Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I'm going to be attending Bonnaroo this year for the first time. There will be some amazing bands, and it seems like it'll be a blast!
I was curious how the security has been in the past. Drug dogs, security, vehicle/body searches, etc.
Also, it's Friday, June 16 - Sunday, June 18. What nights can you camp out, and when is a good time to get there? Is the camp site a first come first serve kind of basis? I'd like to try to get there "early" and get a good spot, as well as not miss anything.. although I'm sure that's what everyone is going to try to do.
AND I was wondering if there is anything you'd really suggest bringing that someone would normally not think of.
Alright, I'm done. for now. Thanks a lot for the info..
You camp out every night. You should get there between 10am-2pm. As far as the searches go i really don't know how to respond. I mean there just your basic pat downs if you have something obvious they'll take it. So just be responsible and everything will be gravy.

Well if you're new to festivals here you go... Basically the first search at the gate is looking for nitrous tanks, LARGE quantities of drugs (in obvious places) and glass bottles... Once you're past that there isnt alot of campsite searches or anything, but on your way into centeroo you want to be carefull not to have anything illegal or otherwise prohibited (within the rules of bonnaroo) in plain sight, mostly its just a pat down and a quick look in your backpack or whatever and you're on your way.... Be smart, if you think it might not be allowed it probably isnt... Im not going to say that you can walk in with whatever you want (although it happens alot) but im not going to say that security is REALLY strict either, its more about being smart and respectfull about the whole thing....
One thing i notice is that staff is cool about water and stuff... Technically you're not supposed to bring any full containers into centeroo but my experience has been that they're pretty laid back about camelbacks and water bottles... They want you to stay hydrated and safe but be carefull trying to bring in booze and whatnot since some staff members will make you let them smell/taste your liquids or even empty them out before going in... Loosing a camelback full of vodka and cran would suck alot more than loosing water would, so know what you're risking when you take a chance....
also i have found that if they do bust you for anything you can just walk away. if they find your camelback full of vodka and cranberry juice just say you didnt know and youll take it back to camp. they might tell you that you cant do that but they wont come after you to stop you. i dont think they are allowed to leave where they are. then you can just got to a different entrance to centeroo. i have done it a couple of times so i know it works.

There are mounted partol officers, but they are present merely to keep the peace--so they don't really mind so long as everything is being done responsibly.
It's cool that you are a newbie to Bonnaroo, I suggest that you take some time out to visit the upcoming artist tent, a.k.a. "cafe tent." It's one thing to see a bunch of heavy-hitter bands like Radiohead, etc. etc., but there are also some bad-ass, tripped out, dancable bands w/o the massive crowd problem of the Main stage.

Off-topic from security -- the "dates" are the 16-18, but there will be music and comedy on the night of the 15th. If you have the option, what I always do is get in line mid-morning on Thursday. I'm camped near Centeroo by 4-5pm in my experience, ready to kick-it, get oriented to where I am on the map, and checking out some live goodness after nightfall.
