So I found a dentist who takes my insurance and has good reviews. I had an appointment scheduled with him yesterday. I was in this little office filling out paperwork when I hear him, in a very condescending voice say something like, "I need you to put this into the computer NOW!" She started to say something and he said, "I don't want to look at you, I don't want to hear you speak, I don't want to see you breathe. Just do it!" She said "Okay" and he said, "I said I DON'T WANT TO HEAR YOU SPEAK!" This is pretty much what he said, probably not exact but it was so mean that my whole body got really warm and I started to shake a little. I took a few breaths and went to the front desk. I said, "Excuse me, I'm done with my paper work and can I ask you a question?" I motioned for her to come closer. I said, "Was that the dentist speaking that way to a member of staff?" She stared into my eyes for a good 30 seconds and when tears started to well up in her eyes she said, "yes". I told her to tell the doctor because of the way he treats his staff I won't be doing business with him.
I went out to the car and made a facebook post, calling out the doctor and practice and then realized that she would probably get a tongue lashing if she was the one to relay why I left and I wanted to confront this guy as well. I went back in and asked to speak with the Dentist and she said it wasn't a good idea and he wouldn't come out to talk to me. She begged me not to put it on the internet, saying she had worked there for 10 years and it would harm all of them as they depended on that job and many new patients come from the internet. We spoke for probably ten minutes and I took down the post. I'm going to write him a letter directly. So, no tooth fixed and I feel incredibly sorry for those women working there. : /
I'm with you until you took the posting down. I'm glad you made a stand but nothing will change without people speaking out.
I'd be happy to drop an email or post to said office under the "a friend of mine went there for treatment" if you're interested.
Ya I think you should leave the post up. Sounds like the employees have Stockholm Syndrome (no idea if it technically applies, but it makes sense to me). If the dentist starts loosing customers maybe he will learn he has to treat his employees right.
It's the middle of August in Hotlanta and it's 64 degrees. It's the coolest temperatures since ever (or since they started keeping track in the 1800's).

that is awful I can't believe anyone speaks to anyone like that, but especially in this age of lawsuits and liability- that's hostile work environment. I can understand the staff being afraid of being blamed or punished if business is lost because of FB posts, but I do think people should know how that guy is doing business and what they are supporting. tough situation. I am so glad that the doctors I work with are so down to earth and just generally good people.

Climate change may force a new nickname for your city.
can I just say, a big effing grr to dr*g addiction. one of my best friends is in a relationship with a guy who is addicted. he goes through the cycle of getting caught, going to rehab, staying clean for awhile and then using again.
they've been together for a long time, for years before he started using, and it just breaks my heart for both of them. he's a good guy who just can't beat this right now, and she is obviously devastated and is truly one of the best people I know. I think he just hasn't hit bottom yet, and probably won't quit until he does. I hate to see them both go through so much pain and misery.

Your friend is taking a roller coaster ride most would not partake in. I hope it all works out. Most cannot take the collateral damage. If she stays and it works out that dude owes her the world.
I'm out of town working near Birmingham and my wife just called me hysterical. There were 10 gun shots in our front yard and then somebody tried to get in the front door and then the back door. My neighborhood, East Atlanta Village, has been going through a serious, murderous, crime spree lately. It's bullsh*t. The house is armed, we have 2 pitbulls, and the cops came quick, but I feel terrible for not being there. Word is that there was a cell phone deal that went bad. I'm on my way home now.

My goodness, that sounds terrifying. My thoughts go out to your wife, and you.

Thanks.
Dude got shot 6 times in front of our house, but was still alive when the ambulance got there. It sounds like the shooter tried to escape into our house. The detective is there trying to figure it out.

Oh my goodness, my heart just dropped for you and your wife. Glad she is safe.

Wow, glad she's ok and that all those doors were locked. Be safe on the way home.
Thanks, everybody. My wife and neighbors are all safe. She found the shooter's cellphone in the back yard, which should be pretty handy for the police to find him. Unfortunately, the shooting victim died. I am really impressed with how the police handled the situation. They did not take it lightly. There were so many cops and detectives, I couldn't get down the street when I got home and they made my wife feel very safe.

I'm glad she is safe. I know it was frightening and frustrating for you to be away when this crap happened.

Good to hear everything worked out ok. Sorry to hear about the neighborhood, I've been seeing nothing but awful stories about EAV recently. Hopefully things turn around soon.
News teams have been all over my house today and interviewing my wife...
We just extended our lease for another year, so it will be while before we move. We were looking to buy in the neighborhood after that, but that is questionable now. Violent crime is so bad right now. We were all thinking that the crime would go down once the kids got back in school, but so far that hasn't happened. In the mean time, we are going to increase the security of the house.
Andrea just bought a car. she applied at her credit union at work and they gave her around 7.5% interest rate quote. she used a interest calculator to find out how much her payments would be and she thought it was too high. so we went through the dealership, car is already bought. they pretty much tricked her by not telling her the interest rate, they were just telling her how much her payments were going to be. and that number was acceptable and lower than what she thought she was going to get, so she bought the car. well after she got it I asked her what the rate was and she said 11 something and I was like, didn't your credit union offer you 7.5? and then I did the interest calculator myself to find out where the discrepancy was and found out that she's paying like $20 a month more than she could have been paying. she made a mistake when she was looking it up. costly mistake. grrrrr.

We can file this under "really horrible grrrrs, and definitely not me just being whiny:"
I'm going to look at houses this weekend, and if I like one, I'm going to have to put an offer in super fast, which means that I have to save every penny this week to make sure that I have more than enough to cover the earnest money. But Groupon keeps sending me offers of things I really want to buy. I can go months without ever being interested in a single offer, and this week, there have been like three that I want. I suppose I should just stop opening the e-mails.

Two jobs totaling 50 hours a week plus 23 (upper level) credit hours. My final semester in college doesn't even start until tomorrow and I'm already tired of it.

Today at work i was helping someone pick up a mess. When one item hit him, I apologized and told him I did not throw it on purpose. I jokingly said if I had I would have put a little force behind it. He told me I probably throw like a girl. I told him I don't due to playing softball for 5 years as a kid. His response was he could tell I played softball. Before I could ask how, he says, "it's because of your thighs." Seriously?!?! grrr!!!

As a former softball player myself, I feel your pain.
