how ironic - i saw some last night in the grocery store (is that normal? to sell fireworks in a grocery store? well, it is in south carolina) and thought "that would be so much fun to take to bonnaroo!"
but then my logic kicked in and i realized that fireworks are dangerous enough as it is and probably go best with sobriety.
Good call - what you choose to do you is your call, but fireworks affect more than just you... a roman candle to the back of the head is not fun at all....

one time an errant rocket shot right into the camp right next to me...apparently some girl got hit in the back or something...everybody was okay, but still, that can't be a great feeling
I always buy my fireworks afterwards on the ride home, cause I know if I bought them on the way there I would probably be setting them off there when I am drunk. Black Cats are alright they just pop, I dont mind those. but Bottle rockets and Mortors can set sh!t on fire if something goes wrong.
but they sure are fun to watch. If you were there in 04, you saw the hippies put on a good show after the dead played.
Yeah that was a good display. I might bring some of the harmless ones from PA. They don't sell any good ones around here, like the ones that shoot off. They don't let us have any fun.

I like the fireworks at festies. I dont mind them at all but i would never bring them or set them off myself. I dont trust myself when im wasted. I would never bring them, but I like when others set them off.
at Roo in 2004 There was a massive fireworks display during Trey's "First Tube" encore. It was f*ckin' sick.
In 2002, some idiot set off a mortar shell IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MAIN STAGE FIELD during the setbreak between the two Trey sets. Luckily it exploded in the air as intended, but that was so unbelievably stupid. If the tube had tipped over or the mortar exploded too low to the ground it could have easily injured many people.
That being said, I kinda like seeing fireworks go off at night at the roo. I'm an avid fireworks enthusiast, and know that fireworks can be perfectly safe if used safely.
I love fireworks. They're fun to watch, fun to play with.
I don't bring them to roo.
In 03 a guy set one off right after one of the shows and it went crazy on him. Several rounds went through the crowd before he could turn it toward the ground. Even then they were bouncing all over. A few people got a little crispy crittered but luckily nothing serious. He took the worst of it trying to save the crowd and took the rest of his fireworks home.
I agree, much better to learn from someone elses mistake on this one than to learn it on your own.
Last year people were setting up fireworks all around my campsite during the entire festival. It was very uncomfortable for me to try to sleep when I was paranoid about a rouge firework burning through my tent and setting me on fire.
I say please don't bring fire... I'm the guy all messed up, walking through the smoldering ambers underneathe some ash in the middle of a campsite in the dark...
