I realize that, but imo it appeared that some of the posts were making references to the fears of the Ridiculous Right.
Damn straight. I know I was. How does that saying go? Liberals have no plan. Republicans screw up thier plans, or something like that. People will always blame those that are in charge.

I've tried to stay out of these discussions as a recovering political junkie, but the monkey won't let me ignore this one. Apologies in advance for continuing this part of the thread which is a bit off topic.
I used to believe the same bs that there's no difference and all politicians are corrupt. There's a few reasons I stopped believing it...
First, in 2003 I made the decision to run for city council in my city. I took on the treasurer of the GOP in my county (75% GOP county) and came pretty close. I have a hard time believing the notion that all politicians are worthless as I know for damn sure I wouldn't have been. I also know that my loss was due to political inexperience. If I wanted it again, I could do it in a heartbeat and win. In the years since, I've worked for a number of great politicians who really do care about the people and what's right.
Second, the argument that Dems and the GOP are the same is such utter bs I don't even know where to start. Yes, there are bad Dems. However, they tend to be more isolated rather than the systemic corruption we're seeing from the GOP. They may not take stands when they should, and it's our responsibility to get involved in the process to make sure the Leibermans of the party are tossed out in the primary.
We live in a democracy afterall. If you want to change it, then change it damnit. If the candidates running don't suit you, then run yourself. Simply turning away and using these two arguments, all politicans = bad and dem = rep, is how we got into this mess to begin with. Only you can change it.
Know your rights, people. Otherwise, there's no way to know when they are being abused.
The problem in the City of Indianapolis v Edmond case is that the police had set up a roadblock and didn't try to hide the fact that all they were searching for were drugs and whatnot.
And yes, I will admit that having the DEA involved with the roadblock could bring some legal trouble for the police out there in Lawrence if they try to claim that this was a "safety checkpoint", but still, as it stands now, the roadblock in Kansas is legal (maybe not ethical though)
Remember that YOU WILL BE JUDGED based on how you look until you are in the festival. Take the newest, cleanest car you can.
Do not leave stuff sitting out adn try to look alert and happy.
ALL COPS look for the SAME signs of nervousness. Just convince yourself you are doing nothing wrong and think of how someone with nothing to fear would behave... then, do that!
imakeycaca is right. If it's not going to be consumed/enjoyed before you get there, put it in the trunk or glove compartment and you'll be fine. They CAN NOT check these areas without either your consent or a search warrant.

Lewis Black says "Democrats are a party of no ideas. Republicans are a party of bad ideas." Seems accurrate.
I think that it should be noted that there's plenty of pro-legalization Democrats in office and I believe that the only states to legal medical mary j are "blue states" with Democratic legislatures. The only reason the new DNC can't make it an official policy is because they know that would cost them the "purple states." State by state the ban on medicinal use is coming down and it'll lead, eventually, to legalization.
Shame on the lazy bum who didn't vote in 2004, who apparently would rather have a right wing nut in office than a slightly-liberal doofus. I'll bet you didn't vote in the primaries either.
well man i gotta say i dont think the waka thign will happen at roo. the have a turnpike exit they can use. tturnpike exits have large parking lots where the turnpike trains drop trailers before heading onto city streets. im sure they are using that area. they could not do it on the side of 24 . it would be too dangerous. i guess they could do it on bushy branch but again i doubt it. it would back traffic up too far and cause safety issues. plus im sure part of the reason they are doing it on the turnpike and not at the venue is because they dont want to have 25000 people watching them getting angrier and angrier. less chance of a revolt if people are diriving by and see it out a window then if they are walking by or standing around watching at the fest grounds.
and as for shaming the non voter i am also a non voter. if there is a race between jessica simpson and fallout boy i will refrain from voting. same thing here. our political system is a front. sure the dems a pubs argue about things and make it look like there is a difference between them, there really isnt. they are both part of the same criminal organization(the american government) they are a monoploly. they get decide who we get to vote for. sure you get a choice. choose crook a or crook b. both hand selected by us. and it really dosent matter who ya vote for because its really about who is the biggest crook. who can steal florida or ohio through intimidation and corruption. who can pull the world over everyones eyes and get attention. thats what they want. something to get us focused on gay marriage and abortion and illegal workers that make our economy possible, and national guard service, or purple hearts. who gives a fu.ck about any of that????? the sheep who line up to vote in this corrupt system seem to. i will wait until we can have a revoloutin to change the way our government does business instead of just voting for their handpicked crook of a candidiate.
it will probably go the dems way this election. and then everyone will focus on them. then when the heat gets too high for the dems they will transfer it back over to the pubs. all the time the real powers are doing whatever they please.

Whats really sad is how hard state laws make it for an Independent to even have a chance to run. If your a registered Independent in Ky. you cant vote in the primaries.
yep. and they wont let you be in their silly debates. they wanna talk about themselves and all the good they have done and all the bad their opponent has done. they dont need someone distorting all of that with talk about the issues that affect our daily lives.
You might consider simply being a clean and sober rooer...you weren't born to be intoxicated, you know. It really is quite possible to enjoy yourself 'clean'...and you won't have a hangover to shake off, you won't sleep through half the event and you won't risk ingesting something that has more of a kick than you bargained for.
