Haha yeah they called that timeout to call a play to try to score. That was dirty!
If we had taken a knee as soon as the ball was snapped, it would have given Florida the ball with a few seconds. There's no need for that so Butch made sure we knew to run out the clock.i f we were earnestly trying to score it would have been a read option or a draw or something. If we didn't call time out and took a delay of game penalty, it would have triggered the 10 second run off, but that would have been at the discretion of McIlwain, essentially forcing him to either surrender or force his team to take the field for a last snap with 5 seconds left on the clock; running the ball there was the best outcome for everyone.
This maybe, I was listening to the game on the radio and DVR stopped recording with about 5 min of game time left. Coach Mac knows the truth, if it needs to be addressed, it will be addressed next year. I will chalk it up as UT trying, as long as they can, to savor the sweetness of beating a team, once a decade.
Not sure we can call it a rivalry, if you do not win a game every 10 years. Good game UT, but not sure why you have to call a timeout, when up by 10pts, have the ball, and seconds left on the clock. That shit will not be forgotten.
Right...because Florida has never, ever intentionally run up the score...
Whoa, wait a minute, When does the Gators take a time out to add another TD? Because that is how this game ending sounded to me. Is not the same as Spurrier running up the score on (insert most any half ranked team we played when he was HC). Scoring another TD, when you are beating a team by many TDs in the 4th quarter, is more about practice then it is rubbing your face in a loss. Totally different.

I think you're right. So what it was 4th down, the game was over, take a knee. Dabo ran one in for a td against GT a couple years ago and pissed off Paul Johnson. Dabo had a chance to do it again this year, but didn't. I guess he learned.

Jesus christ we've both already explained why the TO was taken, and it clearly wasnt to add another TD. If you're gonna be butthurt, at least be butthurt about something legit.
Damn son. I knew he had a short leash this season but not that short.
I called it yesterday, I told Andrea if LSU loses to Auburn they're going to fire Les Miles. I think they were going to do it last year, but he promised some changes and they kept him. Then this season starts and absolutely nothing has changed. He has all that talent but they still struggle on offense. I think the clincher was the time running out though. He's had many issues with clock management.
Complaints of running up the score always seems like being a sore loser to me. If you can't stop them that's your own fault. Especially when point margin plays into things like the final four selections

Normally I agree. Keep scoring, it's the other team's job to stop you. Dabo is very early to call off the dogs (he's done it with less than a 2 td lead) and I usually think he does it too early. But when there's less than a minute left and the game is definitely already settled, that's uncalled for.

I was at the Swamp in 2007 when Cam Newton ran in a TD with like a minute left to put the Gators up 59-20. Any school who has employed Urban Meyer complaining about anyone else running it up is pretty funny.

Phyllis already explained things, but I do love quotes.
"When Nebraska took a knee at the end of the Fiesta Bowl, I wanted to call timeout and go over and tell Tom Osborne to try and score another touchdown, but I chickened out. I'm a competitor. If you have a chance to beat me, beat me as bad as you can."

Fuck Florida.
Cam Newtown played for Florida?
Until he stole a laptop and got kicked off the team.

I was at the swamp for that game too. Until they saw my flask, revoked my ticket and then arrested me trespassing for being in the stadium without a ticket. Not even joking.

Thanks for the love. Go Gators! I am trying to forget it, but if people keep mentioning it, I have to reply, especially when you close with such nice words. I am assuming this post was in reference to my comments. I am okay with a 3rd string QB running for a TD late in the 4th, when up by 5 TDs. I am not okay with a coach calling a TO, with 5 seconds left in the game,so his 1st string offense can add another TD, when they are already up by 10pts. I complained, or said something like "this will not be forgotten", because this is how it sounded on the radio. After watching the game, I see the TO was clearly for the players and the fans and allowed them time to enjoy the win. I NEVER complained about running up the score and never will. That idea was added and later assumed by others.
I have a question about betting lines. I've never placed an official bet and not really planning to but I'm curious about something. Clemson started the week as a 3-3 1/2 favorite over Louisville. It's changed to Louisville favored by 2. I understand that it's changed because most of the bets are coming in on Louisville's side. So what I'm wondering is why Clemson began as the favorite? What determines that?

I think they try to set a line where they will get an even distribution of odds on both sides. A changing line will encourage more people to make bets the books would prefer.
Obviously it's a really complex system and that's a gross generalization. There are some really fascinating articles out there about how all this works.

It's why betting the spread against Notre Dame is the best bet in sports on a weekly basis. There are lots of other big names that you always get a few extra points on because the bookies know they automatically will get a big chunk of bets for them.

Looks like Chubb is gonna be out versus Tennessee this week per his dad. Michel had a good game against Tennessee last year, but it's still a fortunate injury from this side.
Also, I saw a Worley jersey today at Five Guys. That's hardcore fandom right there.
