My trip to Bonnaroo just about got ended today. I was driving around for work when a traffic light turned yellow on me. I started stopping for it when I happened to look up and saw and heard a nice middle-aged woman desperately trying to stop her Mercedes SUV because she apparently was doing 60 in a 40 and forgot yellow meant the light was getting ready to turn red, so she should stop. I could actually hear her tires squealing over the radio and her SUV started to fishtail it was stopping so hard. I ended up having to run a red light to avoid her slamming into me at 40+mph as there was no way in hell she was stopping in time. Today, I am thankful for hours playing video games, so I could react fast enough to see that nobody was coming on the crossstreet and it was safe to go out into the intersection.
I'm going to Mountain Jam this weekend. Its supposed to have off and on showers on Saturday. My mother told me yesterday she hopes it pours and I don't have a good time up there... because I'm going to a "stupid concert" over my cousin's wedding.
It was my decision to not go, people got me on a guilt trip about it.
Booo those people. Mountain Jam is worth it.. Now if it was your sister or something, then maybe reconsider
I'm gonna do my thing, I'm just annoyed at the ridiculousness of people. Yea yea, family is important. I don't need to do everything for them though. Particularly show up for two 21 year olds doing something irrational.

Don't let them guilt trip you. People make such a big deal about weddings and I just don't get it. Don't over-think it and just live your life. You just can't always make everyone else happy.

I'm skipping a family reunion in Texas for my dad's 65th birthday to go to Bonnaroo. My sister and a few other family members were giving me crap about it one night, and my dad told them "you guys waited to even bring up the idea til April, and he's been planning this since October. Greg, I hope you have a great time at Bonnaroo this year."

I told them I bought the ticket a while back and didn't know when the wedding was. Which is bunk, but they don't need to know that.
I'm gonna have a lot more fun than the rest of my family is.
Everyone should learn how to do their own brakes it is super easy, and one of the biggest auto maintenance things you can do yourself to save money. I usually do not even change my own oil, but I will do my brakes for sure.
Why are people so quacking inconsiderate in the workplace? I'm trying to actually GET SOME WORK DONE (for a change, instead of futzing around on Inforoo all day! ) which requires me to consult with a colleague....who proceeds to answer every.damn.phone.call. while I'm standing there waiting. Really? Am I invisible? It's one thing if they explain, "Hey, this is really important & will only take a second. Do you mind?" But noooo... just picks up the phone (the one equipped w/Caller ID?) and talks for a good 5 minutes before resuming our meeting. This same person complains about the speed at which things are handled on campus. REALLY? EVER WONDERED WHY???
I don't operate that way. If you're meeting with me, you're the #1 focus. The rest of the world can wait. That's why phones have VOICE MAIL!!! Geez, the nerve of some people! HEINOUS ASSHATTERY MOST FOUL.
::: exhales slowly and deeply :::
Carry on. I'll revise this post if I need to be bailed outta jail later.

Probably true, but I looked at what he pulled from my car, and they were shot. I mean rusted out out and bare. I need new ceramic pads, rotors and clamps. While I dislike spending the money, I guess a half hearted yay for not driving off the side of a mountain going through the TN mountains...

I do not think you will have to worry about any mountains on the drive from Chicago, still I get your point.

So about 2 weeks before Bonnaroo last year, something came up with my cousin and he could no longer go. I quickly looked for a replacement for him since the wristbands were on the way. I decided to call up my one friend from school, and he was down to go! Sweet! However, he couldn't give me the money right away because we were only out of school by that point for about 3 weeks, so he didn't have the $290 or whatever that the ticket cost, and told me he'd have it for me by the time we started school again (August).
I thought that seemed pretty fair. We went to Bonnaroo, had a blast, and parted ways for the summer. We went back to school and guess what, he didn't have the money! I was kind of ticked at this, since I know he was working practically everyday of the summer. I brought it up to him a couple times, but he said he has to pay off school stuff, housing, etc. first before he pays me back. He never brought it up himself until about a month ago. Apparently, one of my friends that lives close by offered to let him crash at his place for the summer if he got a job (the friend that owes me the money lives about 2 hours away from me). So he got a job and said he'd pay be back in two weeks. Finally, and I thought hey, I can pester him for it now since he will only be about 10 minutes down the street.
So, I saw him tonight and his job started about 3 weeks ago. I asked him how the job was going, and apparently he already got fired! For his job, he had to collect money for an environmental thing or something, and even though he told me he just got promoted, he didn't reach his quota of $125/day for three days straight, therefore getting fired. So, I now have no idea if I will ever get my money. He told me he was "job hunting", but he has no car down here so my friend would have to drive him to his job and back, and I really don't think he wants to do that. And worse yet, my friend is letting him stay the whole summer, even if he doesn't get a job! I don't understand, I feel bad if I owe someone money and I don't pay it back within a day or so! Throughout the whole time, I even offered him to pay me in increments, like 5 dollars a week until he's completely paid, but that didn't fly with him either.
TL;DR My friend has owed me money for his Bonnaroo ticket for over a year now and I don't see myself getting it back anytime soon.
Well, I think my iPod is finally dead. The clasp/connector for the battery cable broke off of the motherboard. Possibly unrelated the last time I tried to use it two days ago the HD was really laggy and I rebooted the OS. But then it never rebooted, just kept spinnin' the HD and resettin' itself. So much music potentially never to finish bein' recovered...

That sucks, I don't understand that mentality either. Any time I've owed someone money I've always pay them back ASAP and I feel bad about it until I do. He's taking advantage of your generosity, and that's poopy.
My other pet peeve is when I lend people clothes and they keep them as if they were a gift. If I'm giving you something to keep, I'll tell you. If I lend you something, I do want it back. I've never 'borrowed' clothes from someone and just kept them. I just don't understand that.
