The main thing for me is being close to the action. A 10 min round trip to the campsite and back is alot better than an hour or more. Sure you can get lucky in GA and be close but you could also be waaa. ay out there. And the free beer on Thursday don't hurt too.
sheeeeeeit, i forgot about the free beer!
;D
I keep reading about these long walks. I thought I was in BFE in '06 but apparently not. I can walk 3 miles in an hour pretty easily. How many miles away is BFE?
Another question about vip if I fly inn and take the shuttle does it go to holiday inn to get the wristbands or only to bonnaroo and if so how would I get to the hotel?
you get your VIP wristband at the airport when you land.
So, here's a question, I'm obviously already convinced to go VIP, but I was wondering, from those of you that have done VIP and GA, how would you say your level of exhaustion and development of exhaustion compare from one to the other? Do you feel like going VIP gave you more energy to dance and enjoy shows or more endurance to make it through the weekend? Inquiring Minds want to know.
I did GA in 2006, and VIP last year. I was way out in 2006 (Pod 11 I think?). I can tell you that it certainly saves a lot of energy, and the feeling of being able to go back to camp several times a day to grab more water/snacks/etc is very appeasing. I was in much better shape in 2006 compared to last year, and I would say my fatigue levels were pretty even when comparing the years.
I've been going on midnight bike rides through my city several times per week this year, so hopefully fatigue and energy won't be as much of an issue.

After lurking on this board for 2 months, and showing my boyfriend all the awesome pictures you guys took of VIP, I have convinced him to go! I am so excited to be camping in VIP! Thanks to everyone for all the great info!

that's a sweet how-to. my boss is going to help me out with a flagpole since he has so much extra PVC lying around, but i think i might use that to get a flag made
Didn't see this posted. I bought 2 tickets for GA, but am thinking about VIP now that I'm reading. Do you know if I can do an exchange? Turn in my GA tickets for VIP and pay the balance?

We have to see how this year goe's it's all about the potty(and the shower)(with hair and makeup potential) so I'm hoping everyone in tent only is helpful in keepping it G A tickets.

Well I hope you are satisfied with yourselves here we are 72 days out. She is a roo virgin, a very willing partisipant and already asking for next year's roo to be up-graded to VIP. No this does'nt make her a bad girl just one who's fond of a clean ,lit, plummbed potty!!

Any help appreciated!
I just did that today! All you have to do is e-mail them! They gave me an 1-800 number to call. BUT, you have to buy VIP and they cancel your GA tickets, you can't "upgrade" them. So make sure you have the full amount for VIP tickets available!
Also, question about this Holiday Inn concept... So I am driving down from NH, this Holiday Inn is located where?? Hopefully I won't have to drive all around to the opposite side of the farm that I am coming in from... I am mildly concerned about this so if someone could let me know more details on this that would be great!!
I was lying in a burned out basement With the full moon in my eyes. I was hoping for replacement When the sun burst thru the sky. There was a band playing in my head And I felt like getting high.
Hey there - fellow New Englander here. I'm driving down from the Sturbridge MA area - about 17 hours. Don't worry about VIP check-in. In my experience, the directions to the Holiday Inn are easy and I've never had trouble with traffic etc. Not sure if it's because of the VIP tix, luck, or the time I arrive. After VIP check-in, which is easy and quick, it's a short drive over to the super-secret VIP entrance. I've never had my stuff searched and last year had my campsite set up quickly. The nice part was taking a shower after set-up! Believe me, you won't be disappointed - my advice, quit worrying and start day-dreamin'

What time did you check in? I'm trying to figure out when we should arrive on Thursday and I think it maybe based on the weather.

Good advice, so do directions to the Holiday Inn VIP check-in come with your tickets? And that also confirms that VIP does get a special entrance, yay!

I assume you didn't go last year or at least not on Thursday morning. The check in and the line for vehicle search was a CF. But from what I was told, a lot went wrong last year so hopefully it won't be a repeat this year.

Last year we arrived at the Holiday Inn around 3:30-4:00 in the afternoon. No line or wait at all. Our camp location was so good, in fact, that we toyed with not going ever again because we could never re-create such a perfect experience. Alas, we are hoping things will go beautifullly again this year.... Another good VIP experience is the quality of the corn. Older folks know how to live it up. See you there....
Hi everyone! I'm a Roo virgin. My sister and I have been wanting to go to Roo for a few years now, but finally we're both able to go. I have a question that might seem silly. I'm a vegetarian, but am bringing a grill to cook some veggies in the evening. Unfortunately, sweet corn will be out of season (doesn't peak until July), so we won't be bringing any. Being VIP and all, I'm wondering if I'll find a veggie stand nearby, or if I'll be better strolling out into GA.
Thanks, and everyone who comes by is welcome to stop by our camp and eat!
You'll find a lot of veggie selections. There is actually a veggie vendor near the fountain and they have great, reasonably priced food. In VIP, the veg selections will be slim pickings, unfortunately. It's basic chicken, starch, canned corn, but it's free which is cool. I have weird dietary needs and I was totally fine last year. Good luck and have fun.
