They only made me open my backpack to look for bottles. No patdowns at all.
"Factory sealed" plastic water bottles (that tasted suspiciously like Stoli ;D ) were not even looked at twice.
I brought beef jerky and snacks in each time with no problems. I think they're only concerned if you bring in 30 veggie burritos or something outrageous like that.
This was really different in 2002 and 2003. I'm assuming they will go with the policy from last year of having the checkpoint outside of the entire Centeroo area. In 2002 the only checkpoint was outside of the part of Centeroo that held the two main stages. This made it a bit more of a hassle to flow from the tent stages/concessions to the main stages, but it also meant that you could bring anything you wanted into the tent stages.
I've found that the security check upon entering Centeroo gradually gets more relaxed over the course of the weekend. I think technically you are only supposed to bring in sealed water containers and I remember them enforcing that on Friday afternoon, but by Sunday I could have walked in with a backpack full of anything you can imagine without a problem.
In the two years I saw someone take a bowl from someone ONE time. That was on Friday in 2002 and even the other security people seemed a little surprised that the guy was doing it.
I would recommend not bringing anything with you the first time you go into Centeroo (except some sealed water if you don't want to pay $$$ for it), check out how things seem, and then decide what you are comfortable with. I think by Sunday you'll find that you can get in whatever floats your boat without much difficulty as long as you aren't bothering anybody.

- If you're talking about actually getting into the venue then there is no use even getting into that because the past two years it's anybody's guess as to when you are actually going to get through all the traffic, anywhere from a couple hours to my time last year on hwy 55 which was about 15 hours.
- This all depends on where you actually get to set up camp. Last year we camped right on a road so we could move our truck around as we pleased which allowed us to leave and come back to the venue with little or no problem. We actually left and went to the local park last year and played baseball with some highschool kids.....
- As far as what you can take to Centeroo. The word i would use to describe their policy is liberal. Although I think alot of the discretion of what is allowed and what is not allowed is left up to the individual Bonnaroo Satff Members that stand at the gates. Case in point....last year I walked straight through with a backpack full of stuff and atleast two longneck bottles of beer sticking out of my shorts pocket, while some unlucky guy got stopped right next to me while the lady made him pour out his entire camelback while she searched his bag. But generally they are really LIBERAL.
"You should always walk a mile in someone elses shoes before you criticize them, that way when you do criticize them you are a mile away and have their shoes"
How long does it take to get into the concert area? >>Depends on your campsite location<<
- Can you enter/leave at will or do you have to wait in line again. >>You can come and go at will, as long as you have your bracelet on<<
- What exactly can you take into centeroo? Coolers, Bags, etc.? >> I brought in tequila, limes, water, beers, snacks, but you need to be careful , and if you bring in bottled beer, please do not throw the bottle on the ground, recycle it, broken glass and bare feet suck<<
- How strict are they with rummaging through what you are taking in? >>Depends on the bag checker at the time. Some are thorough, but all of them will open you knapsack<<

they do sell beer in centeroo, at like $5 a pop. You can probably bring a beer or 2 in in hidden in your bag each time you go in to centeroo, but it totally depends on the person who's checking your stuff as you go in. I agree with what was said earlier. They enforce the rules a lot more early on in the weekend, and earlier in the day. for the early afternoon sets, i remember them doing a thorough search of my bag, during the evening, nothing. And you could probably haul an elephant in there by the time sunday rolls around...
