GRRRRRRR to it being over 2 months since I last spoke to my best friend. We have definitely drifted apart over the past few years, but it still breaks my heart. After being the person to call the previous 2+ months, I finally swore I would not call again until she called me. Well, she hasn't. For my birthday she posted on FB happy birthday wishes & she missed me. I replied thanks & to call me sometime. That was over a month ago. Am I wrong for not calling?
And sorry to all of you going through hard times, with much bigger problems than me. Hope all rights itself quickly. I am not the type of person to do this on FB, so thanks for giving me a place to vent.
I had the same thing happen to me about a year ago. We were childhood friends and were extremely close. She lived in Chicago and would invite me out every weekend for years. Well, she slowly stopped inviting me, texting me, ect. If I would text her we would hang out, but she was not the same. So I said that I wasn't going to text her first and see what happened.... Well, we haven't talked since. At first I was really upset and confused, but I came to terms with it. Now, I have an amazing circle of friends that I call family. They're better than I could have wished for, and I am grateful. Just keep your chin up and grow from this. Don't feel bad for not calling her. You said "call me," and she didn't. If she really wanted in your life, she would make it happen. I'm really sorry you're going through this.

A few words from an old man. When you're young, you think that certain people will be your friend forever -- no matter what. But people change. They go through different stages of life at different times. They get caught up with different issues. Life presents a huge variety of challenges and distractions. The downside is that you will almost always be losing friends. The upside is that you'll almost always be gaining new ones. Don't sweat it.
Now I'm going to drink my prune juice and climb into bed.

Sitting here staring at an empty word document with a 50 page score of "Different Trains" spread out in front of me. I have a 10 page analysis due next Wednesday that I have no idea how to start, nor do I have the motivation. grrrr
I have to get up at 5 am tomorrow to drive to Atlanta, pick up some NHRA merch from a warehouse, and drive back to Charlotte. It's going to be a long day.

I hate that feeling you get when you walk out your front door and walk to your car and you see water coming from the garage. I instantly thought of that episode of The Sopranos, only I was trying to move all our shiz out of the way from getting wet. Yeah, mawfawkin' hot water heater was leaking from like 5 places saturday as I was leaving house to go watch foosball game with a bunch of friends. Wasn't shiz I could do, except close the gas and water vales, until yesterday. FYI. If this happens to you: If you have a gas water heater, call your power company and they will give you a free electric one. If you have an electric one, call your gas company and they will give you a gas one. So the heater was free, just had to pay $250 for electrical work and $375 for plumbing work (and power company has a contractor they use who changed it out, took the old one from my house, and arranged the electrical work to be done). The good this is, if it happens again 20 years from now and I end up renting this house out, I can swap back to gas and the gas line will already be there so it will be even cheaper.
I researched tankless water heaters and they are not worth the investment. $1200 - $400 discount + $1200 for installation. The savings would take 20 years to make up for the extra cost and that is essentially the predicted life of the unit. I couldn't do it anyway, because it has to be installed outside the house and that side of the house is on the neighbor's property line.

And clearly you aren't a rapist (I hope) but the way you pop into any thread where a woman happens to be lamenting her lack of ride to Bonnaroo and tell them to come hop on your bus sounds extremely rapey.
I was hospitalized last night and am having to have emergency surgery today. Looks like I'll be here another few days after. Not fun.
That's terrible...even worse that it just comes out of nowhere. Hoping for a speedy recovery. Try and bring a comp or phone with you and waste your time on inforoo
I'm so sorry, JJ! Sending speedy recovery wishes your way. Hope you are up & out of there as soon as you're able to. In the meantime enjoy the meds & free time.

Jones! I just saw this - crashed my Tuesday. I really, really hope it's nothing serious and that you're doing better from whatever happened. I'll be thinking about you.
My little 18-year old brother, my best friend in the entire world and the person I love more than absolutely anyone else in the world, has cancer. I just found out this afternoon, and it still feels surreal to say/type out.
They're doing surgery to take out one of his lymph nodes tomorrow morning to run tests to see if it's gotten into his bone marrow, so we'll know exactly what kind of cancer it is on Monday (the test results take 48 hours). They think it's either lymphoma or (if it has gotten into his bone marrow) leukemia.
