As a postscript, apparently their 2014 set at Bonnaroo's Miller Lite tent got too rowdy and was shut down. (Scanned some news articles and it had to do with people climbing on top of the tent then later surging the barricades. I wasn't at the show myself.) At least crowd size will be less of an issue since they're certain to graduate to a bigger tent now.
Their 2014 show was awesome. The crowd was insane. I snuck in on the side stage area and watched the madness unfold.

Security asked their singer to tell the crowd to back up from the stage, at which point he proceeeded to say fuck security everybody rush as close to the stage as they want.

funny story about the orwells.
2 years ago i saw them at Underground arts in Philly, with my buddy dylan, another friend, and dylans ex. the entire show consisted of everyone jumping on stage, singing with the lead singer Mario, and jumping off to crowd surf. As the show came to an end dyalns ex happened to be on stage, and Mario took her backstage, and she came out about 20 minutes later after having sex with the guy. Dylan was ecstatic that the lead singer of his favorite band got his sloppy seconds.
but ya i just saw them again this past november and they put on a fantastic show. their new singles are pretty solid also.

So basically what you're saying is....The lead singer of The Orwells played the DENNIS system on Dylans ex.

Hahahaha hearing these Orwells stories is reminding me how wild they are. I can't wait for their set.
It's funny cos honestly it's all Mario going nuts. The rest of the boys pretty much just play. They rock out, but they just play. Mario's enough madness for everyone.

guys, i've been studying ethnomusicology for like my entire life. i've seen bjork open for U2 from backstage. I am open to everything from norwegian noise rock to the amsterdam tin pan blues band to the neuveau silent opera movement currently haute-musique in paris. I hear all you guys saying you like the orwells; but I can tell you guys just don't get it. Ya'll aren't ready for something "different" and it's just proof that Bonnaroo booking them is just a meta statement about corporations defining cultural taste by promoting a band that clearly tries to be subversive. If you go see the orwells, you have to come with the mindset that you like them, but you can't like them, because that is what bonnaroo wants, so to truly appreciate them and their ethos you have to actually reject them as performers at bonnaroo. the irony is so obvious here, but ya'll probably don't get it. this board can be pretty shallow when it comes to post-authenticity critical analysis of subjective musical tase in the context of corporate machinations and the millenial psyche.

I'll be rage facing at getter, jabronis.
We must turn our attention away from those who neglect participation in the underground scene of varying genres. The Orwell's blatant ignorance of acts like Yung Lean & Pouya exemplifies the way in which they work to amplify the corporate machine.

I was at that set, it was fun. Bonnaroo fucked up sticking them on that little Miller Lite stage that year.
