Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I am notoriously horrible at estimation. Does anyone have any veteran advice, from either previous Roo's or other camping experience, of how long it usually takes to make camp? We have about two groups of five with us, and I'm guessing that we all have various degrees of experience. So, some tents, a tarp perhaps, etc.
Just trying to figure some things out now so it's not a big surprise mess!
I only had two in my party and one tent, I guess the time it takes will depend on a few things, weather, how familiar you are with your gear......that sort of thing. Also if it is dark it will take longer. It took us about an hour or so to get everything situated. I would suggest practicing your set up if possible, or at least be familiar with your gear and how you want to set everything up. Good luck!
Definately do a dry run at home before you leave. It can be really hard to set things up one the "party" begins.
I would estimate about 1-2 hours for your group, depending on your familiarity with your gear. I can set my tent up in under 5 minutes, but I've had it since my days as an Eagle Scout (18 years ago). Man, now I feel old...
The three of us set up our camp in about 45 min. We adjusted things all weekend though. This year we'll take longer due to my PVC tarp set-up of doom. I need to learn knots.

As an Eagle Scout I'd say your group should be good in about two hours, assuming that you have folks of varying levels of familiarity and no real plan, or ability to make one, for exactly what your space is going to be before you start setting it up.
As a Bonnaroo Vet, however, I'd estimate approximately four days.
(Sure, in the first hour or two you'll get your tents up. And some tarps. But you'll probably tinker with various configurations for the rest of your stay. Our site kept...evolving...as people had better and better ideas every morning. "Dude, man, we should TOTALLY hook that corner of the tarp to the van doo-hickey...Pass that. Bogart.")
Yeah, Jay is right on the money. That's also why people start merging camps. When you can triple your shade area with just few moves...well, people learn quickly.

Glad you liked it mimi, but I really just call 'em like I see 'em. I'm pretty sure that was a direct quote from our campsite last year. On...oh...about Friday morning maybe. ;D
