Of course. It's Central Texas in July. I'm assuming this is on the Blanco/White River since it's San Marcos? We tube Don's Fish Camp almost every year in May, so it's got to be off one of those roads leading down to the river. Parking seems like it would be an issue though in some of those areas. IDK

Thanks Jim. I remember it sold out last year, but I wonder when? This is a super cheap camping trip for us and only about 7 hours out. I would think the Bass Heads and fans of rap would be on this as well as indie/alternative fans. I'd imagine this would probably sell out fast, so if I gotta jump on some tickets today, I'm willing to do it. But with the grand I dropped yesterday for the 4 Backwoods at Mulberry tickets I had to buy as well as Jazz Fest the following two weeks, I'm going to be broke as fuck. But, I don't want to miss out on an opportunity if I can always sell them later.
So if anyone has any information on how long these are liable to last, that's appreciated.
It looks like it's only about 10-12 miles west of Lockhart at that point too. Damn. Camping all day with Kreuz, Black's and some Smitty's too? \m/
You tube (heh) in the morning around 10 or 11 and make it back around 2 or 3. (Give it take an hour) It's all separate though. It'd he so dope to lounge in a tube and watch bands but I suppose that asking for a couple drownings amongst other logistical nightmares.
Edit: when you tube, you get shuttled back to the beginning which is where the camp/fest grounds are.
I would advise not tubing through the fest. We had tickets to do it last year on Saturday and it was a cluster fuck. People waiting hours in the hot sun to get on the bus. We ended up going on our own Sunday morning at a different place.

Yes. Tubing alone is absolute drain. There are other places to tube...so consider tubing on Friday and spending a night in Austin or San Antonio? Tubing I'd a cluster on a regular weekend.
Oh snap, outta nowhere Tame Impala's first Texas date since 2015 ACL. Apparently the creator of FloatFest is old high school buddies with creator of Day For Night -- wonder if they hooked up the same booking??
Also thanks to cmack for text the alert on Blackillac. It's a hip hop project of Gary Clark Jr. and emcees Zeale and Phranchyze who all went to Austin High School together. He doesn't play guitar, but he sings.
They originally were going for 30k attendance but the county bumped them back to 20k. NIMBY's complaining a bunch as usual.

Damn the lineup is so good. I didn't realize that the tubing was separate though, that kind of blows. Too bad I am broke and worried about my job due to the corporate shakeup that is going on.

ticket purchased, am officially planning a 10 dayish long road trip from Philly to texas with this in the middle. so damn excited, my friends and i agreed a while ago that we would see Tame wherever they played in the states and this definitely outshines Pitchfork for me with Glass Animals, Snoop, RTJ, Modest Mouse, and Bassnectar who i've never seen, + the fact that theres no conflicts and tubing? so damn excited.
people who have gone please give me the rundown on what i should known / expect.

Expect hot hot heat. Are you going to hit any other parts of Texas up? San Marcos is college town for a huge party school.

Not sure how you get there from Philly, but it probably bypasses NOLA far to the north else id tell you swing through. San Marcos is roughly a little more than halfway between austin and new braunfels (closer to new braunfels) which itself is about halfway between Austin and San Antonio. So you’re within an hour of cool places like that (New Braunfels = Schlitterbahn), Dripping Springs = some cool distilleries (Deep Eddy) and breweries (Jester King which is top dog).
Finally if you haven’t been down that way, Lockhart is about 20 Miles east of San Marcos and is widely known to be the bbq capital of Texas. If you aren’t vegetarian, you should swing by Kreuz Market, Smittys and Blacks and try something at all of them. They sell meat by the pound/half pound there (wrapped in butcher paper) and German/Czech styled sausages by the link. I’ve been to all of them at least 4 times, and they all have their flair (Kreuz prime rib), Blacks (smoked pork loin), Smittys has great sausage (they all do). People there are finicky and call the other guys dog food and shit, but they are all exceptional to everyone else. Don’t sleep on that short excursion while you are there. It’s not a bbq sauce area as they allow the smoke to speak for itself. Meats are usually only done with salt and pepper and that’s all you need there.
