"Hello everyone, I have a lot to cover in this e-mail. It's been a busy couple months! But I'll be as brief as I can. So first off, the last album in “The Family Tree” set is now done and set to be released March 25th. It's called The Leaves, and it's not the record I thought I was going to make when I first started it. A lot happened in my life over the course of this album – everything from adopting my niece to get her out of a really ugly situation, a big falling out with most of my family, needing to sell my house and move, and enough strangeness to fill a novel. As such, the record became a lot more personal and took a lot longer to make than expected. I've never made something so direct before. I usually wrap everything in stories, even when it's a personal experience. But me and my new little family have our own branch in this project now. There are a few songs in here that I doubt I will ever play live. Which actually leads me to the next bit … I've booked some shows around this record release. I'll be doing shows in Europe throughout April, and in the US in May. The tickets officially go on sale tomorrow, but I wanted to get them out to you folks on the mailing list first. I really appreciate that people have actually followed along with all these projects, even the big, messy concept-driven ones. We will be playing multiple nights in most cities, both so we can cover more material (each night will be a different set), and because it gives us a chance to do something more with the show itself (as in, have time to set up a stage, and do something fun with the lobby, etc). It also keeps the shows smaller, which I prefer. So if you're interested, here's a way to get tickets before they go live tomorrow:

Oh, and if you'd like to preorder the new album, here are the links for that:
It'll also be up on all the streaming services (Spotify and such) on record release day. I also, in completing this last album, have decided to make sense of this eight year mess I've made. Last year, I started telling friends and people I work with how all these songs are interconnected, and everyone said the same thing: You should explain all of this. So I've been trying to think of ways to do just that, and it split into two forms. The first is the new splash page for my website. If you head there, you'll see an image of a large map. The map is populated with points, and each of those points is a song from the Family Tree set of albums. Every Friday we'll be adding more songs, descriptions, and showing how they're connected to that map. In time, all 44 tracks will be up, everything will be streamable and, hopefully, the entire story will make sense. So if this seems fun to you, definitely check back! It'll happen over the next couple months. The second form is a book that will come with the soon-to-be-available vinyl box set. I've spent the past month designing a 54 page book, another, separate hardback book that holds all 4 vinyls (The Bastards will be pressed to vinyl for this as well), and a case to contain everything. I hope I haven't made everything too expensive, but I wanted to do this one without reservations. 8 years of writing and recording, all in a box. I'm pretty proud of it. I also now have a functioning website again (yay!), my e-mail is back up and running, there is a forum and a webstore that actually work, and I am more or less getting my life back together. Life can be such a strange and twisty thing, but there's a lot of bright spots along the way that make the trip worth it. Or something along those lines. I hope everyone is well. -Ben"
