"Man and his deed are two distinct things...a good deed should call forth approbation a a wicked deed disapprobation, the doer of the deed, whether good or wicked, always deserves respect or pity as the case may be. 'Hate the sin and not the sinner' is a precept which, though easy enough to understand, is rarely practicsed (sic), and that is why the poison of hatred spreads in the world." -Ghandi
Yes, this messageboard does have a cool vibe, and I hope it's a reflection of Bonnaroo in general. The Coachella board is too full of flamebait fishermen and stupid arguments for me to even go to anymore... The closest thing we have to flamebait here is Keith, and he actually seems like a reasonable guy, even if he does sometimes rip on us non-jamband types, I'd still have a beer with the guy
this place is pretty sweet.
i just checked out the coachella board just for shytz'n giggles. its kinda funny it looks like all the radiohead fans are bitching about the kind of people tools gonna bring in and how mainstream its gonna be.

That jambands thing is pretty funny, the sad thing is im wondering how much of it is going to end up being true... Ok so maybe not so much the gang warfare but the difference in the scene...
“All I’m saying is that if anyone with a stupid hemp necklace or glass pipe starts dancing next to me while I’m trying to gaze at my Vans during the Bright Eyes set, then it’s on.”
D@mn straight. I'm kidding of course. That's really funny though. Inforoo is the shiznitalbamsnipsnapsack, in case you didn't know.
I think it's funny that many of the jam band fans even feel they have a clue what the Radiohead "scene" is. Having seen them live many times since 1992, I can tell you the bulk of it changes constantly.
In the U.S., the jam fans will be surprised to find out that the majority of Beck/Radiohead fans are the same frat boys with Dave and Phish CD's- whoops!
And the rest of the people are music fans who have been watching their career with interest for a long time, who likely have already been to a Bonnaroo for other bands or the vibe.
After reading that does anyone else just have this really ridiculous image of two armys standing on the field of battle to face off. On one side you have the hippie crew with their leader Trey on horse back with sword drawn and under their banner which is a pair of tevas with an interlockin guitar and war axe as the backround. Then on the other side of the field we see the Dirty chcuks decked out in teir wat gear of long sleeve shirts and ripped jeans with thier leader Stephen Malkmus holding thier banner of Dirty Chuck Taylors in front of rising sun. Everyone is facing off and the Exposed toes have thier first wave of naked trippers in front to break through the line. Swords and Glass pieces are drawn and ready for war. WHO WILL WIN!?!
wow, these gangs sound pretty brutal! after reading that i think i need to wear nothing but white t-shirts and hiking boots so as not to be mistaken for a member of either gang- "local authorities" are so funny with the crazy shit they conjure, it amazes me that they actually believe half of the stuff they come up with and some how manage to get others to believe it too.

Dont tell me you took that seriously iskew hehe...
What cracks me up is the idea that "jamband" fans don't want peole there who don't like the "right" kind of music. Like we'd rather have people that just come for the drugs.
do you think people would pay 200 dollars for a ticket to someplace for drugs?? you can do that at home....and its clear its not about right and wrong kinds of music...but this is supposed to be about inforoos vibe so i wont argue any furthrt then that.... but i seriously think if ya have funny thoughts about "jamband fans" and your interpretations of thier opinions that there are several threads that have to do with that
I'm not saying that's what people are like. I'm arguing against that expectation. I was making more of a comment about the article I linked to earlier. Apologies for any misunderstanding.

Keith.... there are definitely people that pay 200 dollars a ticket for drugs.... drug dealers can make more money at a festival than like months working at home... I certainly think its totally not cool to go just for the drugs but there will be people there that do it.... and the nice thing is that those are the only people that will get caught at roo'.... no one just doing it casually or taking enough for just them and friends
theres not gonna be gangs though.. and certainly not gang violence... but speaking as a fan of the disco biscuits I will say that they have one shady ass scene and the more tickets that are still available as the date gets closer, the more shady bisco drug dealers there are likely to be present

