I have a few questions about keeping my food cool. I plan on doing a layer of ice, then frozen water bottles. Should i put a towel inbetween each layer, or no? Also, should this keep everything, including lunch meat, cold enough for the duration? O yea, itl all be in a 5 day cooler. Thanks

Keep your cooler in the shade, that should help. We have a 5 day cooler that we brought last year. We only had ice (no frozen H20) and it stayed icey till the last day. Also, opening at a minimum and making sure that it snaps back shut help keep the cold in.

Didn't know that I had to be so literal. We did not freeze our bottles of water last year. Yes, we did have broken pieces of frozen water (H2O) all on the inside of our cooler.

Last year I bought a 70qt 5-day cooler. I got it at Walmart for less than $30. (I am not endorsing Walmart, but it seems to be cheapest there; plus I couldn't get the link from Coleman to work. Here's the Wally cooler. www.walmart.com/catalog/product.gsp?product_id=2536482) We used it only for ice, kept it out of the sun, and opened it only when we needed to take ice out (to put in a cooler we actually used). The ice in the 5-day was kinda melty by day 5, and we used the melt water to wash our feet as the days progressed. Still, totally worth it - we lost maybe one bag of ice to melting. I wondered if I should have gotten the 100qt, but it would have been too large for us to pack.
