PJ is a definite headliner, and I think it's probably safe to safe Metallica is too. Kanye and JJ are the grey area acts, Kanye I could see opening the fest as the Thursday Headliner if there is one this year, but I can't see JJ closing the fest over ABB or Phil Lesh

"We're no longer called Sonic Death Monkey. We're on the verge of becoming Kathleen Turner Overdrive, but just for tonight, we are Barry Jive and his Uptown Five. "
Alright here is my first post after reading you all for years now. I know the line-up history of this event. I attended in 2006. I come from the seattle area. What a battle for us to conquer thos conditions. Sweating sitting down at my rocking chair at 9 am is not common unless i have been jogging. Anyway only the tuest eclectic and versatile music listeners will truly see the beauty of this line-up. I see the only problem being two stereotyped Heavy Metal Bands. This makes me laugh. Now granted I would have not put both the same year but I know my music and no none cann touch my versatility in styles. I am sorry people I love the jamband music more than anything but metallica is absolutely one of the graetest live bands in are era. These guys were pigeon holed into a speed metal dirtball following. They shed that rep by playing with a orchestra for a full length recording and video. You do not have to mosh just dance fast or be blown away by the impeccable timing of a cd like sounding band live. I predict 10,000 people who have negativity about this booking do a 180 and actually by something by this band after seein them perform. How do I know I am that guy. Metallica will outshine Pearl Jam. I have Pearl jam a few times and they are good not great live and also tyhey seem to be hit or miss even within the same week of performing shows. Kanye West is taking heat on these boards. I had this feeling as well until i was at bumpershoot festival labor day weekend in Seattle one year. Steve miller was playing blondie among others. I went to Kanye west planning on bolting within 10 minutes. This did not happen I watched 65 of his 70 minute set. He had a string quartet and many harpists and other great musicians that he tied his beats and lines in. It was one of the most impressive live feats I have seen with it only being executed by a young phenom talent whether you like it or not that is the facts. Now let us get to the rest of this do not hate someones personal success all the bands you and I support in the jam scene would love for this success to happen to them. It is not a sell out when many people enjoy your music it spreads a larger message then. We all want to be a success. Do not forget thr Grateful Dead was very commercial and had some of the highest ticket prices aroung for years. The fact that I am getting Allman Brothers Band, Phil Lesh, B.B. king for pete sakes and willie nelson. Robert Plant and krauss, WOw what a spectrum. The Funk needs to be added. Phil needs 12 am start. Robert Plant, Eddie Vedder, B.B king,Lars ulrich, phil lesh superjam that would be the most historic thing in Bonnarro History For additions I would stay away from rock and concentrate on Funk,Reggae, Blues, dance electronic, rave, Jazz How about Damian Marley, STS9, Pyrex, Sublime reunion with Matisyahu doing the set, Tower Of Power, The Temptations,Moe, With SerialPod TRey, Bill Kreutzmann, ivan neville. You know this is the post of the thred soak it in folks it is reality. By the way the dirty thrashers have abandoned metallica and now mor jammers and college folks are digging them they had the courage to dig out of their sterotype. And I was never a big fan till the live experience which i was pessimistic about even attending. My tickets were given to me for that metallica show.
M83 is doing a late spring tour that goes until early June. Last date given date is June 7 in D.C.
You have to wonder with the lack of electronica in the lineup might they be a left field addition?
This was my first thought after seeing those dates.
I've been calling for Mr. Gonzalez since I first became familiar with him. They bowled me over once, on a double bill with Ulrich Schnauss (who could also find a fine nitch at Roo) and I've been waiting patiently since. This definitely seems to be "the year," as far as the timing goes. New album and a US tour cozying up to the Roo dates -- if it doesn't happen this year, I doubt it'll ever happen.
Edit: Apparently this is the best (tiny) pic of the upcoming album's cover...
Bands with updated or new bonnaroo profiles are. ALO, Patti Smith, Beth Orton, brett dennon, leftover salmon, betty lavette
am i missing any bands with updated profiles, please don't list bands like the black crowes, the black keys, gomez, ect.. because they have old profiles even though it looks like they might play. Also does mars volta have a updated page or not, it looks like it hasn't been updated since 2005 when they played. However others believe it has been updated.
All I got to say is...why the f*ck didn't Bonnaroo book My Blood Valentine? No other festival in the US is getting them this year (except for a possible Poolza appearance which I think is unlikely). I think Bonnaroo missed a great opportunity for them to have another exclusive on the lineup or as an addition (if they're not going to be one). Four festivals are getting Jack Johnson and not one for My Bloody Valentine. What the hell is wrong with America?
Well The Smiths will never reunite because Morrisey absolutely hates Johnny Marr. That was the reason the $1 million offer to play Coachella last year was shot down. Morrisey pretty much said f*ck you to them. My Bloody Valentine has reunited though, are going to release another album, and are touring parts of Europe during the summer.
