Sucky, but it could be much worse and you booked it for the wrong month or something and would have to pay $400 to change it. Also fly southwest, then you don't have to worry about it
Southwest gets a bad wrap, but they're seriously the besttttt.
From who? I honestly can't think of one thing that they do worse than any other airline and with most things they are far above.
I'm an idiot... I booked our tickets to LA a few days ago and I guess in my excitement that I was actually booking the trip at all, I didn't double check the minor detail of the departure date... We wanted to leave Monday, not Sunday. Now I feel terrible because Jack wanted to see Alice Cooper in Austin Sunday night, but in addition to this he also gets off a 17 hour flight and then 16 hours later he has to get back on another plane... I am a fucking idiot.
And no, I can't change the flights because it'll cost $200/per person to change the tickets to the correct date. Pretty sure what happened was that I had been looking at flights for the correct dates and knew what time we had decided on, then when I went to book I was focusing on flight times not dates. The flight times for Sunday and Monday are all the same, so I didn't notice. Again, I'm a moron... If you learn anything from this story please learn to TRIPLE CHECK EVERY DETAIL when making reservations for things, especially non-refundable things.
I have a friend who recently flew his whole family to Germany. He booked months in advance. One of the travelers was his unborn child. That caused some booking issues and a few days before the flight he made several calls about how he still didn't have everything worked out for the infant. The booking agency and the airline both told him to talk to people at the desk before getting on the plane. Well the people at the desk didn't know a thing. In the end he had to pay $4000 to get his kid on the plane. He's fighting it now, but it's looking like a hard fight.

I've heard complaints about the "cattle call" boarding system, and the rare fancy folks who fly non-steerage class that think southwest is basically a greyhound bus in the air.

I love Southwest, but they don't fly internationally. So the miles that I get with American Airlines are more valuable to me. Otherwise I'd have a Southwest card instead of an AAdvantage card.... :/

Southwest bought Airtran and took over their routes to the Caribbean. So they are international now, but that probably doesn't help you.

If you "check in" on time the night before it doesn't feel like cattle call. You get on and choose your seat early. Always good to check in immediately.
I have heard complaints about it before as well but most of my Bonnaroo trips have been Southwest since I get the two checked bags free.

Technicalities... But no, they still don't fly to where I need them to. If Southwest did fly to Australia though I'd be all over that ish.
Yeah, I love Southwest and will always book it unless there's a good price difference for another airline. However, I do absolutely hate the lack of seat assignments. Even if I check in on time and have my choice of seat, I get anxious about having to decide and having other people decide. "What if I choose this seat instead of that seat and that person thinks I didn't sit next to them because of their gender/race/age/etc.?" I do tend to be quite anxious about weird things though. I know I am a little crazy. And if I forget to check in? I die.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

On my way back from Coachella I paid the $40 upgrade to get #A2 (Vegas to Baltimore nonstop). Best $40 I spent all weekend.
Southwest is the only airline that has a person of size program. As a bigger person I prefer not to sit next to anyone else if I'm flying solo, Southwest lets you buy two tickets for yourself and then refunds one of them after your flight. Also you get first boarding/seat choice. It's taken a lot of the stress away from flying.

I don't mind the cattle call. I'm either flying by myself, in which case I just grab the first aisle I can, pop in the headphones and grab a gin n tonic. If I'm with the family, I board right after A, so there is guaranteed to be a row of three seats together unless there are just a shiz ton of families.
The only problem I've ever had with Southwest is when my flight from Baltimore to Albany got cancelled. None of the desk clerks ever put my name on any of the wait lists for the next flights out.
I still feel bad about how salty I was with the one guy who actually helped me. But when you're stuck in the airport for around 12 hours, you go crazy.

That's very surprising! I'm sure it was an exception/oddity. Southwest is the only airline that's ever called me after they modified a departure time, to check and make sure it was okay for me, and to offer to make accommodations.
The other advantage I've discovered about southwest is their lack of real hubs helps in reducing delays and the ability to reroute. If you're flying delta and there is delays and cancellations in Atlanta or us and Dallas etc even if you aren't going through those cities you're likely to see delays because such a high volume of their flights do. With southwest since they don't fly to hubs a storm to one city doesn't take down the whole fleet and if there are major delays it's easier for them to reroute you to another city

p.s. the time was moved like 20 minutes, lol.
Im pretty sure it was just the people I was dealing with. My flight from Florida got redirected to Raleigh and we all found out that our flight to Albany had been cancelled. So as soon as we landed in Baltimore we mobbed the desks trying to get flights. The woman I got was miserable and rude right off the bat. The next woman was nicer but still never put me on a wait list for Albany or Bradley. Finally, I lost my shit on the poor guy on my third attempt. He was so nice and apologetic, didn't offer any excuses for his co-workers, and gave me a "golden ticket" to use to try and get on the last 3 flights out. I couldn't get on anything but the last flight out at midnight, but we tried!
Im not taking any flights that connect in BWI for a little while. 12+ hours in that airport have given me slight PTSD or something.
Baltimore is kind of a hub for Southwest, as a lot of flights to-from smaller northeast cities not going to Florida end up there.
They have lots of those of those kind of hubs though Midway, Baltimore, Vegas, Phoenix, Dallas, etc as opposed to the other majors which have 2-3 airports that 90% of their connections are made through.

I just now realized my Kanye tix aren't GA. I recently told my friend I got GA so he got them too. I'm thinking of buying GA on stubhub and then selling mine. It'll cost a bit but I'd feel like a dick if I didn't.
Fuck Black Lives Matters. I hate that frickin group! What the hell will blocking the interstate and throwing glass bottles and construction equipment at the cops going to do about anything? They are wasting taxpayers money and it makes people angry at them. If I was on that interstate and they were blocking it, I would run those motherfuckers over (I wouldn't really but I would sure be tempted). Ugh, they just make me so mad! If they really cared about black lives, they would change things from the inside instead of causing trouble by throwing stuff at the police. Go to the police chief or city council or other authority figures and discuss the issue like adults. Figure out solutions to the problem and work to implement those solutions. Forming angry mobs will not solve anything. /rant

Wow. I don't even know what to say here... so much misplaced anger mixed with so much privilege. Check yourself.

Yeah, I was just going to remark how that post epitomizes White privilege and ignorance.
