This cannot be said enough, bring some sort of shade other than a tent. Your tent will be too hot to sleep in by 8am at the latest. The ideal is an eazy-up tent that's either over your tent to keep it cooler or next to it for you to crawl out into when your tent gets too steamy. But even a sheet or tarp strung between your car and your tent will give you someplace to hide in the morning.
My other, less universal, advice is to take it easy early in the day and save energy for the night. You will probably not be able to see all the bands you want during the day, AND night, and night sets are 1000x more fun due to the more agreeable temperature and better festival vibe.
I generally take a break to shower some time in the 6-7pm range to reengergize for the cooler portion of the evening. This DOES mean you have to miss one or two bands you really want to see, but it will pay dividends.
... or you can just walk thru the fountain, grab a drank & go see the two bands you wanna see.
Thats the plan. Nothing more disapointing than hoofing it to the fountain with steam comming off my bald head only to find the fountain shut down. (Please keep the water flowing will you?)
+never waste cooler water, its cold and refreshing, great for a shower...
+chuck some ice in your camelbak, will keep you cool for awhile
+DUST - bring a bandana or 3
+a small umbrella can save your life, I have gotten burned through my t-shirt in '09
+sometimes the lines to get into Centeroo are HUGE, so get there earlier than the first show you want to see, I have missed a couple because of this...which sucks
+it's easy to bounce around show to show and never catch a full set, I now pick my bands and stay to whole set and generally have a better experience.

This is what we do for our Roo Shower... VERY cold, but so refreshing.. and why waste the water?
***the HEAT.. we all know it is hot in Tenn in June, we all have read/posted about the heat and effects of the heat in just about EVERY post on Inforoo...but honestly, unless you live on the sunny side of Hades, nothing can prepare you for the heat/sun.. so plan ahead and bring a shade structure and more water and gatorade than you think you will need... you will thank yourself later!

I bet they shut down the fountain so they can sell more Dip N Dots and Italian Ice.

- How far away your campsite could be. Our first year we were past the church near the retention pond and couldn't believe how long the walk was. Nobody was walking to Centeroo to see just one band at 2pm and then walk back to camp. - No matter how much time you spend planning your schedule you will miss at least 25% of the shows you were planning on seeing. - How much more excited veterans are to arrive back at the farm than rookies. First timers are guessing at how amazing Roo will be. If you've already been there you can't believe you made it 361 days without it. - How glad you'll be that Phish is on the farm. The phans bring the party and if you like to partake in extracurricular activities you'll be glad they showed up. - Bring real beef jerky not slim jims. 90+ degrees for 4 days extracts the oils and juices and makes slim jims absolutely unedible. - All of the lights and glowsticks and toys that make their way to the late night sets. Late night sets make Roo for me. - The crowds. Skip seeing the set all you friends are going to and watch the band you want. You will get along just fine with the people around you. Where I live people are known for pushing their way to the front and being aholes. That is rarely the case at Roo and I love that. - The power of a misting fan in a crowded set.

for those reading the last two pages and getting excited that ambien makes you "hallucinate" let me clear things up. yes you technically can hallucinate on ambien. but you are also literally asleep while doing it.. ie. dreaming with your eyes open. you will not be aware of these hallucinations nor remember them until your friend tells you what you said / did the next day. so don't go stealing any from mommies medicine cabinet thinking you're going to have a bomb night. nothing wrong w a little harm reduction.
^^^^ yeah, he chopped the roommate up, "cooked and seasoned" him and ate his parts for lunch. Jeez, this zombie is only 30 minutes from me.... guess I better get my crossbow ready!

For those in BFE, you can save some time by going through the What Stage entrance after Friday. And everybody knows that garlic grilled cheese keeps zombies away.

I don't know if this has been mentioned or not but those sandwich containers are great for holding granola bars so they don't get squished while you're in centeroo
These are absolutely fantastic frozen pre-roo. Then thrown in the cooler to stay cold while at Centeroo. Jade got me hooked on these last year. Lived off of them for every other festival after that in 2012.
