I have to say my biggest worry was contact lenses - I wear them, I was in a tent and well, there was just a bit of dust...
No issues. Little mirror, some solution and wet naps to clean the fingers, keeping a marked spot in the tent for my case and supplies and I was totally okay and had no issues the whole weekend. I think being so relaxed and not on a schedule ("I have to leave for work in 3 minutes!!!!") made it all the better.
Oh, and big earrings are fun. Sort of girlies up the dirty dress, Crocs and sweat-stained bandanna!
I loved my * crocs * short dresses with full skirts * bike shorts for underneath * Bodyglide for extra protection * bandanas so I didn't have to worry about my hair. I have long hair so I wore my hair down instead of in a ponytail and it also protected my neck. * regular VS Very Sexy underwire bras. Maybe I'm just too used to wearing them, but they didn't bother me at all and the straps are thin enough that I didn't care if they showed when I was wearing a top with spaghetti straps.
I did not love my waterproof mascara on the first day. Too much of a bother - I felt like I couldn't rub my eyes, so I gave that up pretty quickly. Then the only thing on my face was sunscreen and lip balm.
I also did not love the huge zit on my chin. Remember for next year: when not able to wear concealer and powder, DO remember to properly wash your face the week leading up to Roo, no matter how late you're up on Inforoo!
For those of you who have tried the bodyglide at bonnaroo, how did it work?
I felt like my legs were gliding fine (probably from being so sweaty) but I still ended up raw between the legs. I'm sure the dusk didn't help. I might have to give this product a try, especially since it's made for runners.
I would rather not have to wear shorts under my skirts/dresses. I like the air flowing up there LOL, so that would kind of defeat the purpose. Unless I can find shorts that are loose, comfy and breathable. I'm nice and curvy and lots of times its really hard for me to find basic things like that.
I have this dress that I ordered this past summer but never got a chance to wear, but I think I'll bring it to bonnaroo The only difference is that mine is green where the red parts are.
I love this one too though! I might have to order it
Man, 2 days and this thread is already up to 2 pages!
I too brought all dresses last year and totally learned my lesson after running around all day Thursday...I could barely walk, and had to drop $6 on baby powder in the general store. This year I am bringing gold bond! Anyway, I had brought some soffee (like cheerleading) shorts just in case, and I quickly whipped those out and wore those under my dresses the rest of the weekend.
As far as bras go, I just wore my bikini + shorts + dress combo all day, and I was fine, but I am a little on the smaller side. At night I just put on a jacket or some comfy shorts and a tank top.
I DEFINITELY didn't wear makeup at Bonnaroo...just some SPF tinted moisturizer (mostly for the SPF) and lip balm. Besides, my huge shades and ridiculous pink hat covered most of my face anyway. I think everybody should invest in a huge hat...I LOVED mine this year!
Here's a little photo of me enjoying the festivities:
The only thing you can't see are my lime-green mary jane crocs I <3 them a bunch!
Tanks seem like a perfect choice for summer, but they stuck to me and annoyed me at Bonnaroo. Next year everything will be flowy and breezy... I don't care if I will look to be in my third trimester, I will feel good. And flowy stuff is more fun for dancing!
As for Bodyglide, it works but I have never found it to last long enough. I totally agree about the breeze flowing but man, combine dust and no showers with things like Bodyglide and the product just doesn't work as well as it may under normal conditions. The shorts I got were that wicking stuff so I felt cool and not trapped... cotton boxers may be a good alternative...
I wore something similar to alieblue - as far as the shorts went - and then had long flowy hippie skirts - I did wear shorts and tansk a few days and was fine except felt like my shorts were soaking wet the whole time from sweating - Gold Bond rules for the chafing issues tho

It is an amazing time!! I got my dress from Forever 21 for like 20 dollars. In fact, 3 of my Bonnaroo dresses came from there, and 1 came from Target. Around summertime you can get sundresses super cheap!

i bought some thin seamless boyshort type underwear and they were very comfortable. the seamless thing is key and since they go down a little further on your leg they prevent any rubbing you might have.
i wore a lot of supportive bathing suit tops last year and that worked out well for me.
my advice is to take extra shoes and extra types of clothing in case what you think you want to wear doesnt work. the shoes you think will work might not work at roo.
another note. some people were making fun of some girls who wore heels last year. im here to tell you...as a girl who always wears heels - my feet were DYING from the flat shoes by saturday. i was wishing for my pumps. i believe you folks meant that the girls were wearing really high fru fru heels but im here to admit to you that i might take my old pair of black pumps this year - i would have killed for them last year. just a tiny little heel really helps me and i can outrun most of you in heels hehehehehe.
as for makeup. i dont recall wearing anything except sunscreen because i tended to get into the fountain a lot. if some of you like to wear makeup - you could try tinted sunscreen - but that stuff HURTS if it gets into your eyes (like if you sweat or get under the fountain)
Well! Bandanas and Braids all weekend long. and I didn't take the braids out once, hence the severe conditioner when I got home!! heheh I wore my flip flop crocs the whole time and loved them! Power to the all mighty Croc I say!! And I will remember an extra warm blankie for the nights for 2008, and I wrote down everything I used, didn't have enough of, and had too much of. I will write up a thread soon and let you all know. I personally am a BIG C cup and wore a bikini top all weekend long under my tanks. It was the best and I reccomend it to everyone! I didn't pay alot of money, and purchased it at Walmart.
And Make sure you bring your cozy quilt! This kept me warm at nite and was cozy to sleep on during the day! You have to have a spray bottle with a fan too. To all those wonderful people who sprayed this poor Canadian down every so often, I praise you and thank you EVERY DAY!!
I'm not making quilts this year for Roo but I am going to make some shades for our Sunshade that will be quite personalized like the quilts are...... We did find we needed cloth sarongs or whatever hung up in various positions around the sunshade lastyear to keep out the intense sun! Yikes its hot in Tennessee!
ROFL! When I was finding the pic to post here, I remembered one gal commenting on the Thomas the Engine Book laying on my floor. The housework didn't get done while I was busy making the quilts! ROFL. You are too funny girl!!
I would rather not have to wear shorts under my skirts/dresses. I like the air flowing up there LOL,
I try to just stick to reading this thread and not posting, but I found this quite funny ;D I love an honest girl.
LMAO, now that I'm re-reading that, it does sound pretty funny! ;D
soulmate, I LOVE both of your quilts!!! The shades are a great idea. We're definitely bringing more tapestries this year. I really wish I had a lot of fabric lying around the house. I've done a little bit of sewing and always wanted to try quilting. Your work is sooooo beautiful and makes me want to dig out my sewing machine!
I won this skirt on ebay yesterday, and I'm really excited about getting it!!!! I dunno if I'll wear it to bonnaroo, but you can never have too many pretty flowy skirts, right?
