The Bonnaroo people have just announced the Mardi-Gras Parade for Friday will be led by a special guest Grand Marshall. Everybody, especially serious musicians and fans should all hope the guest will be Joey Arkenstat.
oh b.t.w. Best not-previously-mentioned (?) film for the cinema tent?
Being that they have not been announced yet, and they have put on an absolutely stellar show both years, I am really hoping it will be Bela` and the gang. What a great way that would be to open the show. Plus they're going to be in the area around that time after. A guy can hope eh?

Dr. John,,,Mac rebenac, who better represents New Orleans, and he in fact, used the word Bonnaroo in one of his album titles. And he was a special surprise guest last year for superjam.
As I sit here listening to one of their albums I was thinking that the Flaming Lips would make for a perfect group to Grand Marshall the parade, and in the TBA late-night spot.
I haven't caught them since last year and am not sure if they're still doing the whole bunny costumes and all but having them back at the 'Roo would be most excellent.
That just popped into my head this morning and figured I'd throw it out there as well? We already got our costumes for the parade I think too? That could make for the best "Holloween" ever if there were really 80k + people dressed up. Hahaha, makes me smile just thinkin' about it. See you all soon.

couldn't have said it better myself, wayne and his entourage are the perfect grand marshall, i talked to kliph the drummer and he said no dice on the late night spot, they're stacked with palooza, the movie and a new record..
Organized religion destroys who we are by inhibiting our actions... by inhibiting our decisions, out of... out of fear of some... some intangible parent figure who... who shakes a finger at us from thousands of years ago and says... and says, "Do it - Do it and I'll fu(kin' spank you."

Sorry for the ignorance here, but what has Tommy Chong done for the Jam band scene? Or the music scene in general.
I think it would be funny to see him up on stage, but i don't recall any of his contributions to the whole scene as much as someone like George Clinton or Wayne Coyne? Sure he made some hilarious movies and some descent glassware, but did I miss something else?
I'm not trying to be rude here at all, I'm just not getting the big pull for him, just trying to get a little more insight to the Chong hype is all?
But thanks Kosmikbunny for the update. hoping I can check them out at the NY 'polluza though. Have a good one all.

well first he's part of that type of culture that will be there......2nd he is a comedian(nobody ever said it had to be a musician)..3rd he is a musician(nobody said it had to be a jam band musician- les claypool or outcast aren't jam band musicians)..4th, he was incarcerated for stupid stuff so he deserves the support...5th, he's a well-known actor figure that everyone knows.
and most importantly 6th, he's one he.ll of a guy.

Agreeable that he is definitely a part of "that/our" culture. There is no denying that.
2nd he is a comedian(nobody ever said it had to be a musician)..
I would just be curious what he would do while on the float? Would make better sense to have someone ( a musician) that could compliment the Dirty Dozen.
3rd he is a musician(nobody said it had to be a jam band musician- les claypool or outcast aren't jam band musicians)..
Still not remembering the last time anyone said that they were going to a Tommy Chong show? Again, excuse my ignorance here, but what band was he in.
And the rest of it I agree with 100%. I can only speculate that he is a hell of a guy, only because i have never had the pleasure of meeting him, but how the hell couldn't he be?
And YES YES YES he certainly does deserve our support after being persecuted by those assholes we call our elected officials. The A-Holes who love to confuse the masses. I mean, what the hell are these people really thinking? There has been a "War on Drugs" for decades now and they keep saying that there about to win. Way to win over the elderly population vote guys (no offense to the elderly here they just vote a lot more than any other demographic). What a Crock of s*&t though, thankfully. But let it rest. Stop spending all the tax payers money on fruitless... Well I'll stop now cuz that is just a whole 'nother story.
But I don't know, I just don't see how he fits in is all, but I'll still be there in costume just the same no matter who will be there. Snd sorry again if that came across as edgy, not my intentions. Peace.

Tommy Chong plays the drums. Remember...he and Cheech won the battle of the bands contest at the L.A. club after driving the marijuana van through California.