tahts crazy talk.... sure there are drug dealers that come only to make money but they are everywhere in life... and they provide a service that is much enjoyed....i was saying that people dont come to roo to do drugs....they come to see music and do drugs in the process... sure there might be some dealers but they are a very small percentage of the crowd and dont have a bad effect on it...its the pigs that have the negative effect so i would say bisco fans = excellent people law enforement = shady ass mofos
and many casual users do get popped by the pigs on the way to roo... so the best thing to do is get it there...where do you purpose we get it? and where do you get it at home? with a name like doobie you seem a little biased against people enabling others to have a good time
what about the food vendors... they are only there because they will make more in 4 days then they could in a month elsewhere, and i would argue that their service is no more neccesary that the services that your refering to
why would you say its a good thing that someone is getting busted for something you beleive is ok? (i assume that from your name)

the funniest part of that jambands article (chuckies vs open toes) is that both of thier defacto leaders (malkmus and trey) are very similar. In fact, trey said in a magazine interview a whie ago (early 90's) that pavement was his favorite band (at the time). I am a huge fan of phish and pavement. they have produced some of the best suburban white dude music ever imo. and trey and malkmus can both shread w/ the best of them . that article cracked me up.
if there are people going to roo to start a "gang war", then i feel sorry for them.
i think somepeople are still refrencing this as some form of real or valid article....it was an april fools day thing...there is noone going to roo for "gang wars" its simply a funny article for april fools day... what are they gonna poke us with their spikey hair and we will choke them with dreads???? i think that the scene will be noticeably diffferent but i dont expect any gang warfare

haha, slap me silly and call me nancy. I guess it speaks volumes that i thought that could be legit. im an idiot. but i stand by my sentiments, these two "scenes" are a lot more alike than people think.
haha.. thats good stuff... a few years back a radio station where i lived did a whole thing abotu how metallicas plane crashed and they were all dead... they played metallica for 2 hours straight... i was heartbroken (it was before load came out..and the napster shit...so i still cared) i went the whole night telling people they were dead until someone pointed out it was april fools day

similar to that..theskyiscrape.com spoofed the pearl jam official site and said the album release date had been pushed back to june, etc...needless to say, i bought it hook, line and sinker. i was pissed b/c i am seeing them memorial day weekend and i was hoping to hear some new stuff before the shows. luckily its not true.
ha, i showed that article to everyone, they are all so sick of hearing me and brian talk about bonnaroo, and now to make it worse i am giving them false information, I fall for everything. back in highschool i overheard some kid tell this girl that gullible was not even a real word in the dictionary, i was stupid enough to look it up right then-it is even worse falling for tricks that arent even played on you
The thing I've always liked about this place is while it's pretty wild and conversations can be out there most of the time, there's always been a courtesy and intent to do no harm that doesn't exist in most places.
In the three years I've posted on here, I've only seen TWO threads have to be locked off due to flaming or other negative behavior. How often do you find that? Only in places like this.
The wait is starting to feel so long!!! after the other message boards i have read inforoo definitely has the coolest people. i finally went back to work, then decided to work two jobs. its amazing how much i have begun to miss checking out inforoo-it is relatively addicting, what will i look forward to after june

bonnaroo began in 02. so id say most of us "haters" are voicing an educated opinion about something we care alot about and have been a part of for many years. much more then giving it a chance
bonnaroo is only new to some. to alot it is a treasured favorite lazy boy chair that has been replaced with some newfangled pier 1 import death trap that is about as comfortable as a bed of nails. thankfuly we still have the old cushion (oysterhead and phil) so we can sit on the floor with it and dream of the good old days

Its not really an educated opinion though because no one has actually SEEN how bonnaroo will change THIS year... You can hate on the lineup if its not your thing but no one has any grounds to talk about how Bonnaroo is ruined or is being replaced by a "death trap"
Im VERY curious myself as to how things will differ this time around but untill we all go to the roo and come back to tell about it no one really knows whats changing... I dont like this years lineup as much as past years either but im going to go SEE whats changing not just make assumptions based on my own perception of the lineup.... I still have enough bands on that list to buy my ticket, thats all that matters...
