I'm posting this for discussion purposes only since Ive never seen this before. I have no stake in this. Maybe this should be in a different section or whatever (general music forum?) Curators of Fortress Festival in Dallas sent this email sort offering investment opportunity? They're strongly tied to Margin Walker of Austin/Central TX.
I guess the discussion portion I'm interested in is asking if this is what is necessary to keep smaller, indie fests alive? Their is a direct quote on the regarding how the market is now mostly run by two companies:
" There's a gap in the industry between small firms focused on one event and international behemoths like Live Nation and AEG. Fortress is working to fill that gap by creating a diversified portfolio of events under one brand. This began with a flagship music festival launched in April 2017 that brought in more than 9,000 attendees. At the same time, we make it easy for other firms to host turn-key concerts, conferences, festivals, and more by handling production and promotion."
I found this fascinating as well. It's a clever concept and path decision in the wake of the festival bubble beginning its burst this year.
I attended the second day of the first Fortress Festival, and I loved the concept. Taking place within the Arts district of Fort Worth, and literally on the grounds(and floating on the water) of the Fort Worth Modern. There were some definite kinks they needed to work out (the pathways to each 'venue' stage was confusing, time-consuming and unnecessary), but I really hope they get this idea to gain steam and support.
