How about SCI, Yonder Mountain and Keller Williams? Or Particle, Tea Leaf Green and Ratdog? The Duo, Leo Kottke and Simon Posford maybe. U-Melt, Brothers Past, Conspirator, STS9... We need more bands like this....
Don't get any hopes up for Yonder, they will be playing the Telluride Bluegrass Festival the same weekend as Roo. Speaking of that, no one get your hopes up for too many big name bluegrass bands to play Roo. Fleck and the Flecktones are also scheduled to play Telluride. Does anyone know if they plan on doing both festivals? I see them staying out in Colorado for the weekend. I am hoping for a Cheese addition. However, they have been doing a lot of side projects over the winter and into the spring. Will they reunite for the summer? Ratdog will never show up. Lesh and Weir are not getting along right now due to Lesh's disagreement with the rest of the band on taking the Grateful Dead's live recordings off of archive.org. And rightfully so, bad decision in my opinion, Lesh is the man. I would love to see some STS9 there. And what about the Flaming Lips, Mogwai, Sigur Ros. They all have large gaps in their calenders around the time of Roo and in Mogwai's case from April-Sept. Bring on Keller, his shows are all the same, it will attract a lot of attention away from better acts playing at the same time.
Bela Fleck and the Flecktones are planning to play 'roo - I think on Sunday.
He was with a band... I saw him open for Jack Johnson, along with ALO, at some campground near the Wisconsin/Minnesota border, at this awesome campground that features tubing down a river. I gotta admit, that was one awesome weekend.
I won't be able to update the original post until we resolve some technical stuff and get my mod powers back, but I'll get Steve Earle and Matt Costa up there when I do. Thanks ElelementGuy and foudray.
Looks like they will have 10 or so bands on thursday, assuming the last part of the list is the thursday music. that's pretty big!! I wonder if they will start earlier or go later?
Also, I think it makes the most sense for Petty to be On Friday and Radiohead on Saturday. Saturday is the perfect spot for them, b/c you don't want to blow your wad all on the first night. If This is true, and they do play Saturday, Saturday will be absolutely STACKED to the rim.
I hope they're not accross from Oysterhead or Umphrey's/Biscuits. But then that would mean Oysterhead and Umphrey's would be accross from each other. Damn.
Got the list updated with Steve Earle and Matt Costa. I can't find the Rebirth info on their site, but I would bet that they are referring to the parade that they have led several times in the past rather than a full blown late night set.
hmmm..I wonder who will be playing late Friday and Sat?I am still banking on Oysterhead and figure Sasha will get Sat night probably. figured Atmosphere and Sonic Youth would play one of the nights, but I guess not. Common can be throw in there and maybe MMW..but I think Superfly sill has something up their sleve.
I think there is more to come in the late night area also. I am confident that Superfly will do the late night hip-hop thing again, but seeing Atmosphere on Sunday makes it seem less likely. Common would be nice, but for some reason I see him playing the second stage afternoon slot that J5 and the Roots have in the past. I was secretly hoping for late night MMJ to change things up for them too.
I could see Dungen and Dresden dolls sharing a tent opposite Oysterhead. And Sasha in another, and hopefully Common or ideally some yet to be added hip-hop. Not sure what that leaves for Friday though, besides Umphreys McBisco.
Friday does look pretty vacant with names.Robert Randolph, moe. , Death Cab, Les Claypool and Elvis Costello haven't announced what day they are playing. Friday seems pretty logical at this point or possibly Sunday..
Thanks Scooter, added DCFC. For a long time they had 6/16 listed but the note to the side said something like "Festival starts 6/16, DCFC date tba". Since that's gone, I'm assuming Friday is probably the case. In past years there were always way too many acts listed on Friday because people just quoted the first day of the festival, but that doesn't appear to be happening too much this year.
mmj and common for late night?!?!?!? god i hope not and really dont think so..... mmj was not very good last year and common is a day time artist for sure, we already know umphreys/bisco is late night, and im pretty sure oyster head will be... so thats prolly fri and sat, i hope the other late nights are common mmj and deatcab so i wont be missing anything i wanna see, but with my luck it will prolly be beck vs oyster head and medeski martin and wood vs umph/bisco although ive heard rumors mm&w might be doing a sunruse breakfest show starting after umph/bisco... that would be sweet, although leaving no time for rest, oh well who rests at roo anyway... but at anyrate it seems to me they pput the less rooish bands in daytime so all the lightweights can be cleared out for the greatness of roo latenight, i mean no offense to fans but who wants to eat a bunch of yucky sticks and and listen to mmj or deathcab all night, id be back at camp listening to a cd
Wow, that's the first time I've heard someone say they didn't like MMJ's set last year. It was one of my highlights from the entire weekend.

DCD will be on Friday that is awesome, gettem out da way, RadioHead will save Friday, it is their only gig they will be playing in the STATES. i AM NOT that big of a fan of RH but i've know enough to be open to some types of music, Tom Yorke is just the guy who is going to keep it all together, it will be a great change from Dave the last two years. MMJ is a staple at the roo and will not dissapoint anyone, except the guy above
What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.
Added I-nine (thanks foudray), and then did some myspace exploring. To my great delight, I found both Balkan Beatbox and The Cat Empire listed for Friday on their Myspace sites. Since I won't make it in by Thursday night and I have come to love Balkan Beatbox, this thrills me greatly and mediates my fear that I am going to miss upwards of ten bands on Thursday. This gives me hope for dios(malos) too. I am really digging them and there's no info on them yet, but until finding this news on BBB and The Cat Empire I was virtually certain that dios(malos) would end up on Thursday due to their position on the bottom of the bill.
damn i got some bad karma off of that comment, maybe the talk is true... maybe the roo will be a different crowd this year..... i hope not...but at this rate it might be a good thing that roos lease is up and might not continue.... let it end on a good note before they announce madonna and depeche mode for next year..... hopefully all the radio cuties will be tuckered out and sleepin by the time the real bonnaroo fires up

Saying mmj, which is a staple on bonnaroo, and always a good show, and death cab are similar is just showing that you've obviously never listened to one, or either of them.

hey keithk1055... where did you hear these rumors that "mm&w might be doing a sunruse breakfest show starting after umph/bisco." ? That would be amazing IMO since MMW is one band I cannot miss being that somehow I have never been able to see them even though they have been a favorite band for awhile now, and I have a feeling they will be playing at the same time as like 3 or 4 other good acts... an early morning show would make it all fit together though.
to tell ya the truth i dont remmeber... maybe jambase.... ive also heard... i think its on here too that the wood bros might play thursday... so that will be awesome and their new album is out tommorow

i don't think the bad karma is so much from a different crowd or even what you had to say, but how you said it....when you say things like "they put the less rooish bands in daytime so all the lightweights can be cleared out for the greatness of roo latenight" it comes off sounding pretty insulting.....pretty much everyone on here is happy to listen to a different opinion, but nobody seems interested in intolerance

im real worried abotu the late night... i have a felling there might be conflicts between umph/bisco, mmw, oysterhead, and beck... i hope it works out so i can see all of them... it will kinda suck if beck opens on sat and it isnt dark but at least it will mean beck wont conflict with anything..... all i know is i will be at oysterhead no matter what else is playin... that might be a one time only chance to see em...
