Have you guys heard of The Secret Machines. Only heard a few of thier songs but they sound REALLY good. I gotta get thier album. It's called Now Here is Nowhere.
i can not get sick with that modest mouse album and is that the new french kicks album? saw them with the walkmen about a month and a half ago and they blew the walkmen off the stage. check out one time bells
oh yes, that's the new french kicks and i'm a fan of one time bells ;D. saw them with the walkmen also, and they were wonderful, but hamilton leithauser and crew held their own. the kicks have improved drastically with their stage presence, and i was loving every second, but the motherfucking walkmen were rolling. hamilton was standing there so tensely and bucking his tightened body around so much upon a shaky monitor for the first couple tunes...by the third, he pulled off a mean somersault between the crowd guard and the stage. i thought it was a ryan adams spill, but he got up like a champ.

i hear they have a 'wall era' pink floyd vibe to 'em on a few tracks, but are all over the board as a whole. i know some folks who swear by their stuff. definitely one i intend on checking out!

Hey DanBird!
That Secret Machines album is pretty damn awesome. Early Lips, Mercury Rev, Zeppelin, Floyd, and Spiritualized all whipped together to make a very psychedelic smoothie. I'm not a big "prog" rock guy, but this thing keeps it between the lines well enough to keep me interested.
I'm listening to Los Lonely Boys right now. These guys are excellent. I know I'll be checkin them out - I think they have the first slot on Friday on one of the big stages.
Phish -7-30-03 -7-31-04 Camden I'm reliving the glories of past shows attended. I miss them already. aquariumdrunk So, that Secret Machines album is good, huh? I'll have to pick that up soon. I've only heard two songs but they both sounded good.
Trey Anastasio Band Live from the Warsaw in San Francisco, 5-30-03 and 5-31-03. The second night has Santana for the entire second set and the first night is just a spectacular show (although what I think to be a sloppy "Pebbles and Marbles").
