Would you say the same thing about racial stereotypes?
before things get heated... ALL stereo types have some basis in reality. They aren't all correct 100% of the time but C'mon... I am a very white girl, and fit the description most of the time... it's not a bad thing. It just is. Of course there are exceptions and that's what everyone needs to remember.

I have no interest in getting things heated... My problem with stereotypes is that people perpetuate them.
This thread should've never been started in the first place, along with the threads about metal fans, indie fans or hippies, and associated threads. They just don't accomplish any good.
I get the 'bro' joke. I think bro's are funny. Hell, I would even come as a sorostitute (think sorority girl stereotype) to the lunch if it were bro-themed. LOL! I know how to make fun of myself.
I just want people to realize that these stereotypes aren't true. Most people who think otherwise usually don't have very many experiences with greek people. I even live close to UA (the school another poster referenced in this thread) and many of my friends are greek there...if you think that all greeks are the same, you are sorely mistaken.
Oh and hello to all my fellow greeks out there I didn't realize there were so many of us on the board!

This Jack Johnson thing confuses me. People saying that he's going to bring "frat guys" to Bonnaroo. Hasn't he been at least 3 times before? WTF? I'm not in a fraternity and wouldn't really consider it. But I think the whole "Bro" thing is kind of offensive.
im not a 'bro' or in a frat and i really like O.A.R. infact really all my friends who have liked O.A.R for years ar nothing like frat boys. maybe those who became fans after the most recent cd with love and memories on it(and call them oar and not O.A.R), but for those who have been O.A.R fans from the begining(ive seen them 6 times as they used to play mostly in Ohio) or those who like alot of jam bands and get into Marley. O.A.R's biggest influences are the likes of Marley, Dylan and DMB, hardly 'bros'.
Jack Johnson and Kanye West should bring in every sorority in every state surrounding Tennessee (including Tenn.)
And also, the first post is a joke. Kinda like the "you might me a deadneck if..." thing last year. Kinda like how people joke about hippies. It's all in good fun, folks
Some of my best friends are in fraternities and sororities.
But seriously folks, other than a few flamers, most of the jokes have been in good fun. We know ya'll are good peeps. I'm a fucking music nerd college dropout who works at a mom and pop copy shop. And I currently sport really bad facial hair. I'm very, very mockable...
Oh come down from your pedestal Greeks. I am calling total BS on the philanthropy stuff. You joined because it's a social organization, not to help out other people.
oh right...because you ABSOLUTELY know what my intentions were...that's right...

i can't stand the word bro or anyone who uses it, its pretty gay and annoying
Yo, bro, want to get some nattys and listen to Dave? Maybe we can play some Xbro 360. Then we can play some ultimate frisbee, bro. How about it, bro? Huh, bro?
i grew up in a college town and must admit that i went to a few frat parties. ive even been to a couple that kid rock played.(obviously long before pamela and his mtv fame) im not proud but it happened. and in those experiences i found that the stereotypes are pretty much on target. there were a few decent ones but way too many bros. but they had a 15 foot pvc bong ya had to hit out of a second story window so i hung out.

I lived in that town, and I saw more bros than anywhere else. That's actually what brought my opinion of frats down, big time. And was that 15 foot pvc bong at the one that has the volleyball court out front? If so, I sold some corn to a dude there, and he mentioned having a 15 foot pvc bong.
nope different one. but my dad owned a pizza store and we did a radio thing at that one. it was quite broified. but thats just el. even the dorms are full of bros. but hey it was a short walk to the holland house. or just go get trashed and puke and piss in the hall at cedar village. ahhhhhh.. goodtimes!!!

I went to a party at some frat house one night, got really trashed and woke up in Fletcher. I don't go to UM and I didn't know the dude who's dorm I crashed in, I just woke up there and walked home... all the way to West Summit and Main, I was still drunk as all hell, it sucked. That's the only frat party I ever went to, and yes, it was quite broified!
im talking msu not um. shit id have given a nut to be in AA. we went there to escape the bros. east lansing is the most broified place ive ever been. u of m has its bro population i sure, but it also had lots more diversity. all i remember doing in EL was getting drunk and being dumb. AA was fun. hash bash, top of the park, parties with closets made into vending booths for corn complete with a menu board with prices, drum circles, raves, etc...

Hahaha, I thought you were another Ann Arborite. But fuck that place. It's so full of lame ass, fake people. I can't wait to get out of this state. It's crashing so hard!
it is ironic that the vast majority of sterotypical frat boys i knew in college did nothing but smoke pot and listen to panic and phish all day. not metallica.

a greek is any member of a fraternity or sorority
im a freshman in college, and at my school the greek system is heavily promoted by the university... i considered joining one last semester but decided not to.... but ive meet alot of cool people who are members of the greek world
