Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I've seen nothing official on the Bonnaroo website, so I'm asking here. Are there are restrictions on taking liquor? I know that people take liquor with them, but I also thought that glass bottles weren't allowed. Am I just taking things too literally, or is there a loophole I'm not aware of?
`we have brought liquor every year . we lay it on its side in the bottom of the cooler then put ice and everything else on top of it. they dont dig down into your cooler but they may ask you to open it. someone that camped next to us was bitching cause they took his pickles because they were in glass and near the top of his cooler

THOSE NAZIS!!! I mean what is Bonnaroo without pickles? I hope that didn't ruin thier whole time there. Yeah. They do sell alot of liquor in plastic bottles nowadays, at least around here. At least midshelf quality and lower.
Crown's good, but it just seems wrong, to me, to not drink Jack Daniels while I'm in Tennessee. I'll be bringing some of that fo sho.
In the Jack tent near the main stage they sell the JD coolers. They were my favorite drink last year. Kelly and I have already had a few conversations about how we can't wait to get to Roo and kick back with some JD coolers.
Last year we smuggled in a full bottle of Crown and a full bottle of Absolute. We never opened either one. Something about the heat, I think.
ya ive never seen jagermeister in plastic though. or grey goose. thats what ill be bringing. jager bombs all night! also if you carefully open a water bottle you can fill it with clear alcohol and carefully put the cap back on. throw it in towards the bottm of some other sealed bottles and they are not likely to find it. i bring lemonade mix too so once im in im enjoying grey goose and lemonade.
I put my Maker's Mark in a travel flask that every liquor store seems to carry. It might be an open container, technically, but if it's in your trunk you should be OK.
I'm also going to suggest checking out the threads "Good beer in cans" and Good canned beer" some good suggestions regarding brew and packaging. Nice thing about liquor is that it won't go flat repackaging it - unlike my favorite beers!

I've got a handy little plastic/metal sleeve for Jaeger bottles. It just happened to be on a bottle I bought a while back and it was too cool to throw away. I think it will pass ok in the cooler.

Don't get me wrong. I love me some Maker's Mark. But any of you newbies out there should understand that these are long days and nights and you spend a lot of time baking in the sun. You've got to keep hydrated. I'm not saying don't drink. I'm saying pace yourselves. (God, I sound like a parent. If the site allowed it, I'd smite myself.)

Yeah, I know what you mean...My hubby and I have made a pact about no drinking until after 4 or 5 so we don't get all sick from the heat and sun on us. We will be drinking water as much as possible all day so we don't get the headaches and stuff that come from drinking in the sun. I know I sound like a parent too but I have done it to myself so many times, I just don't want to see anyone else missing great shows because they feel like crap...I know I will make up for it in other ways so all is good And once the sun goes down, all bets are off...I figure even if I don't start drinking until the sun goes down around 8, that still gives me 8 full hours of drinking and whatever else goodies I find. How much do you really need?
I always make a point to avoid the same day hangover. It's hell.
I actually didn't drink at all at Coachella during the day on Saturday, but that was mainly due to the long line for ID verification. However, it worked out well when at about 5PM I decided to wait in line. I finally got verified and headed off to the beer tent for my first beer at 6PM. It was beautiful and put me in a great mood for the rest of the night as the sun started coming down.
I will be drinking later rather than earlier. Also going to bring a fifth of vodka and a fifth of Everclear. I have found that throwing in a small amount of Everclear with every drink, makes the more expensive liqour go further, also gets your buzz on a little better. But be smart about it... Oh there will be 6 of us in our party.

A good rule of thumb is one bottle of water or Gatorade for each mixed drink/beer. You'll get filled up faster, won't get dehydrated (as quickly), and you'll stretch your beverage budget if you're buying alcohol in Centeroo.
I bring Gatorade dry mix into Centeroo to add to the gallon of water I usually carry, in addition to a Camelback of straight ice water.
Concerning alcohol, I usually have a beer or three during the day and then get down to business with the liquid fire (bourbon) after the sun goes down.
We had a few glass liquor bottles out on our way in last year, we just poured them into the water bottles the church people gave us just outside the gates (oh, the irony!).
I'm a fan of a good morning glass of whiskey or vodka to start the day - then alternating water and beer keeps you with a good buzz the whole day... the water helps prevent the same day (or next day) hangover.

Has anyone under 21 had any problems bringing beer/hard liquor into the camping area? Last year my buddies and I didn't even consider it, thinking they would card us, but this year I am considering, especially with the price of beers at Bonnaroo...
