Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo in 2013!!
I was actually joking about all of those. In my opinion, Miley Cyrus is nothing more than an overrated pre-teen money machine. She sends a positive message to kids while also being physically attractive to older people. If you think Roo is bad now, try to imagine it with her headlining! All these 10-year old boys and girls running around wearing her t-shirt.
As for Styx and Rush - not my thing. I prefer to stick to more modern artists who are still somewhat in their prime, and I wish Superfly would do the same. At least keep it to bands that peaked in the 90s! (I am not criticizing Styx's and Rush's musical talent)
Well, I'm not sure why you stuck Rush in with 2 horrible acts. They still play 3 hour shows without breaking a sweat. Although they are not in their prime, neither are many of the acts mentioned in this thread. They have quite a bit of drawing power, plus they still put out great albums. So why not? They'd sure as hell be better than a PF or Zep reunion. (and I'm a huge PF and Zep Fan.)
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**

I think Beastie Boys would put on a better show and float the 'Roo crowd's boat better than Jay-Z. Not to say I don't think Jay-Z would put on a good show. I just don't think he should headline
"We're no longer called Sonic Death Monkey. We're on the verge of becoming Kathleen Turner Overdrive, but just for tonight, we are Barry Jive and his Uptown Five. "
I dig me some JayZ. But Beastie Boys would kill him in a Roo setting as far as sets go. Especially talking about headline material. Beastie Boys would do much better b/c they appeal to the wider range of musical taste that the average Rooster has.
classic rock: Prince metal: Rage Against The Machine jam: Dave Matthews Band hip/hop: Beastie Boys
After hearing about the safety issues with the RATM set at Lolla (De La Rocha stopping the show multiple times to plead with the crowd to move back because people were getting crushed and trampled up front, people frantically trying to escape mosh pits, etc - I don't know that I want to see them on the farm. They used to be my favorite band back, back, back in the day...but the aggression their shows bring, while I feel their hearts are in the right place, kind of worries me.

In response to all the people saying Springsteen will be there, unfortunately his drummer, Max Weinberg, will be committed to the new Conan O'Brien show in LA during June. So if Bruce DOES come, it won't be with the E Street Band, which is what I assume most people are hoping for.
Now if Bruce did a Seeger Sessions show at Bonnaroo, that would be a fabulous set! His solo acoustic tours are great, but don't think would work in a festival environment.
Latenights Thurs -- Flips Fri -- electronica/dj night -- daft punk/sts9 or bisco with dj shadow/z-trip or cut chemist Sat -- hip hop late night featuring the roots with special guests... blackstar, atcq, common, badu, pete rock, whoever.

I don't think it'd be hard for Max to get a night or two off from the Tonight Show (hasn't been a problem for the past 15 years at Late Night). It's not like they tape those 7 days a week anyway - plus, since Bruce and E-Street just did a massive tour this year, I'd say if they do play Roo in '09 (and sweet lord I hope they do) that it'll be a one-off deal or part of a very small tour so he wouldn't miss much time. Plus, I could totally see Conan doing a bit with Max at Bonnaroo - that'd be quackin' funny.

I agree with Becca . . . I don't see Phil coming back to the farm any time soon. If you were one of the 5,000 people left at his late night set, you could head the disappointment in his voice. I can't exactly blame him, they asked him to cut his show short by more than an hour for an absolute garbage performance by Kanye West; that's not exactly the way to treat someone who has be an integral part of the festival.
If this past year is any indication of a continuing trend, the headliners will probably be: Staind Bon Jovi Widespread Panic

^^^ YES YES! I've been preaching this to anyone who will listen since mid-June! ;D
If you would stop and notice that we number every day But allow the many moments left uncounted slip away You don't have to count them, just enjoy them one by one Then things would take a different hue and sparkle in the sun - Phish
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it
Radiohead, Neil Young, and especially Aphex Twin would more than guarantee I'm going to the farm next year.
There has been a decent amount of Aphex Twin love around here. Hopefully Superfly notices this and will do something about it... apparently he was a big hit at Coachella, as well.

and I will be at Rothbury.
They should have just told Kanye to quacking get on stage and not worry about what other acts were doing. However I'm not QUITE as pessimistic as you Detective...I think '08 was something of an experiment/aberration and that SuperFly is really gonna bring their A-game in '09. We'll see...

I heard not once, but twice that Bruce Springsteen and Van Morrison were backstage at Bonnaroo this year. The first time was from one of the security guys at the Super Jam show and the other I overheard a couple people talking in the press area. Not sure how true it is, but I wouldn't doubt they were there and maybe even being courted to play for next year.

I remember that, too, Jay, but I still wouldn't put much stock in it. Musicians as active as them probably wouldn't just show up and hang out at a festival they aren't playing.
On another note, I agree with others who have mentioned Beasties. They seem to be right in line with where Bonnaroo is going (in a reasonable sense, not in Dude's sense). they'll go for a hip-hop headliner within the next couple years, and the Beasties I think are the most logical choice (even though I'm not a huge fan).
And I'll keep calling for U2. Say what you want about egos and conjectured hypocrisy, their catalogue of rock anthems combined with a stunning stage setup is perfect for a Tennessee Saturday night. Plus it looks like their new album will be out in the fall or winter.
