting it. That can definitely hold up financial aid, since they wait until all free monies are in before they grant you aid money.
At this point, I am honestly hoping that the person I talked to was misinformed and the person that does that job is out right now (like I was told) and they have everything and it just hasn't been processed due to Kyle getting/accepting his award yesterday. Because all this hoop jumping, date payment stressing is really starting to wear on me. I am sure that they have lost students as well over this, if they have had the same experience as me.
OMG! I woke up and checked the financial aid stuff... THEY GAVE ME THE PARENT PLUS LOAN! About $5000 each semester, so he is completely set. I don't have to worry about anything else, other than moving him in. Nobody has called me, and I am hoping that they still do because I didn't accept it and it is marked as accepted. I just know that I am SO RELIEVED!! I don't want the loan, but I don't have to stress about him getting to go to college anymore.

I'm happy to hear that! I've been following your updates for the last few days, and it's nice that things are finally getting resolved.

I feel 10,000x better. It is seriously a weight that has been lifted. We had a HUGE talk about finances last night and then this morning about how he is going to pay off his loans and any extra that is leftover is going right back on the loans I took out. Now we just have to pack up his room and kick him the fuck out on August 13!

I legit lol'ed at that.
but also yay!!! student loans are SO DAMN STRESSFUL. always.
2 years ago my initial grad school loans weren't going through and I thought I was going to have to drop out. turns out VCU financial aid department is just really fucking awful at their job. but I know exactly how you felt during that 'waiting for answers' period.

I have heard horror stories but I didn't think that would actually happen to us. I am still waiting on them to call me, and if they don't I will be on the phone again on Monday. We did the loan counseling and MSP last night but it hasn't gone through yet and I just need someone to tell me we are golden.
But yes, the kicking him out has been a running joke in our house for years. I have always told Kyle once he is done with high school, you aren't living in my house. I moved out while in high school at 17, you can finish and move out. LOL
We are also going to make sure he has a place to crash when there are breaks, but he knows that is temporary and the room is mine. MINE!!!!!
My OB/GYN informed me that he can't give me a tubal ligation because their office is affiliated with the Catholic based hospital in my area. I knew Catholics were strict about abortion and what not, but sterilization too?? How does that even make sense? Now I have to get a referral to a different practice and wait months to see them. So pissed.

Catholics do not believe in any kind of birth control. Sterilization would fail under birth control. That is annoying. Out of curiosity, did you know that they were Catholic affiliated to begin with?

That's where I don't understand the disconnect. They prescribe me birth control with no issue, so what's the difference?
Edit/ To answer the last part I had no idea. We have two big hospitals in the city and every doctor I've had, including my old obgyn who performed my first failed sterilization attempt(Essure, not tubal), have affiliations with both. Apparently this guy only is affiliated with the catholic one.

That's great news! I wish your some the best of luck in college.
I've taken one. I don't think my mom is gonna give me any more unless I need it
I had my wisdom teeth pulled last month. Luckily for me, they were not impacted. I only needed the Rx pills on the first day, then took Advil for the next few afterwards.

Yeah I didn't need or take them yesterday. Glad I wasn't in more pain because those are not things you want to get used to taking
If anyone who hasn't done it in a while is curious, moving still sucks. And in a classic tim allen type sitcom, women have entirely too much stuff. One 26ft uhaul, 3 jeep grand cherokees, 1 camaros worth of crap later. Were here

We are in the process of moving across 10 states with three dogs. It's super fun. We are here now, but still waiting on our stuff.

I can only imagine that packing for that was the absolute worst. Furthest I've ever moved at a time has been 4ish hours away. Even this weekend was only an hour away, but just the sheer amount of stuff my S/O has accumulated over the last few years coupled with the fact that the family that insisted we shouldnt hire movers and that they would come help pack us up cancelled on us last minute (without enough time to find a moving crew), it made for an extremely exhausting and stressful weekend.
I hope that made sense, I'm so exhausted and sore at work this morning that I'm having difficulties forming complete thoughts.
Sometimes I just want to light a match and watch this relationship burn.
only you know if its something worth working out. I spent 4 years in a relationship i knew was dead after two.
13 wasted years and I saw the end somewhere near the 6 year mark and still held out for 7 more years wishing/hoping for impossible things. Don't waste time just because you are comfortable or scared of being alone. Being with someone that doesn't have the same plans, ideas or wants as you is a deal breaker or that is simply not a good match. You can never get that time back.

Medical bills piling up. I'm in debt from the kidney stone procedure already but now all the claims from lab work and doctors visits have blindsided me. I hate money/healthcare

Oh I've learned enough over the years that I'm not gonna try and make a square peg fit in a round hole. I don't even know what set her off last night, but I wasn't gonna let her mood ruin the Foreigner/Cheap Trick show fer me. I'm confident we can work whatever it is out, just sometimes it feels it'd be easier to stop carin'. But relationships do require some work.
