I dislike Beck's live show for the same reason I dislike Cage the Elephant's: One of the touring musicians is back up singing the lead vocals note for note. Without the front man playing any instruments or having any other musical responsibilities to speak of! If you can stop singing mid song with no change the the music whatsoever, at what point are you just a hypeman? I've made this argument on here before and it's a hill I'll die on!!
However, the one Morning Phase song Beck plays during his show is beautiful and intimate and perfect.
Wouldn't it be Kevin Parker being a fan of Donald Glover would result in the new Tame track sounding like a song from 2016?
This makes the most sense. I remember at Coachella, when taking about Donald glovers performance the night before, Parker said something along the lines of “I have never been so inspired by someone and so jealous of someone at the same time”
It goes both ways. Donald Glover is a big fan of Kevin. When Gambino performed in Australia this year he asked the crowd if they fucked with Tame Impala. Then said black people fuck with Tame Impala lol. There's also video of him watching Tame's set at ACL.
I got to do a local crew setup/takedown of a Beck show maybe three years or so ago. Which was awesome not only to handle his guitar, but I got to catch the show fer free too.
I don’t really care too much about if they have the squarch or not, but all of the promo videos showing the arch and not the squarch leads me to believe it will be an arch this year. And maybe the fact that they aren’t doing 111, they’l be more inclined to create a permanent structure again. RIP The Squarch 2019-2019

Huge beck fan, but I don't think he's put on a great show for a while. Loved the information tour, Guero tour, whatever tour had the puppets, and then went to these two recent ones. Colors tour had fun stage effects and a fun ending but I wouldn't call it memorable, this show with cage wasn't super exciting at all.like at all.
Beck's Boston Calling headlining set in 2015 was fantastic.
His lackluster new material hurts my excitement enough where his inclusion on the lineup wouldn't move the needle for me as much as it might have 2 or 3 years ago, but not so much that I would skip his set were he and I at Roo together in 2020
Does Beck play “Morning” live? I was at Shaky Knees and Voodoo this year and saw him in the Superdome when he opened for U2 and that’s the only song I’m chasing at this point
