Modest Mouse's(Mice?) new cd- good news for people who like bad news. It's awsome. I also just got and am listening to. Yo La Tengo-I can hear the heart beating as one. And The Bad Plus' new cd. They cover Smells Like Teen Spirit, it's a must hear.

I had a ridiculous night in Madison with some friends Friday night...went to see the Strokes/the Raveonettes at the Orpheum...
I got separated from my friends and ended up somewhere (still not sure exactly) drinking with Sune Rose Wagner of the Raveonettes. I'm sure I made an ass out of myself, but hey...good times! Somehow, some way, I made it into a cab and back to my buddy's.
I had a few close friends over this evening for beer, wine and conversation. I have to say I am quite proud of the 5 disc shuffle I orchestrated for the event (I consider myself one of the world's foremost experts in the art of the 5-disc shuffle):
1) Nina Simone: Nina Simone Sings the Blues -this is without question one of my desert island albums. If you like soul, blues OR jazz, you NEED to hear this album.
2) Funky Funky Chicago: Various -I picked up this complilation of 70's Chicago funk up today after hearing an NPR show on the subject a few weeks ago. So far my favorite track is "Funky Funky Christmas" by Electric Jungle, which has already cemented a perennial role in my holiday celebrations.
3) DJ Shadow: The Private Press -also a new purchase from today. Thanks to DubbyDov for the recommendation.
4)David Byrne: Grown Backwards -I'm in love with this.
5)Ween: Quebec -this is the best of the three Ween albums I know well. I am going to try to familiarize myself with their whole catologue before this year's Bonnaroo.
