Interesting. Supposedly Omar Apollo self-confirmed he's playing Coachella on Zane Lowe's show, but he's on this lineup?
I was really hoping for Chromatics at Coachella; I had Mikal Cronin on my mock too.
There have already been a couple artists that have “violated” the radius clause but still seem like locks. Looks like there could be a few more from this fest. Given the Chromatics sporadic touring history, I don’t think it’s a coincidence they’re popping up at a random festival out west a few weeks before Coachella.
Have they ever shared a headliner before? Them being the number 1 name on there has me doubting they'd play both. I know a bunch of artists that played last year headlined small fests that were around the time of Coachella but in other states. Krhuangbin played some fest in Texas and there were a couple others I cant remember off the top of my head.
SZA and HAIM as subs was so weird. And I love SZA and like HAIM.
SZA, HAIM, and Janelle as subs are why I think there's a chance FKA Twigs subs. She's playing similar or bigger venues in CA this fall to where those three played before subbing, and comes with an even stronger critics bump than they had; Magdalene is going to be all over top-10 lists.
I saw FKA Twigs at Flog Gnaw, and popularity aside, she deserves a sub slot in terms of quality performance. She was nothing short of incredible. But I feel like she's more similar to H.E.R. last year with all the acclaim. I feel like she won't be booked super high but they will get her a premium slot, like H.E.R. closing the Outdoor unexpectedly.
Do the new Tool dates in San Diego at the beginning of January count them out? The radius clause always seems to be a suggestion rather than a rule to me.
Not out until the poster says so. Pretty much the whole tour has been Aeg/gv. The sd venue is a tiny arena, so itll sell out in no time. Its also early jan, which in the past has been allowed. The core tool audience will get their fix with solo shows and coachella is a bonus. They supposedly have a big summer show for la, so that kinda fits in timing wise with a post coachella show drop. They like to announce barely a couple months out of a show date cause its selling out regardless.

Dude, don’t you know the headliners??? Just say yes or no.
Tool playing this seemed unlikely in the first place, Tool playing this as one of many Southern California shows seems even less likely.

Love Twigs. Don't where on the card she is, I just want her booked. On H.E.R., I liked what I had listened to on Spotify, but she blew me the quack away on the Outdoor.

Mac Demarco headlined in 2017 and played Coachella.

That’s enough of a precedent for me to get my hopes up.

Yeah, H.E.R. is good recorded, but live is a totally different vibe. It's waaaaaaaaaay better.
As someone who has a gf who is way into all that cheeseball emo shit, I’ve been to plenty of those kind of shows over the years and those people ride for it hard as hell. And honestly, they’re way more pleasant to deal with than, say, a Travis Scott crowd.
It’s honestly confusing to me that more mainstream fests don’t try to go after that niche. If Taking Back Sunday played at Coachella, I think they’d probably draw as big a crowd as Thom Yorke or whatever would be up against them.
Seeing Taking Back Sunday tomorrow night and I can't wait; they'd be great afternoon on the mainstage at Coachella.
Also - can't believe with all the MCR talk no one mentioned Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge. That album holds up pretty well.

Their poster placement is more important than the music if you hadnt noticed.

Knowing the headliners right now means zero. We all saw what happened last year when it seemed things were sorted.
I honestly would be shocked if we spent all this time trying to figure out who the 4th headliner is and come January it ends up being My Chemical Romance, the answer already in our laps. They’d peobably be a bigger draw than LCD Soundsystem was.
There is no denying that they are bigger than LCD, Phoenix, and Gorillaz when they headlined. GV is really in a position to put them 1-3 on their day as long as MCR is on board. I suppose with all of the shuffling around I could see them coheadlining with Frank or something. If we don’t have four headliners though, we’d still have to account for potential subs like Halsey. My thought is they might demote a male led act just to have some diversity in the top six names. The rumored top six has been so male dominated and I would like to think they are too conscientious by now to let that happen.
GV may have "allowed" the Shrine/Download shows by MCR to gauge interest/talent fee levels. Curious to see if GV demands first US/EU festival announcement come January.
Also, Rage/Justin/MCR is a fairly bizarre combination of headliners for an event without single day tickets.
Is it too soon to get Moses Sumney back? He deserves a better slot than last time.. and that day the scanners weren't working and tons of people got in late and missed him. It was one of, if not, the best performance I saw 2018.

Does he have a new album coming? If so he should be fine

Unrelated but Billie Eilish's new song is great. Wonder how soon we'll get a new album, but I'm guessing before her next tour that has 3 Forum dates. Sheesh. She really could be headlining by 2021 if she drops one 2020 and 2021, that's so nuts for someone her age.

They almost pulled the trigger for 2020, if you didnt notice the tour dates. EP is in the works, which probably goes with the tour. But lets remember her last ''ep'' was 8 songs, so who knows how long til a proper album. And if the record label puts pressure to release something quick or not. She has to survive the next round of touring on top of that. She was already having issues with her shins, she broke her foot in 2017 for starters, so this will be something to monitor and hope nothing happens and has to postpone dates or even cancel like gaga did during the artpop tour.

"allowed" the Shrine show??? the fuckin show was $150!!! and their draw at Coachella will be absolutely unaffected by it.
