I heard in the past that you can find people trying to get rid of tickets cheap while waiting to drive between the highway exit and the entrence to Bonaroo. Does anybody think it's a safe bet to try to get cheap tickets this way? Thanks

The last two years there have been plenty of people along the entrance route desperate to sell extra tickets for dirt cheap. While I've never heard of a major counterfeit issue, the prospect of such an issue, along with the chance that the show will sell out and these spare cheapies will be few and far between, is enough to keep me from trying to purchase in this manner.
Yeah last year I had unload one for $100 on the road. If it doesn't sell out, they'll go for less than face, and vice-versa. But yeah, it's risky, I woulnd't count on it unless you absolutely had to.
In '02 we had an extra to sell and had to dump it off for $50. Seems like every year there are a large number of folks trying to sell the extra ticket. Watch car windows as you come down. Most will have some sort of sign.
I've been looking on ebay. They don't get much cheaper than $325 for two. Unfortunately, my buddy and I can't afford that (he's got to rent a car from northern PA for the weekend, and we're splitting ALL of our expenses 50/50). Thank you for your post CheckeredPast, I did find a guy on Craigslist offering for $100 ea.
while in line at '04, there was this one girl I met that was absolutly freaking out because she didn't have a ticket yet and ended up buying from a scalper who sold it for $300!!
then, a little while later, I saw someone hand an extra over to someone for like $100 bucks... if that girl had only waited about a half an hour more....
