Led Zeppelin will not play Bonnaroo. Dream On. The hype would be waaaaay toooooo nasty. The Police were a bit of a big deal. THIS IS LED ZEPPELIN, ARGUABLY THE GREATEST ROCK BAND EVER.
I personally think that Radiohead could be a big possibilty at roo 08. maybe not as headliner, but defintely a what stage performance.
Also, i personally think Led Zeppelin, or at least Robert Plant, isn't out of the picture. Waht i do think, however, is that they will NOT announce this with the lineup and it will be a surprise superjam.
Imagine that. Going to superjam, thinking its going to be some of the best artists playing the festival... and it's fucking led zeppelin. oh the publicity roo will get afterwards, and how many upset zep heads.
Well not Chicago.... not even Illinois, I live in the top corner of Indiana, the rest of the state hates us because we suposedly think we 'are' Chicago too... Go ahead blame us for where we get our news...

They should get Led Zeppelin, and it should be unannounced, but I'm not sure how the schedule will be written? I think Bonnaroo is booking Pearl Jam, Radiohead and some form of Dave Matthews, either with full band or Dave and Tim. Here's what they should do - leave Zeppelin unannounced. The top 3 artists on the bill will be PJ, Radiohead, and Dave. So this will make you think these are the 3 headliners, right? Wrong - have Dave play a latenight show on the Which Stage, and Zeppelin closes out the festival on Sunday. I know a lot of people like Dave, but a lot of people don't like him also. and that White Stripes show was packed last year, so I could definitely see Dave and Tim for a latenight on the Which Stage. But then I got to thinking, well what happens after they play that show on say, Saturday night? Or what will be written on the schedule? You have to put something on the schedule. Could they just leave that part blank? Or would it be written as a special headliner? Maybe Dave and Tim get a latenight, and in the schedule they write that DMB is closing on Sunday night, but it actually ends up being Zeppelin that closes. I got some ideas brewing around, thank you for bringing up the idea of Zeppelin maybe going unannounced. That would be fucking awesome and only Bonnaroo could pull off something like that...
i tend to agree with hoodoo on the ledzep rumor. very doubtful.
it would be awesome - and i would much rather see zepplin at an outdoor show than in some ampitheatre / arena / stadium - but it seems like a bit of a stretch.
that said, we had JPJ last year... if they got zepplin and radiohead at the same concert in 2008, it would probably cinch bonnaroo as the undisputed top of the festival circuit in the US. dare to dream a bit further and throw in gilmour or waters...

Do you think Bonnaroo could afford to have Radiohead and Led Zeppelin in the same year? Who knows what their budget is. With that being said, I just thought out my idea a little more.
Pearl Jam headlines Friday night. Radiohead headlines Saturday night. Dave and Tim have a latenight show on Saturday night. This plays no part of it, but the Beastie Boys play the Friday latenight show. Okay, picture this. Sunday night. 8 pm. Dave Matthews Band is listed as the closer. Lights go off on the stage. You have maybe 60-70,000 people there because they're thinking DMB is closing the festival. And some people like Dave, and some don't. Personally, I love them. Some people leave early on Sunday, I did this in 2005, I didn't stay for Panic's 2nd show. Anyways, the lights on the stage are off. Everyone is expecting DMB. Then all of sudden you hear either Black Dog or Rock 'n Roll, the lights come on, and it's Zeppelin up on stage. You look around at all the people around you, and you see 60-70,000 people with their mouths completely dropped to the ground...

Awesome thoughts, but it makes no sense for Bonnaroo to take the biggest name touring in at least the last 5 years (and by extension the biggest name they've ever had) and not announce it. It would be an unbelieveable, life-altering experience from our, the fans', point of view, but Bonnaroo is about making money. If Zep comes, it will be publicized everywhere.
While entirely possible, I wouldn't count on it. Remember last year, leading up to Vegoose how Superfly devoted one of their newsletter announcements to plugging the Tenacious D film and tour? Many people, myself included, thought that was surely a sign they'd be coming to Vegoose or Bonnaroo, but it never happened. Sorry to say, you can't really make predictions based on what Superfly does, because they are actually rather disorganized and erratic.
Also, karma to iknow for posting the first actual leaked artist! That's what this thread is for, isn't it?

As delicious as the surprise Zeppelin show idea is, I don't think Superfly could pass on all the publicity and hype that would be inevitable in the wake of a Led Zep announcement. They couldn't even wait to announce JPJ last year, even though they've never spoiled a Superjam before the fest started. A Led Zep/Pearl Jam/Anyone else headliner bill would put Roo head and shoulders above any other American fest. I don't think Roo could resist. They will try to book Zep. and if they are successful they will announce it as soon as they can.

The Disco Bisuits will be playing bonnaroo next year, as well as Daft Punk, also, Simon Posford might be making it not sure yet. Alot of great DJ's this year. MSTRKRFT will be playin a late night set as they usally do.

if led zeppelin DOES perform, i will have to wear diapers for that show because i will probably piss my pants repeatedly. that was the first band i ever fell in love with...at 12 years old, much to my southern baptist preacher daddy's disappointment. that band took me on so many adventures and continues to do so...i honestly don't know if i could handle it. but i'd try. i'd sure as hell try.
