This'll be my first time seeing him. I've read mixed reviews on this forum as well as other places, so I'm not sure what to expect. I'm hoping it'll be "memorable" to say the least.
thats high on my list also. and im betting he plays it. what better place is there to play that song. i was listenning to him last night. i am almost positivie trey will come out and jam. but i think hes going to have john popper come out too. that would be sweet
I say if he doesn't let all 80,000 of us sing 'Breakdown', we just start it up on our own and wait for the band to catch up...if you haven't heard it on 'Pack Up The Plantation' then start there to see what I'm talking about, and to get the lyrics down.
When I saw petty last year at the tweeter center in mansfield i was not impressed at all, and i wasnt planning on seeing him at roo until i heard stevie nicks will be joining him. Also there is really nothing else playing during that time slot.
I saw in the paper that there are rumors that this will be petty's last tour, not sure i by that, but i found it interesting....
I would also hope to see Robert Randolph come out and Jam with him, that would kick A$$.
I did see RR play with two of the Heartbreakers (Mike and Benmont) during a Katrina benefit. Of course, at the time, they were backing up the Dixie Chicks. So it's possible, but I would say unlikely. And I dont think Trey played with the band on the first date. That hasn't been confirmed yet.
From what I have read on Tom's first show, no Trey. But, three songs with Stevie. That's all I will say, as some do not like to be spoiled on possible setlists. If you want to know, gonegator.com has the setlist.
i saw petty last year at the wteeter center in mansfield, ma - fantastic show! nothing amazing mind you, and a little silly the way he ended every song like it was the last song he was going to sing. he has a dedicated fanbase - really tight performance - expect to enjoy it, but not be amazed by somme crazy jam session.
im looking forward to seeing him. i hope he plays last dj...

I have seen Petty 3 times, great show each time. I agree that Breakdown is the ultimate sing-a-long and Bonnaroo would be a great place to do it. Let's hope the band agrees.
