Just purchased my first pair of Crocs this weekend. I have been reading that these are the best pair of shoes/sandals to wear at the festival. I have been there the last 2 years and last year seen many people with these shoes. Let me tell you, boy are they comfortable. They may look funny, but I cannot wait to get to Roo and walk in the mud with them. I think you should check them out if you are looking for a type of sandal to wear. I have had them on all weekend. Does anyone know how difficult these are to break in? They seem like ideal Bonnaroo mud shoes but frankly I think they are kind of goofy looking and wouldn't really want to wear them around town to break them in. Would I get all blistery if I wore them at Roo for the first time?
They are not hard to break in at all. I put them on saturday and did not even have a problem with them. You can order them on line to. I think it is crocs.com..........Like I said they are not the coolest looking shoe, but hell I am going for functionability. They will be great if it rains and is muddy. I think they also had a booth in centerroo last year and were selling them there. There was a big pile of old shoes and sandals by this booth. After everyone bought a pair of crocs they left their shoes there. I cant wait to try them in the mud, and yes there will be mud there, lots of it, if it rains

my feet were bad lat year before we even got into roo. i got some crocks at roo on friday and wore them all weekend and had zero problems. i dont think they require any breaking in. i thought they looked goofy also bu ti now where them all the time and i have even gotten bonnaroo shouts because of them. i would definetly get some. they seem a litlle pricey for them but it is well worht it
by the way my mom and several of her freinds have gotten a pair as gardening shoes
ive seen them. ive heard really good things, but they are not for me.
they feel like they are already broken in even when theyre new. theyre made of rubber but theyre super floppy yet sturdy.
what im looking for in a pair of kicks that will fare well in the mud, im looking for something that will keep my feet either a)completely dry or b)let my feet get all muddy, but still stay strapped on so the suction from the mud dosnt pull them off.
the crocs accomplish "b" very well, yet so do Tevas and pretty much any other strap on sandal. thats why im not really a croc person. but i would be willing to bet that crocs are way lighter and chaffe less that sandals.
so, im not bashing crocs im just more of a boot person. sweaty rubber boots. id rather be sweaty than muddy. you cant win either way.....unless they bought enough plastic walking grates, woodchips and hay to blot out the mud. now THAT would impress me.
there's something about wearing flourescent swiss cheese on your feet that just rubs me the wrong way... I plan on sticking to a good ole' conventional pair of chacos.

The only shoes I ever put on my feet last year were Crocs and I am SOOOOO glad. They made my life much easier. no matter how long I am on my feet or how much walking I do, those things keep me comfy!!!!!! I highly reccommend it. If you forget, perhaps the vendor will be there again. They should have Bonnaroo Crocs!!!!!!!!!
You can wear them as complete slip ons or you can move the strap to the back for extra 'stay on' power, especially if in the mud. They are great to wear in the shower both to clean them and so you don't catch some fungus. They are truly amazing.
The story behind them is that they were originally made for diabetics to increase circulation, hence their incredible power in keeping your feet untired.

i love that unlike other footwear crocs dont give blisters when wet. they dont even give me a problem when ya get muddy grit inside of them. in 04 i had tevas and when wet and muddy all of the straps would grind that grit around and tore up my feet

I bought two pairs of Chacos two weeks ago. I thought I would have buyer's remorse, because, damn, but now that I'm wearing them, I would've paid twice that.
For those that don't know what Chacos are, they are made in Colorado, so yay for that. Plus they look like Tevas; however, the straping is one piece and goes inside the sole of the shoe so the entire shoe can be custom fit. Oh, my favorite part is that they have a great arch and deep tread. Check them out: www.chacousa.com. FYI - the flip-flops I bought were $65 and the Teva-ish ones were $95.
Crocs sound great and all, but I think I'm too shallow to look that silly. But I won't laugh at you if you wear them ... just like you won't laugh at me for wearing a fanny pack ... right? RIGHT??

damn youll rock a fanny pack but no crocs??? they do look weird but who really cares if they are comfortable an i would argue that they dont look nearly as silly as a fanny pack

its all good i was just teasing. shorts under a skirt would be too hot i would think. just go with the fanny pack and screw what anybody thinks. backpacks are hard to deal with if you like to be up front with the crowd, they are perfect if ya like to chill back a bit on a blanket

last year, for the ENTIRE time i was at roo, i wore DC skater sneaks. THey got retardedly muddy but they kept my feet dry and clean - and my socks didnt get wet once.

I wear my Birks in the campground area when its not too wet or muddy and my teva's in centeroo or wet conditions... Gotta get a new pair of tevas soon and break em in for this summer though... I always bring these gore-tex running shoes i got at L.L Bean a few years back just in case i want or need shoes... Venusinfurs you might want to look at some low cut waterproof hiking shoes/boots, find something with gore-tex or some waterproof fabric you can rinse clean... Make sure they're comfortable, supportive and that you break em in before you go....

i'm gonna be getting some crocs, definitely. some of the folks i'm going with who've been before said they're the only way to go.
and i'm thinking i'll make myself a custom backpack and fit the straps to my body and shoulders so there's no weird weight/rubbing issue, make it long and far down the back so as to keep a low center of gravity, maybe a few pockets that wrap around the side around hip level. lightweight but sturdy, perhaps waterproof on the bottom. i was also thinking of making myself some shorts or pants to wear - linen probably so they'd be really nice and cool, with plenty of extra pockets, including a few little secret tuck-away pockets . . . i just need to decide what would be the best, most inconspicuous place for something like that. any suggestions?

I just wore my regular tennis shoes last year. As long as they are generally comfortable, and you don't mind them getting muddy, sneakers should be fine. I bought some insoles for extra comfort.
I am planning on getting some Crocs this year for two reasons: 1. I can slip them on and off quicker than tennis shoes. 2. I like for my feet to be able to breathe/my feet get too hot in tennis shoes.
